Surrounded by large flower gardens, this lodge offers a seasonal outdoor pool from May to October and serves raw vegan breakfast. Carmel-by-the-Sea is 15 minutes’ drive away.
Score from 105 reviews Very good
Nestled among the Santa Lucia Mountains, this charming B&B is just 5 minutes’ walk to Carmel Valley Village. Parsonage Village Vineyard, Joullian Vineyards and other Carmel Valley wineries are nearby....
Score from 137 reviews Very good

Score from 86 reviews Superb

Score from 66 reviews Good
Traffic noise was loud until about 9 pm.
Restaurant was good. River runs behind it. Very relaxing.
The room was dreary and depressing!
The bedsheets were clean but smelled a little musty
A perfect spot in rustic setting. The pancakes and adirondacks in the creek were our favorite!
No bad experiences :)
The wooden cabin room :)
The food in the restaurant was great- plentiful and tasty.
Dinner at the restaurant wasn't special and was also pricey.
The room was ok, bed comfortable Very expensive.
We were on a road trip so nice break not to have TV in rooms and be in a peaceful setting. Wooden cabins are spacious and you get a parking space allocated. The Inn is a nice place to eat something other than American fast food for a change! Breakfast not included as we knew but you can book a table at Inn or go down to the Big Sur Bakery for fresh coffee, eggs and baked pastries in another beautiful setting.
No TV, but common in this area. In the bathroom no shelves or even sink surface to put your toothbrush etc. A simple shelf would suffice
The river area behind the restaurant is amazing. The burritos from the general store huge and good value for money. The pub and the restaurant both really cosy and lovely and the location great for seeing things to both the south and north in Big Sur
No breakfast inc in the rate
Location next to the river
Rustic and pleasant in a beautiful setting.
No TV, no phone, no refrigerator, no shelf/counter space in bathroom, NO WIFI that actually was useable. TOO CLOSE to Hwy 1 - street noise. No view.
Mattress and bedding, carpet.
Location. Meal at restaurant was great. Well stocked camp store.
No cell service and the internet was unusable.
the restaurant, store and river were great.
Rooms are a bit tired, and nothing like the size indicated by the photographs on the website, but this is true of most websites. Rooms were quite noisy and close to the road.
It's location near to the river and walks. Would be really stunning place to stay in Summer!!
Pricey for accommodations
Great restaurant - friendly, helpful staff - easy location to travel to/from sights
The rooms offered to us by booking.com were across the busy Hwy1,with no view but the Hwy. Very disappointing.
The River Inn and rooms on the river were very nice. The lodge and restaurant were great.
The location and amenities (grocery store, gas, restaurants) were amazing. I had the best breakfast burrito from the grocery store! Check-in and out was also easy and effortless.
Heater was very noisy, but if one switched it off, the room got cold very quickly. Insufficient blankets on the bed for a February night.
Location very good and comfortable to sit on the veranda drinking a glass of wine in the afternoon.
Great location and stop over on the way down highway 1,
The place is gorgeous. We shared a meal with town people due to fund raising for the school and it was a conforting experience.
Room was not modern, very rustic. A few bugs on floor, because you're in a forest. Small bathroom.
Location was great, near beautiful Pfeiffer Beach. Restaurant had delicious food, but rather expensive.
The bed had dirt on the sheets so gross we could never get comfortable. Lots of traffic and the over all value for what we payed was poor.
We liked the location and restaurant is a good value.
let's see where should i start: the toilet backed up, the shower was to small, the heater to small, could here others in there rooms through out the night, ran out to TP...shall I go on...
the ocean, and trails
Too scarce! we know the idea is to enjoy the stillness of the woods but... bulbs gave really dim light, no TV, and wifi almost nonexistent in the cabins. Also, shower was clogged when we arrived but was promptly fixed. Thin walls let you know all your neighbors are doing... Not a good value for the money.
Location, location, location!
Being on the main road it was a bit noisy but we still slept well. Food in the restaurant was a bit expensive.
The staff were very helpful and welcoming. Travelling in January the big fire in the dining room was lovely to enjoy a coffee after dinner. Room was basic but comfortable.food in the restaurant was good.
