rooms can be a bit small
The service by staff was excellent. Location was ideal .Breakfast although a bit expensive was very good and served in a fine dining manner. The sleep quality was very good and one just sank into the luxurious bed . Loved the slippers and robe provided. The doormen and concierge services were very good and staff always friendly and courteous. A,very special touch when dining was being provided with cushions to place our hand bags on instead of on the floor . I found that so delightful .
Found it expensive for the period I was there 4th to 9 th Dec as rates then dropped after I left. Due to a medical convention in town the rates went sky high in SF . But I suppose I didn't know about that before. The view from my room overlooked the refuse bins all lined up in a narrow dark street . ( campton street) ..We were not allocated a high floor room as requested.
We love the staff & the beautiful facility. My husband loves the fitness center, I love the dining & FREE coffee & fruits before the race!!!!
In every way, from arriving to departing three days later, this hotel is first-rate. Also, the dining is outstanding.

Left car unused 3 days in valet parking. Upon departure, battery was dead, needed to jump start, remote door lock no longer works. Car battery is only one year old.
Great location near shops & restaurants. Had a nice view of Union Square. Service is outstanding. Awesome breakfast in the restaurant.
Pretty pricey, especially for biz travelers, so this was our first time trying it out.

ive stayed at this hotel many times...it has lost its "polish" over the years. not sure if owners arent investing, or dont think its important. the place used to sparkle. the rooms look tired as does all the wood finishes. had to call about a stopped up sink....thats "hotel "101"! the price to stay here in not cheap, so i expected more. i will probably not return to this hotel on a future visit. i would tell others to stay if location is important...but otherwise, shop around.
Location. Close to china town, union square and walkable to the ferry.
Issues to check out a day early to leave transferred around. Not a 5 star feel. So overpriced for what you get.

The high price for internet! And what I found impertinent was, that you had to pay for each device extra, so when using laptop and mobile phone you had to pay for each! In addition the wifi was so bad, that I had change to cable/LAN- and had to pay once more

The dining experience was above average, slightly above upscale.... The Internet speed. The food overall. The room ambiance. The people on the other end of the phone. Room Service. $30 cookies were deelish.
The gentleman Hotel Manager on Saturday evening I had an issue with..... I was in a rush checking out and Valet brought my car 20-30 minutes late..
Location is good. Walking to shopping district. Concierge and door man are good and helpful.
Don't stay on 16th and 17th floor. The sound of the lift machine and cables will not let you sleep. Also reception when requested to change room, they asked me to sit in the lobby and spend the night.. Had to call them three times and took one hour to arrange the room. And not once did they apologise for our discomfort. This hotel is not a true Taj. It's basically ruining the name of taj and India.
The old fashion service, turn down bed service, all the little amenities in the room, the breakfast (you had gluten-free toast!). I will stay here again in the spring for the annual dermatology meeting.
Great locatiom, close to main department stores and within walking distance of ferry terminal.
We Loved the Hotel. The concierge Perri was so helpful and lovely. The front desk was wonderful! It was a fabulous trip. The bed linens were so soft and a pleasure to sleep on at the end of long, fun days in SF.
A very well run hotel with a professional staff. The facilities are not exactly that of a luxury hotel but the rooms are well furnished.
The rooms on the lower floors are quite dark.
Basic business class hotel. Bathrobes were exceptionally nice. Enjoyed the breakfast service.
Understaffed check-in desk. At time of out check out there was only one person handling both check in and check outs on a rather busy Saturday morning. Management should know better and save cost elsewhere than on personel risking damaging customer experience which certainly was the case with us. Maybe a small nuisance for some I found it unacceptable to wait half hour to settle the final bill (and make several corrections on it once presented)
