Although the main building has been brought up to date, the mechanicals are in full sight and, moreover, the heating and cooling system is not really adjustable in the rooms. Bathrooms are circa 70s and need updating as does the decor. We were there during Thanksgiving, but still there was only one person at the desk and one lone waitress in dining room. We even had to ask her to find the cook at the omelet station. Also, still waiting for a reply from concierge re lost charger.
The location and park-like setting are very nice.
Couldn't get thermostat to work.
Pillows were not comfortable for me. No refrigerator in the room. We had food with us in the car which wound up spoiling due to no place to keep it cool while we were staying at the hotel. Outcome, we had to discard all of the food.
Rooms were clean and staff was courteous and friendly.
Not so convenient to get into central Washington (shuttle to metro not so regular, quite a few stops on the metro, if you are more than one, the metro ticket fare can be v similar to daily parking fees in the centre,
Excellent welcome, very good customer service. Excellent sports facilities (pool, gym, running track) Accommodating and relaxed atmosphere
Not entirely convenient for public transportation, but hotel does offer free, scheduled shuttle service to the DC Metro and local shopping malls.
The fitness center and indoor pool were pluses. Pool is big enough for lap swimming! Nice nature, running trail on the property. Room was nicely appointed, clean, spacious. The property is quiet and nicely landscaped. Good for quiet evening strolls. On premises sports bar and grill. Hotel staff were cery friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
Low pressure in the shower.
I thought the staff was wonderful. Donna, the manger, was quick to help us out with some small problems. The rooms were comfy and everyone was attentive and polite.
The hotels' uniqueness. The beautiful, spacious grounds. The privacy and quietness. The location was perfect. The soccer tournament was in Germantown. The team was staying in North Bethesda. I was a guest for a week and everything worked out well.
Restaurant choices, needs a "cafe" with more atmosphere for morning coffee. Get a Starbucks on the premises.
Beautiful grounds, park like Clean, efficient rooms Comfortable beds
The pull-out sofa and chairs were lovely, so long as you didn't actually sit on them. I've never seen chairs so cheaply made. It was like furniture made for a museum display, not meant to actually be touched or used.
The grounds were *gorgeous*. I wish I were a runner so I could've taken advantage of it. It was like having a room inside a park. The mature shade trees kept the temperature cool despite the summer heat. It was so shady, in fact, that with the comfortable bed, I could've easily overslept!
The open space and gardens.
The Bolger Center is situated in a gorgeous park like setting - with grounds that stretch as far as the eye can see. A nice respite in a busy and congested city. The Bolger Center has an interesting history, starting out as a convent, and now owned by the US Postal Service. Given the above, the rooms are a little different from the standard hotel fare - but they are nonetheless - large, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was a large buffet with lots of freshly prepared hot and cold foods, and the dining room was filled with large windows that looked out onto a lovely leafy green expanse. The buffet was $12.95 - a real bargain - in this era when hotels are notorious for nickel and diming you at every turn. It was a great way to start the day.
The pool is only open from 5-9pm on weekdays. The pool itself was nothing dated. They no longer offer the shuttle service to the golf tournament was cancelled, even though on their website it said that it was offered. I called the reception to find out about the mall shuttle and was hanged up twice before someone actually spoke to me. Will not be choosing this hotel next year for the golf tournament.
The majority of the staff was amazing, always willing to give help or tips about the area.
The staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was wonderful! Alex helped us when we first arrived and he was so friendly and accommodating! It was a great stay!
the dining staff
The day before arrival I phoned and requested a room (suite)in the Osgood building which is well built/quiet,for a 9 night stay on business(I have stayed before). This was confirmed. However on arrival I was told rooms are only allocated on the day,and I was put in Block B,which is not the same construction standard and liable to be noisy(student party/drinking on terrace below my suite in Block B+ given a room next to a v.noisy ice machine).Especially aggravating as I had requested a quiet room.I was transferred to the Osgood building after 2 nights and everything ok after that. I will not be staying again unless it can be categorically confirmed I will get a room in the Osgood building.Enjoyed my further 7 nights after that.Management needs to sort this one out.
Out of town location/away from traffic/fumes/noise.Lovely park setting. Catering staff and maid service all excellent.
Bad room service, I called for a pump for the sofa bed and it took 50 minutes for the staff to arrive. I called for an additional blanket, and guess what, they gave me five sheets!
Nice place and nice room, the court is very beautiful.
The room temperature could not be regulated therefore we spent the night in a room 79 degrees and a small black plastic fan. It was very uncomfortable and unpleasant.
