Hotel Boheme444 Columbus Avenue, North Beach, CA 94133 San Francisco (Show map) Very good, Score from 34 reviews“The location is incredible. North Beach is an amazing and vibrant neighborhood. The rooms were cozy and had a kind of sophisticated Bohemian feel. Bathroom was small but felt extremely clean and we were provided with useful toiletries. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.”

Located in the heart of historic North Beach San Francisco, this intimate hotel creatively captures the area’s bohemian flair of the 1950’s and 1960’s. Centrally located near Chinatown and Little Italy, Hotel Bohème takes you back in time while placing you in the center of a vibrant city life. Inviting colors and modern art greet you as you enter the Bohème. The charm of the building as well as the courteous staff is reminiscent of the bohemian style the area was famous for. Steps away from many Italian restaurants, small cafes, jazz and blues clubs and only a short walk from Lombard Street and San Francisco’s famous cable cars, Hotel Bohème provides the ideal starting point for exploring this historic area. The location was excellent There was a very unpleasant odor that hit you just as you entered and continued troughout, as well as in the rooms. The room was very small and barely enough room for the luggage, so you would definately trip over your luggage. the bedsheets, although clean, were old and worn (blanket had holes). the paint and carpets shoudl be changed. Generally it was worn & stuffy. Also, no reception past 11pm & you even had your own key to open the front door. that was not very comforting & did not feel safe for two young ladies travelling alone.

It is good to have alternatives to hotel chains. Charming. Friendly staff Blankets. Several touristy restaurants, but you can find some interesting ones. Cafe Divine for a drink. L'Osteria del Forno for lunch. I've heard Tony's Pizza is good.

I wanted to interrupt my very long flight back from Hawaii, and had not been in San Fran in over twenty years. The location of Hotel Boheme was excellent, the staff very helpful, the sherry a nice gesture. My room over Columbus was a bit noisy but I had expected that from the reviews; the view of the North Shore was pleasant. It was a very nice way to return to San Francisco. The noise of the street-- but again, I was expecting that. The Internet was a bit unreliable at times but after all it was free and did work most of the time.

The staff are incredible and very friendly. The rooms are small, but nice and homey. The location is amazing, right in the heart of North Beach, next to a fun cafe and bakery. I would return.

Very helpful staff, fantastic location, fair cost. Avoid room 106 -- dark, at the bottom of a tiny airwell. Hotel did not allow me to choose from available rooms.

Great staff. Really helpful and friendly. I knew what to expect as I had read reviews and so was not disappointed but if people are not aware then the lack of a lift up three/four flights could be a problem. There are almost no facilities so as long as you dont want gym, bar, etc and just want a good honest clean room in a good location you will be fine.

If you have an affinity for anything about the "Beat" generation, stay here. Its authentic, yet clean! Also, its a unique alternative to the big hotels in the financial district if you are in town for business, as its only about a ten minute walk to the Transamerica building. It is a great blend of utilitarian and artsy in a very happening part of town.

Great location, 10 mn walking to Pier 39, same to Union Square, very lively place with many nice restaurants. Nice staff. Charming old fashioned room. Really too noisy. We had a room very close to the air-conditioning located in the corridor. The noise was really disturbing (and we are not especially painful, we just wanted to sleep at night with our ear plugs!). We changed for the last available room. Worse, as close to the main compressor. We unfortunately cannot recommend this hotel.

Thanks for great and the bed and bathroom were very nice and spotlessly clean Noise from the street comes in through the windows, otherwise it was a very pleasant stay. Also, no aircon.

Location is excellent. In the Italian district so many restaurants, cafes, pastry and sweet shops. One block away is the garlic restaurant The Stinking Rose. Walkable is Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square, Coit Tower, Chinatown and Lombard Street. Very friendly, helpful staff. Free sherry every evening. When sat right at the window we could see Coit Tower. Little bit expensive.

I really liked the fact that it was small, has some history,( we stayed in Alan Ginsberg's room), the rooms were creatively decorated and each one was different, not just another chain. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Great location. The carpets on the stairs could have been cleaner, there was a liquid drip on the back of our door that I had to clean up and rooms overlooking Columbus are very noisy until about 3am, when the patrons from the bars head home.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. I can not remember staying at a small hotel where the stff was so great. The rooms were not big, but clean and located in the center og the North Beach area. Walk out of the hotel and you are next to restaurants, shopping, and transportation.

The staff was excellent and very knowledgable about the local area. The location was ideal, on the edge of Chinatown and in Little Italy. The choice of places to eat within a block of the hotel was very impresive and all the ones we tried at the recomendation of the staff treated more like family. If you are tired of franchise hotels this is the place. Stairs, don't let them chase you away the staff will help you. There was some street noise but it wasn't that bad.

Charming, sense of history and location. Easy walk to many restaurants, Chinatown, shopping, bookstores, coffeehouses. If you want to get a feel for the vibrant North Beach, this is the place to stay. The stairs are steep. If you have trouble climbing stairs, this isn't the place for you, although the desk clerk was right there, offering to help. If you have a car, be prepared to spend about $25 for overnite parking.

We really enjoyed the kind and friendlly staff at Hotel Boheme, the decor and cleanliness of the room, and the fun location in the midst of North Beach. The only aspect we didn't like was the having a room on the Columbus side of the hotel where the street noise was quite loud. The room got quite warm, so we needed the window partially open during the night.

It's in a very busy place, but is like an oasis; very quiet and serene. The neighborhood is very lively and well placed in sf. The room was small, but comfortable, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was a bit warm, but there was a fan, so it was okay. In general, we enjoyed our stay and would go back.

The location is incredible. North Beach is an amazing and vibrant neighborhood. The rooms were cozy and had a kind of sophisticated Bohemian feel. Bathroom was small but felt extremely clean and we were provided with useful toiletries. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I think it's maybe a little to pricy considering the size of the room and the fact that the hotel doesn't offer many amenities besides a bed and a bathroom, such as breakfast, a gym, a lobby, etc.
