We were in the old house. We liked the big rooms.Really liked having the big porch to sit on in the afternoon.
Room next to us had the tv on too loud until about 1am
The location was perfect, the staff was friendly and I very much appreciate the inclusion of the breakfast.
I had to leave.
Friendly of staff.
Leaky toilet in room.
The location was excellent, central to everything we wanted to do. The room was comfortable.
More variety at breakfast ie. more fruit, yogurt.
You feel like you are back to the old date, the time does not matter anymore and you yourself is living in an old town in the western movie. Close to the Pacific Ocean Coast, the room has everything you want. A tiny porch is provided for our king bed room. Stuff is very, very friendly.
It smells but we don't mind because you can't expect too much from an old inn.
Deer walking around close by
I wanted to stay another day but my plans would not allow me to.
Everything was nice people were friendly clean place. The bed was great it quiet at night. I would go there again to stay.
Breakfast was ok but should add some protein like hard broiled egg, and fresh fruits!
Quiet location. Spacious/clean. room/bathroom, Fireplace adds a romantic touch. Pool/Spa in a nice garden setting. Staff very friendly/welcoming and helpful. Will recommend to friends and family.
Roomy, large bathroom, quiet, relaxing
Parking awkward, alittle off the beaten path
Big room, good breakfast, near trails and lighthouse
Since hotel is pet friendly, carpet was dirty and our room smelled so strongly like dogs we had to buy air freshener and a candle. Hotel is in the cloudy side.
We enjoyed our stay. It was quiet and had excellent places to walk. The staff was friendly and helpful.
the appartment itself was great for our family needs. the location is great. the manager (I don't remember his name) was friendly and helpful.
terrible carpet smell. the breakfast offer was very basic and there were not enough tables and chairs for everyone.
Location, size of family suite
No advance warning of stairs, lack of lighting, could use ceiling fans
Pretty location, and we could walk from the hotel along the beach to the Monterey Aquarium (~30 min). Helpful staff suggested the 2 day Aquarium pass- same price as 1 day and no standing in line! Clean and quiet. We don't care if the furniture isn't totally color coordinated as the room was bigger and included breakfast unlike the more expensive Hyatt.
The pool wasn't heated, the fire place did not work nor did the jacuzi bath tub and there were stains on the bed comforter and sheets, stains in the furniture. the room was torn up from the carpet and the bath tub had panels tapped in place. the breakfast had junk food and unripe bananas.
Although the buildings are visibly from the 50's, they are well maintained, clean, and renovated. The pool area is very spacious and relaxing. The rooms are the largest hotel rooms I have ever seen. When I first saw the hotel I said to myself "1950's cheap motel, where is that Bates fellow", nothing could be further from the truth. The staff was helpful and friendly, the complimentary breakfast was nice, parking is easy, the grounds are nice, the butterfly sanctuary is right behind the property, the old school across the street is an adult education center and has more than one community garden area. It was delightful to see how herbs and vegetables grow differently in this different climate and to visit with the people working their garden plots. It is a nice walk to shopping and restaurants. It is a nice place to bicycle the back streets and see all the houses built in every imaginable style. And it is just a short ride to the 17 mile drive which is free for bicycles and has a nice bike path all the way to Carmel (20 mile round trip), so that is a right size day trip on bicycles. This hotel is on my must visit again list.
The location - easy to walk to the headland in Pacific Grove where there was lots of wildlife to see. Quick drive to Monterey and Carmel. Breakfast included. Very helpful host.
Some of the furnishings a bit tired.
Staff were nice. Waffles for breakfast was good. Room (29) was huge. Location was quiet and close to Asilomar beach and bike trail. Would recommend bringing bikes.
Fireplace did not work. Called staff and got no help. No AC for hot days. No tea bags. For price, bathroom outdated. Seems clean enough but not completely sure.
Good location, large room, very comfy bed, good-sized towels, helpful staff.
Dirty carpet. Really needs replacing. Tile in bath could have been cleaner. Fireplace needs to be fixed.
Very friendly, charming place. Good breakfast.
Walls and floors were a bit thin. People walking in the room above sounded like elephants and made our windows rattle. No A/C or heating that we could see. (although this wasn't a problem at this time of year.)
lack of restaurant, lounge on property
Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Very comfortable beds, large room, easy parking and so close to shopping, Church, beaches and sight seeing!
My stay wasn't long enough!
We absolutely loved our stay here! It was a beautiful place, the staff and manager were super nice and friendly. It was clean, and a great deal! Thank you, and we will be back for sure!
A very nice and clean room, perfect to relax.
Both the cottage rooms and Victorian rooms are very large. Beds can make you sleep way too long. The windows in the Victorian lined the room and open out to enjoy the breeze and sound of the trees. The POOL and SPA is in a GARDEN!! There is large grassy area, plants, small trees, flowers, patio tables, chairs umbrellas, and lounge chairs. They also have bikes that you can use to ride down to the beach (or where ever) instead of driving! We sat each morning in the "garden" and had breakfast and we ended each night there with dessert. Lying around a pool and sitting in the hot tub, in a garden, was the best feature, even though we loved the rooms (one night in the cottage and one in the Victorian). I have never found a setting like this in any hotel. It made the stay. The manager Eric and his wife are very personable and work hard to make sure each quest leaves happy.
I really do not like pools across from parking lots however, this pool was worth crossing the lot for. The descriptions that say rooms have a garden view and the Victorian Family Suite has an oceans view. The rooms and pool garden are worth staying here without misleading information.
