Best location as everything is a walk away and it's not too busy. Love Chicago and the Blake hotel made my stay very enjoyable...
We just loved the large windows in the room, the location, the staff and the character of this wonderful restored hotel! Shower was lovely and updated while the room was charming and cozy. We can't wait to book and stay again.
We liked everything!
great location, courteous staff, nice lobby
bathroom door would not close and was cracking and splitting. Toilet ran, and shower drain was absolutely disgusting!!
We enjoyed our stay. The staff was very helpful. The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. We didn't hear any noise from the street or from other rooms. Good location to Grant Park and Michigan Ave. Close to the El.
The room was chilly in the evenings - we continually adjusted the thermostat upwards but to no avail. We weren't in our room too much so it wasn't a huge issue.
Love the hotel! Staff was great! A little pricey for hotel though.
Awesome shower Clean room Great price
No outlets near nightstands Pullout bed mattress was horrible
Business centre was good for booking activities. Really handy to a few good restaurants down printers row, also handy to a couple of metro stations which we really appreciated given our jet-lag. Very nice gym which I had to myself
Ability to walk to the museums and surrounding areas.
Five in our family and were unable to have a rollaway bed or alternative for our youngest…do to fire codes.
location is great.
room telephone not working.
Bed was comfortable.
The bathroom door needed to be replaced, the bathroom ceiling had mold on it, there was a room service tray sittiing outside the room next to us our entire stay. All in all, just not kept up well.
Everything but the bathroom
The bathroom was too small
Value. Location. High ceilings in room. Quiet. Pet friendly. Helpful staff.
Shower was not enclosed so water ran all over bathroom floor.
"Showtime", the concierge. Style of hotel. Front desk staff.
No fridge in room. Paid $100 for 2 nights parking of my camper van, offsite. Service attitude at restaurant; especially the maitre d.
The building is beautiful; its location ideal! The staff was fantastic - accommodating of our special request, and friendly and helpful as well. Breakfast was delicious - generous portions. Room was clean and nicely appointed. We've stayed in other downtown hotels, but Hotel Blake is our favorite by a long shot!
Nothing - this was our second visit to this hotel and we will return again and again.
Location Room very comfortable
The staff was amazing, big rooms and bathrooms. Showtime is a fantastic doorman! Very clean. The location is perfect, in walking distance to everything including tours:)
Shower, size of room, staff, proximity to Michigan Ave. and Cafecito(great Cuban food/coffee a short walk E. on Congress Parkway).
Sounds of traffic outside room window and powdered creamer for in room coffee.
You couldn't control the room temperature. We tried adjusting the knob several times and the actual room temperature never changed. There was paint coming off the walls all over that bathroom. We asked for a room with a view, the front desk manager smiled and said of course. We got to our room and it was a view of the building behind us and the dumpsters down below. To top everything off, I booked the room the weekend of Lollapalooza (spell check) so the room was $380 for a normal room thats around $180. I was terribly dissatisfied and will never return here again.
Well kept an up to date for being on the historic registry. Very confortable room. Was nice to have a coffee maker which the majority of other hotels did not. Breakfast was included and was excellent. Would definitely stay there again. Great location.
Parking fees but there again they were a little cheaper than other hotels. Windows did open but was suprised that they did not have screens.
- very close to the red line - Starbucks just across the street
The location was excellent and the doorman was friendly!
The confusion with the valet didn't like that I had to pay every time I left the parking garage!
1. Convenience: My bank (Chase) and a Starbucks are within just feet of this beautiful hotel. Great food, dinning and access to all of downtown and the North Shore are only minutes away. 2. Beautiful Decor: Rooms are nice and modern, beautifully decorated with nice high ceilings with plenty of space. Beautiful sitting areas as well. 3. Doorman number 1: There was a doorman who was in every sense of the word a superb host. This gentlemen would greet each and every guest with genuine enthusiasm while remaining professional and yet reserved. While he was very approachable to begin with he'd ask if there was anything that was needed such as a taxi, directions or where to grab a bite. This person Hotel Blake's best asset.
1. Room Location :( Faced an alleyway and a brick building. Not good being that the other side of this hotel has some of the best views in Chicago. 2. Noise .... Street level noise from vagrants in alley late night. 3. Staff (front desk in particular) was accommodating but not friendly. Doorman number 2 who was not as nice nor as polished as Doorman number 1. Many businesses can create a beautiful hotel .... but it's people who makes these places memorable.
The staff were excellent from the porter, the front desk check in was very easy and the housekeeping staff greeting us in the morning as we walked out and engaged us to see if we had any special request and if our stay was going well.
Our showers in both rooms had a lot of black mildew in them which for the price of the room I was very disappointed to find!! The front reception area had a thick coat of dust on the dark moldings so it was very evident, especially behind the desk when we checked in, not a good first impression of detailed cleanliness. Carpets greatly needed to be cleaned in halls and rooms.
We were at the Blake for one night as we changed trains. It is a short cab ride from Union Station. We were warmly welcomed, had a large, comfortable room, and appreciated their complimentary luggage storage on our departure day. We'd definitely stay again.
The only missing amenity was an in room refrigerator.
What's not to like? The hotel is historical, located in downtown, good amenities, friendly staff. Loved it there. We came to Chicago to explore the city and everything was walking distance away. The hotel staff also gave us a really good map that helped us decide our itinerary of all the places to see.
