It's location in the heart of the Lower East Side makes this a wonderful vantage point to explore lower Manhattan with ease. Comfy rooms, attentive staff, at a great price.
Loved the characters and the lication
It felt like a home. The people at the desk were very nice and always offered tea or wine when passing by. The place was very cute, in my opinion, but my colleague who is higher maintenance who fit in more in the meat packing district, unfortunately didn't enjoy it so much.
The internet was a bit slow. My colleague didn't like the thin blanket, but the room was warm enough so it didn't matter to me.
Dirty room, filthy carpet, overlooking a disco, stinky bedsheets, uncomfortable beds and ramshackle sofa bed. We slept on top of the sheets with our clothes and shoes on, and it was the Deluxe room! Unpleasant, arrogant and stingy staff complete the scenario of the worst hotel I've ever been.
The bad sheets were not changed the batroom was not cleaned after the previous client you could see the hair, dust everywhere
Bathroom is ok, a/c ok, bed is comfortable, nice with refrigerator and coffee/tea maker, big and quiet room. The lobby guys are great and helpful, but the lady manager (cousin of owner) is quite abrupt.
Poor cleaning in room, ok in bathroom but attachment for hairdryer not working. Windowblinds bad plus curtains are old & heavy, no iPod docking, TV list not updated and some channels had poor quality, wall to wall carpet is dirty, you have to hang the sign on the door to get the room cleaned at the best. bagels are fresh but were not always available within the breakfast time, pastries and fruit half fresh. Safe in room is ok but located on the floor in the closet maybe not the best location for older citizens. I have stayed at several NYC hotels but this stands out in not live up to expectations. Hotel has potential…. but not as it is for the time being.
The hotel was comfortable & good value for money. Staff were friendly & happy to assist with any query. The location of the hotel, which is situated in Chinatown, is around 60 minutes walk to the main sites in Midtown & around 30 minutes to the financial district. I would recommend using the subway to get about.
Very friendly lobby staff, well appointed decor in keeping with the theme, quiet room, nice windows.
Location, location, Location!
This boutique hotel is tucked away downtown on a quant street in Alphabet City. Surrounded by restaurants, shopping, bars and fun things to do close by. The rooms are a very nice size for NYC with comfortable beds and room to spread out. Would definitely go back again.
Good concept for hotel in interesting location - glad to have chosen it because of this
Certain staff were quite abrupt and morning bagels were not always available for reasonable breakfast time
Next to China Town and Little Italy, walking distance to Broadway and Shopping Areas, Bars and Restaurants. Old fashioned Hotel but ok for 2 nights.
Lauren was very helpful, as were the rest of the staff
Very basic, poor value for money
Nice little hotel, good wifi, friendly staff. Clean rooms. Close to the subway station and Chinatown restaurants. Price is competitive comparing to other similar NYC hotels.
Despite relatively good price, this hotel is also overpriced like all NYC hotels. Hotel itself nothing special, just another average suburban hotel. You may choose this or choose another, no difference.
Helpful staff Quiet location near to subway Quirky stylish hotel in keeping with the areas history
The staff that welcomed us was great. They offered a free beverage and gave us lots of information about restaurants. Location near the subway was great. Room was large with comfortable beds. WiFi worked well.
We liked the hotel very much. The staff was exceptional -- they arranged for us to have our room early after a red eye flight from California to New York. They were sympathetic and VERY helpful. They were friendly. They gave us suggestions about where to go and how to use the subway. We needed new luggage, and they told us of a place that was very close and not expensive. I give both of them an A+!
Nothing! We will stay at the Blue Moon if we come back to New York. Love the place!
The hotel's fascinating background, a great location near to Chinatown and subways, comfortable bed, an interesting museum across the road, quiet, despite being near to traffic. Our stay was split, so appreciated the bulk of our luggage being stored during an overnight Niagara falls visit.
Poor breakfast selection, eaten in the hotel lobby, the washbasin plug was faulty (even after staff inspection), as was the toilet flush. I appreciate New York accommodation is expensive but not sure that this was value for money. Missed a kettle in the room but understand Americans aren't tea enthusiasts!
Very kind employee, very near to Delancy-Essex metro station, Many resaurants nearby
A little bit small bed, simple breakfast
Staff helpful, good wifi
House keeping needs attention, we had to complain, about stained bed spread and sheets, floors hadn't been cleaned from the last occupant.
Breakfast is pathetic
Great location within walking distance of the East Village, Little Italy & Chinatown, plus only 2 blocks from the Subway. The hotel is furnished in a unique way with antique furnishings & artefacts from the original tenement building in the lobby
I LOVE that this hotel is in a neighborhood. You won't find many hotels in this part of NYC, and to me, that's a good thing. It's away from the hustle and bustle of Times Square. But it's a perfect location. Two short blocks to an F line subway stop. Right across the street from the Tenement Museum. We loved getting donuts from nearby Doughnut Plant and great coffee at Coffee Plant. Also close to a food market, drug store, Starbucks...everything is within 2 blocks. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and were always accommodating. They were truly fantastic. We enjoyed staying in the Frank Sinatra room. It was great. Very large room for NYC!!! And the window fronted Orchard Street which made for a unique NYC neighborhood experience, which we loved. They give you passes to a gym across the street. We also enjoyed morning runs down to and over the Brooklyn Bridge. We loved staying here. If you want a more unique NYC experience, stay here.
Warm welcome, fast check-in, spacious (!!!) room (Milton Berle) with high ceiling, perfect high bath tub, good water pressure, free fridge in the room, location. (Delancey/Essex station, fast connection from/to air train to JFK) Wifi, breakfast, and as returning guest you'll get a nice discount. Free bag storage after checking-out.
Safe didn't work, wasn't fixed during my 4 night stay. Matras was hard and bed often used by one person so a bump/hole on one side. All day & night noise from the washing/dryer (or was it an a/c) at the back of the room where my bathroom was located. When booked late, price goes up real high (it is New York City, I know) and then it's not worth that amount of money. Could use new carpet and drapes, over all look is fab tho, but the carpet and drapes made it look out-dated.
A quirky and individualistic hotel with attentive staff, comfortable, well serviced, and good sized rooms. The hotel location is excellent, close to Chinatown, Little Italy, and East Village. The immediate area has plenty of bars, restaurants, and coffee places that are welcoming to all, while being frequented by mostly by young New Yorkers. There is a subway station very close with excellent links to the rest of Manhatten and beyond.
Some rooms can be a bit noisy as night. The rear of the hotel overlooks a reasonably large and popular bar/nightclub which remains open very late on the weekend and the music can be disturbing. But, in our view the positives about the Blue Moon far out weigh this minor issue.
