Friendly staff, great location

Tiny rooms with no roof on the rooms, small uncomfortable beds. The shower was only a small trickle.

Cheapest of twenty places I've stayed in Manhattan Pretty good location

Terrible night's sleep. Checked out the next day. But if you're on a budget and can cope with claustrophobic rooms, it's great location.

all around decent hostel, single rooms are all u need. It's easy to get to and has a decent nightlife.

bring earplugs because people snore which is no big deal.

The interior or exterior isn't taken care of. Looks like it's falling apart. Need at least some painting. Small rooms. Don't have fear for being in a typical prison cell. You have no wiggle room in your cell. Ok for onlyone night, but not more.

I am so sorry about one night that I was in this hotel. It was really Terrible for me. More money for less facilities. I had no sleep because of Noise and insects.

It would of bee nice to fresh cut flowers on the tables to add some flare !

Three words: disgusting, disgusting and disgusting. It turns out that the "room" is a extremely small area assigned with very thin wood boards without the roof. I can easily hear people sneezing, bathing, talking and eating throughout the midnight. I just could not sleep at all. And they even don't tell that there is no electric socket at all in the "room"! I agree with another reviewer that prisoner has better residence. Don't tell me something that this is because I pay little because I believe staying at McDonalds overnight might even be better than staying in the smelly, dirty and hot room. And by the way, the staff is very unprofessional and rude.

The bedbugs!!!!! I had to go home launder all my clothes, throw away my suitcase. I had the most awful trip home, scratching and worrying! The night staff was a complete douche. He made me wait an hour before checking me in, couldn't find the email from my partner regarding payment - completely inept! He also accused another traveler of not paying because his computer skills were so poor that he couldn't find the proof of payment himself.

Hostels in the us still fail to create a clean, community oriented atmosphere without being priced competitively in relation to hostels in expensive cities abroad I.E. London as low as $3.12 a night, Oslo (the most expensive city in the world priced around $20-$25 a night. I booked my room for $70 for two nights then it was bumped up to $90 due to "tax." 29% sales tax seems a little fishy to me. If they use the private room excuse, that is bordering bs, you are placed in what is a essentially in a row of boxes without roofs. Anyone could climb over and steal your stuff and the room is never dark because the hallway light needs to be kept on. It is in a great location and I had an awesome time in the city. It is right near nyu and the New school and my friends who attend university there were within walking distance which was great. I was also very happy to discover that it was two blocks away from the office I interned at the previous summer. It did have the basic neccesities (also great) but bottom line is just because you are the cheapest place in New York doesn't mean you should sacrifice quality and experience, because cheaper places in more expensive cities blow this hostel away. Overall I was happy but they could be doing better and they need to know what they are competing with abroad.

The facilities are very pore but it is safe, and clean. One cannot expect comfort for this price. Anyway staying on that location for this price is an absolute value for money.

The aren't really separate rooms, it's a huge floor with separate wall which don't get all the way up to the ceiling - the result: you can listen to your neighbor's conversation and it can get pretty loud and annoying especially around bedtime. Furthermore they don't have any free WIFI!!!!

Budget friendly, I came for a college open house and could not afford anywhere else. It's right in the middle of everything, I took the subway ever where. Staff is wonderful. Especially, the fine one with glass. If you can stay on a friends couch most definitely make it your friends choose, but otherwise this gets the job done.

I'm just not use to sharing a shower, and the over all look. I'm kind of a neat freak and anti-germ, so the over all look freaked me out a little.

I didn't like the rooms as they were tiny, extremely noisy, dirty, too light at night, too close to the toilets and the beds were very hard. I managed to get about 2 hours sleep on my first night, on the second I prepared myself with some ear plugs but even then it was still too noisy, light and uncomfortable. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone! I actually felt really vunerable there. Even the staff were totally unprofessional. I think it's absolutely awful that you don't get what is advertised when you book. There's no mention of 'cubicle' style rooms and if I'd known it was going to be like that I would never have booked there.... Was very glad to leave.

When I reached the hotel after 22 hours travelling from my home country and became totally tired!!, and I reached there at 9:00pm so after the time for check in!!! The staff says that we will check you in after 1 or 1:30 hour!!!, and when I said that I had a long trip and I am really tired, he spoke in a very very rude way and again says that I have to wait without any reason actually for waiting!!, its awfull and very bad place and very very very dirty!!.
