A family-run little B&B near the cliff-walk and downtown is the best way I can describe CanField. The owners took great care of us and did everything they possibly could to make it a nice stay! There was no ceiling to the bathroom. It is literally two dry walls in the middle of the room. It wasn't too bad, but not 100% convenient.

Very nice warm place. We loved the location, the facilities, the decor and the owner was so welcoming we felt like home. Thank you very much for the wonderful stay! Oh yeah - the lunch was delightful on outside terrace! I would not say we did NOT like it but the absence of the bathroom door was just a little not comfortable.

Our stay was one of the best we had in a long time . The Inn is located in the heart of Newport . The added bonus is they also have a restaurant located on the main floor . The food is outstanding . The owner made us feel so at home . On departure I enjoyed our stay so much I had to give Maggie a huge hug .

The staff at canfield were excellent and accomadating. Relaxing atmosphere and good food. Paul and Betsy were extremely friendly and enjoyable to converse with. You are able to bring your dog and they treat your dog so wonderful. I will go back, as they treat you like family. My only complaint is we had the smallst room, however cozy, as well as tvs are very small. Also air conditioning in hall and stairwell would be nice, but the room was very cool. Thankyou canfield for an enjoyable stay.

Quite apart from it's excellent location, some of the best food in Newport and very comfortable beds..... this hotel is managed by great people. The staff - all of them - are 100% dedicated to the guest (s). Enjoy the tradition of the main dining room or the casual elegance of the outdoor terrace - you'll feel better for getting to know the Canfield House!

Perfect location for a Newport, RI stay. Central to everything. Also, the outside deck restaurant and bar was fabulous. In addition to the fine dining inside, this outside area really made the Canfield Inn stand out as a fabulous B&B location. The breakfast could be improved a bit, both in presentation and substance. Basically, it was orange juice, coffee, choice of several muffins, and some yogurt. Perfectly adequate, but it was the least impressive part of the stay. If there was any room for improvement, this would be the one area I would mention. But, I consider this to be the least important part of an otherwise thoroughly satisfying experience.

Great location. Lovely quiet rooms. Handy to all conveniences and shopping, but nicer to be slightly apart from the busiest tourist shopping areas. Staff friendly and inviting. Best mattress we have ever slept on and we are particular about that. Would definitely stay again. We are not big breakfasts eaters so it was perfect. If you were looking for a full breakfast this was a continental simple style, again great for us.

The staff was amazing, the owner, maggie did everything to help our weekend be special. The manager, paul was on hand and very friendly and helpful. The wait staff and our waitor, patrick, saw to it that our anniversary dinner was perfect. We loved the location, close to everything. A middle point to the mansions and the waterfront. The price was a great value for the location and service, felt like home. We were pretty much left on our own (this is not a hotel-no turn down service, linens and fresh towels in the hall) but you get what you pay for in my mind. The breakfast was practically non-exisistant but we expected that from previous reviews.

Canfield House is charming 19th century New England and very comfortable. The owners are friendly, accommodating and the restaurant is excellent. Because of a bad knee I would have enjoyed an elevator! You have to climb a rather long staircase to reach your room.

Interesting old house with good bar and restaurant, nice people running it, centrally located to Belleview Avenue mansions, historical sites and within walking distance of the wharf, shops, restaurant and visitor center. Very nice continental breakfast. Four guest rooms were somewhat worn and lacked basic amenities (in the room, though available if requested) like drinking glasses, tissues, hair drier and there was one ironing board and iron for all guests. The house was difficult to locate and the entrance lacked signage that might have facilitated guests with the search. For the room rates charged, the charm, decor and value did not meet my expectations.

The location was wonderful. It was just a short walk to downtown. The room was very nice with Victorian decor. It was very clean and comfortable. It was strange not to see any Inn staff the whole time. There was nobody to check you in or out besides one of the waiters. I'm not even sure which credit card they are going to charge. There was nobody to speak to about any concerns.

The owner was very kind and hospitable. We really liked the fact that it is very small, I think they only have 4 rooms. The interior was very nice, gave us the feeling of sleeping in an old colonial house. The dinner was very nice. Very good price quality ratio overall. A small disadvantage is that because it is so small and it more a restaurant than a hotel, there is no 24h reception, so it is not possible to drop your bags before your check-in time. We arrived 2 hours before official check-in time (14:00) and the restaurant and B&B was closed, we spend some time knocking on the doors and looking for someone and the decided to just go into the city and come back later.
