Floors are quirkes
The rooms are big and the restrooms are very clean.
The carpet is old and has dust.
We loved staying in this hotel. We got a huge suite on the second floor. The decor was great - very homey. The bed was comfortable, and the entire room was very clean. The heat worked well, which was important on the very cold night we were there. If you park in the hospital garage one block away, be sure to have the person at the hotel desk validate your ticket - then overnight parking will be only a few dollars.
The Biltmore is in a lovely, historic neighborhood, close to harbor and convention area, and is a slightly run-down but funky, clean and functional hotel. Rooms are actually mini-suites with lots of space, old but workable furniture and facilities, including microwave, refrigerator and TV. Very cozy as long as you do not expect up-to-date everything. I would be happy to stay here again.
Breakfast was not much, so it is best to plan to get that outside the hotel. Fortunately, there are any number of breakfast spots nearby, especially if you head down the hill towards the convention center area.
The location couldn't be better! The staff was very nice, as well. The rooms are nothing fancy, but there's a fun, old-timey vibe to them and the place was very quiet. It's a great value for the area.
The Hotel was built in the 1890's, and was a neat place to stay with lots of history. It does show its age with building settling and some earthquake damage from a few years ago, but all in all, I think it just adds to the character of the hotels history. Loved the size of the rooms, and the antique furnishings.
Not much, my only complaint is a minor one, the fridge in my room froze my sodas. Other than that, no complaints. I cant really complain about no elevator, I knew that before I booked the room, and there were no elevators in the 1890's.
The character of this old hotel was awesome. I loved the view from my window, of the city street. I live in the country now, and miss the city terribly, so I enjoyed hearing the sounds of the city. The staff was super friendly! I really enjoyed my stay, and would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants something a little different. So much charm and character!
The woodwork on the 1st floor.
no elevator, grungy all over, old sheets & blankets, thick dust around the room, $30 less per night on their internet site....
It is a beautiful building with a charming and a bit shabby interior, which gives this hotel a personality. The location is lovely, very pretty down-town with old buildings and lots of private small restaurants. My room was very quite and comfortable to sleep. I had a large TV, but I have never used it. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
I liked everything, but maybe for some people who like all high tech and very new bathroom stuff it is not the right place. The breakfast was rather a snack with coffee, so I would not count on it if you like to start the day with a big meal.
The hotel has a lot of personality and very comfortable atmosphere. It's like staying at grandpa and grandma's house. The hotel's location is a few minutes walk from the light rail and bus stops.
The front door system and check in process need to be updated.
Cheap/ nice people and nice room
The heater was a bit noisy
It is a funny place, not as a hotel but as a historical building.
The breakfast finishes at 9 am. There was a rat in the garden. The hotel is really old
I was there from NC for a job interview and I loved it. I felt like I was in a small apartment. Just didn't have a kitchen. That king-size bed was awesome. I'll be going there again. The check-in person was so friendly.
I did not like having to park down the street in a hospital parking lot. Inconvenient and not safe.
We just wanted a bed each night and this served our purpose at an appropriate price
If you are easily intimidated the walk from downtown is dodgy, walking around homeless people and small groups just hanging about.
Bed was very comfortable
Too many steps for a senior citizen and no railing by the front steps to make it easier. Parking 3 blocks away.
--Arrived late at night and neighborhood is unsafe. Have to park 1 1/2 blocks away, and a security officer told me to be careful. Observed a drug deal and had to run the last half block as deranged man did a 180 and started following me. --The Hotel is extremely old and run down. My room was not clean. --There was a fire excape outside my window that someone could have come in through. --Front dest staff is rude.
The first night I arrived and felt the accommodations to be old but historic. Room was kind of dirty but I chalked it up to older furniture and walls, etc. Internet was fast and rooms were spacious.
The second morning I woke up itchy and kind of feeling like an allergy had hit - I thought maybe it was the old heating system and dust coming through. I felt that way all day. The second morning I noticed a few bites on my hands but since I had checked the mattress for bed bugs the first night (as I always do in all hotels) I thought maybe a spider or mosquito had gotten me. However, by the third morning I had bad bumps on my hands and face and that afternoon I rechecked the mattress fully (my first check was just a quick check between the mattresses). This time, I found a nest of bed bugs. DISGUSTING!!!! The hotel offered to move my room, but by the third evening I decided I couldn't stay there anymore. The manager did not agree to a complete refund and only refunded one of the three nights because "I didn't discover or report the problem until the 3rd night." The manager also indicated that this problem had "never happened before" but after it happened I checked other sites besides booking.com and discovered it to be a recurring problem at this establishment. I still cannot believe it. I had to pay to dry clean all of my clothes (precautionary because I DO NOT want to bring them to my home) and there was no offer by the hotel to help with that. While the manager was kind of apologetic, she also told me that it would be a major hassle for her to address the problem. Sorry, but that's her problem, not mine.
Nice room, great location and helpful staff. I will definitely use the Biltmore Suites Hotel for my next stay in Baltimore
-The room was gorgeous
-We were not informed about breakfast times -the lady at the reception was a bit grumpy, we did not feel welcome -parking at the hospital (usd 14 per day) -area is a bit shady...
the staff members are awesome
they should provide full breakfast and other meals (optional) even at a cost
Smoking. Someone always smoking approximately 7am,
Location. Free parking nearby on wrekend
Old and somewhat dirty
Well located. Good value. Will stay there again.
Worn carpets and paint made it look shabby, but if it got fixed up, they'd raise the prices and the funkiness would be lost.
