Our room atop the main house was lovely, with a panoramic view of the bay. Breakfast was great! The proprietors are a very interesting couple, she originating from Germany, he from Switzerland. Both were eager to make our short stay as pleasant and entertaining as possible. Both are very knowledgeable about Alaska and what's going on in the world; our conversations were informative helpful and stimulating. The gardens and grounds are unique and inviting.
We would have preferred to use our credit card but understand the expense and hassle probably isn't worth it to the owners. Based on a review of the guest book in our room, there is a steady flow of visitors from around and outside the country to Brigitte's who give this B & B very high marks and who enjoyed their stay as much as we did and more. Paying by check or cash apparently is not a deterrent.
Beautiful gardens, outside entrance with bathroom in each suite, very comfortable bed, wonderful hosts, spectacular views, and the best breakfast ever.
Beautiful mountain sitting. Very quiet and clean. Nice place to stay.
A little far from anyplace to eat but, there's a great place a few miles up the road that's delicious.
Hospitality of Brigette and Willie was second to none. Comfort, cleanliness and overall quality of facility was very much appreciated. We would return without hesitation and look forward to visiting w Brigette and Willie again on our next trip to Homer.
The view on the sea bay, the breakfast, the garden, Willy and Brigitte's kindness.
Arrived late on dark & rainy night, woke up next morning & thought we had died & gone to heaven. Truely unique place as are hosts Brigitte & Willie. Super value also. Shouldn't go to Homer without staying here.
Could have used a hot pot in late afternoon for cup of coffee/tea but not really a big deal.
the scenery was awesome
we stayed 7 days and it would of been nice if there was a small fridge in the room. I was expecting a better breakfast based on previous reviews. The days we had breakfast was fruit and bread and one day we had a dish with veggies and fried eggs which was ok. The place is beautiful and well kept.
Very unique décor and property. Willy has numerous interesting collections and carpentry projects he shares throughout the property. Brigitte is a great gardener which is really beautiful. No TV!!!
I would have liked a dorm size fridge in our room. If there was ice available, we weren't told about it.
Absolutely stunning location with the incredible views-the gardens were spectacular. We thought Brigitte and Willie were great hosts and it was nice to see the pride and care they take of their property. We found the separate cabins comfortable and private-and quiet! If you love B&B's (and are ok not having TV) you should love this unique and charming place. We used 4G so didn't know if there was Wi-fi but I suspect not?
There was a bit cooler welcome than I've had at other places-they both seemed very busy when we got there and eager to complete getting us checked in to continue their work- but I do think this is a cultural difference (European) rather than deliberate. It was a little surprising that they had to be paid in full in cash (or paypal) right when we got there. Most places we have stayed have you pay when you check out. However, we had read all the other reviews and were expecting it. It actually made it easier when we left the second morning. This was still our favorite B&B among the three we stayed at in Alaska and none of this would deter us from staying there again or recommending to our friends who like B&B's!
Set high in the hills overlooking the bay, the far mountains, and the glaciers, the grounds are full of tremendous flower gardens, along with berry bushes and a vegetable garden. When our fishing trip was cancelled for weather, Willie and Brigitte easily accomodated us for breakfast at the last minute and even served smoked salmon and fresh brocolli for breakfast the next morning.
I can't say there was anything I didn't like. Access to a microwave and refrigerator/freezer would have been nice, but not necessary.
Brigitte and Willie want you to feel like you are home and they truly succeed at this. Breakfast was amazing. The gardens were enjoyable to wander through. The rooms were beautiful. The view is amazing. If you are looking for a quiet retreat with easy access to town then this place is ideal.
Directions to the place were clear but some road signs were not easily found. Not the fault of the hosts but the fault of the city's road crew. It made it hard to find but once we found the place it was easy make our way to and from town.
Great view and food with interesting hosts
Initially very hard to locate
Truly a magical place!!
Brigitte and her husband Willie run a very nice place. They have beautiful gardens. Breakfast features salmon they have smoked themselves. My husband and I enjoyed our three night stay
The curtains on the windows did not block the light. In Alaska in July, the sun doesn't set until nearly 11 pm and rises at 4:30. We had brought eye shades, so it wasn't a problem, but it may be an issue for others.
Great hosts. Great food. Lots of information in the room so if one is staying for a few days there is time to read about Alaska and the area. Great pictures adorn the room and the view of Kachemak Bay and the mountains of the Kenai are spectcular. Would definitely go back there.
WiFi worked in the breakfast area of the house, but only worked in our accommodation if we sat in the bathroom and we didn't figure that out until we were leaving.
It's beyond a hotel experience. For us it was like visiting a friend's beautiful country house and appreciate her world's best garden.
The owners were very friendly and willing to tell you about the area. The grounds was amazing and the views excellent. The breakfast were good. I highly recommend.
No Tv internet was off and on.
You have a great view, it was amazing. Brigritte and Willy are very nice poeple and the Breakfast was wonderfull. Anytime again :)
View, home atmosphere, and friendly informative host!
Willy and Brigette are amazing. They have an wonderful location and spoiled us with great gourmet food and will be a major happy memory to our Alaska adventure
Ever since I first visited Homer and BBB&B, I knew this will be the place I always stay at when visiting this cute town. It is so peaceful, tranquil, her flowers and garden are just beautiful, the view is the most amazing and the owners built everything themselves! It is just so unique.
The owners were lovely people. They had worked a lifetime making their location truly unique. The property itself could be a small wildlife preserve. The view of the bay and mountains was spectacular...
Everything was perfect.
This place is a little slice of heaven! The setting is stunning and the cabins are simple but beautiful. Willy and Brigitte are wonderful hosts. It's the kind of place that makes your trip special.
EVERYTHING! This B and B is one of my favorite places I have ever stayed.
