It really surprised me staff was great we do a weekend getaway once a month by far this hotel was the best for the money. Will be staying again.
I liked that it was near where I needed to be and there were convenient stores within walking distance for a quick snack at a couple of gas stations. There was also a McDonalds.
There was a portable heater in the room that was warm but not hot. It was already on when we came in and was on the entire stay. 1 day/1 night. Room was on the chilly side. Carpet could have been cleaner.
Staff very understanding and polite.
No iron in the rooms.
good value, good water pressure for the shower, good comfortable bed, good tv,
Front desk clerk
Rug was dirty old, bathroom tile grout poorly filled in overlapping.
It was cheap and in a convenient location right next to Main street riverhead. While it was by no means an impressive hotel it was inexpensive and they did let me check in several hours early.
The hotel used actual keys not cards to open the doors to the room and the lock was busted and was difficult to get in. There was a cigarette burn in the comforter and I thought the all tile floor was very odd.
The window was left open before we arrived in the room. The noise level in the hall was ridiculous. The room was freezing and there was no thermostat to make it warm. The shower Monday morning was ice cold.
Location was great. Front desk staff was very nice. Very pretty grounds.
When first entered room there was a strong cigarette smell mixed with cleaning product. Very dated but clean
The hotel was convenient for downtown. The reception staff were friendly and professional. The ensuite bathroom was very clean. The extensive grounds were pleasant.
The room was in need of redecorating and the windows needed cleaning.
Courteous, polite and attentive staff. very quiet even though it was quite full, our room was very clean
Mattress could have been better and decor needs updating.
Location of hotel for getting to our event was about the only good thing other than the friendly staff we encountered at the front desk during check-in and check-out.
Location around hotel was a bit run down. Room was not very clean, outdated, bed was old and uncomfortable - window AC units were unreliable and looked like they were an afterthought. Bathroom needs upgrade, not enough outlets for charging phones, etc. In general, for price paid, I could have driven just a few more miles away from my event and had a better hotel experience.
Location location location Reviews of this place will never affect their business and that's because of location. We were forced to stay there because it's the only place near the LI Aquarium that's not the Hyatt and we were going for a wedding AT the aquarium. Don't get me wrong, I would've loved to stay at the Hyatt, but that being the only hotel around (besides this Bates motel...) means that they book up quickly. My cousin was only able to secure 20 rooms for her wedding so literally 90% of the guests were forced to stay at the next-closest hotel/motel, which was this gross place. I mean, it is what it is. Just don't say you weren't warned.
Smells like smoke Floors are dirty Blankets are hard Mattress is hard A/C doesn't work Bathroom is gross They didn't even replace toilet paper Sun reflects in mirrors that are directly across from windows, so you can't sleep in the morning Some websites say it's pet friendly, it is not. They have signs saying no pets.
The deadbolt didn't work at all.
Heat did not work
This was my third stay at this hotel, and I booked this trip after getting home from the last, and I'm about to book another. Being originally from Long Island, and having gone to school in Riverhead, I know what to expect - which is why I think others rate this place so badly. I find those bad ratings completely undeserving. Specific points about this most recent stay: Front Desk Staff was quite friendly. The person I dealt with upon check in all three times (for the life of me I am not good with names, I do apologize for that) was very friendly. He bent over backwards to make sure the two rooms I booked were right next to each other to make it easier for us to stay there. Cleaning staff is just as friendly and they ask if you want new towels or your room cleaned. At a higher priced hotel in the same area (that did not have a no disturb sign to put on the door), their cleaning staff got an eyeful after not knocking (I did not book through booking.com or I would have said so in a review), Management accommodated my special requests, and usually got back to me within 24 hours of making those requests through Booking.com The checkout staff knew me by name – despite their always being booked solid and seeing hundreds and maybe a few thousand people since my last stay a month ago – and despite my not being able to remember theirs (again, my apologies). I also wanted to mention – I didn't get to review my previous stay, but a fuse blew at 2:30 in the morning in one of our rooms, and management came to our rescue within minutes (the same person who checked us in on each stay). Not only did he pick up the phone in 2 rings in the middle of the night, but he came and fixed it within minutes. Additionally, he wanted to find the problem and fix it. After turning the power on again, he asked if we'd be willing to show him what we were doing when the power went out so he could see if it was an ongoing problem.
The last time I reviewed, I hadn't used the Wi-Fi, but I rated it fair because of it being available. I've rated it fair again because while it is available, it only worked for me while I was near the window. When I tried connecting to the Internet from the bed, the connection became unstable and dropped out constantly. Maybe management should consider installing Wi-Fi/cellular repeaters in each building to enhance the signal for guests? Or maybe get those lamps that come with an internet/ethernet connection?
Convenient Adequate Close to Amenities
Old, but fairly well-kept Not very secure
that I got my money back for the second night
The bathroom had pubic hair on toilet and floor. The bathroom was also partially unpainted even so far as leaving painting tape around the bathroom door. The air conditioner was missing its grill and spewing dust all over the room. The bed had a shot box spring that was uncomfortable and made noise every time you moved. My hair itched after I left the next morning as if I got bed bugs can't confirm that but my wife had the same problem. I would never walk barefoot in that place.
The staff, and when I say staff I mean Henry...He is a world class - high end - receptionist...Very professional and at the same time friendly, and very helpful...He can work at the top resorts or hotels in the country and Europe....I went to this place twice in one month...The second time because of Henry......
Well, the whole place needs a renovation....The kithenettes need one right away...they do have the space and can do wonders...
The clerk at the desk was very polite. They also had coffee and danish in the morning. The facility was very clean, but not worth $200 a night. More like $79.
This motel was never updated. Literally, stuck in the 50's. The tub did not drain and the room was dingy. The bathroom sink faucet was lose and move a lot overtime I turned on the water.
They had a nice pool, that's about it.
There was orange sticky stuff all over the room, the beds were cheap and the locks on the doors didn't even work. I would not stay here if you have any sense of class or dignity because this place is a dump. The only good thing is the pool (which closes way too early-6pm) and the location.
Good location and price
Noisy truck traffic in early AM, which can't be controlled by the Motel.
central Riverhead location was clean smelled okay had a pool, nice grounds
room needed serious upgrading. rug, bedding and furniture were old, needed painting, fixtures were old, towels were thin.
The cost per night. Downtown location. The pool looked in good shape.
Staff was nice.
The room was smelling smoke so much, even the sheets. Even my clothes were smelling smoke after I left the hotel. Light in the bathroom was barely working. I guess we are just paying a high price for the convenient location, close to the wineries.
Loved the location and the pool was great, the receptionists were incredibly friendly and helpful.
