No steady heating water for showering
Staff were unbelievably friendly and welcoming, perfect location hardly ever used public transport at all. Very much felt independent with 24 hour entry and key codes meant I didn't have to rely on anyone. Very much a home away from home.
Bed very uncomfortable
It is awkward that they ask us to take off our shoes everytime we arrive the hostel and put on their slippers (specially when the floor looked so old). The cleaning should be better: we found a tick in a bed and the bathrooms were dirty (and it was low season). It was hard to take a hot water shower (the taps are in bad shape and need to be fixed). The worst was the heating system. It seems to have only 2 options: off or extremely hot. In the first night I slept cold, in the second night I slept almost naked!
The wi-fi connection was quite good in the living room. Waffles, jams, cakes and teas were avaliable for free. Huge lcd screen in the living room.
No Luxury-Hotel but a very good! Take warm clothing and a beanie with you if travelling in cold season - upper Dormitoties have no heating ;-)
All our bad points came from the hostel, the booking was a bit unorganised. The communal area was occupied by a couple of staff members and some guests, with the staff members choosing what was on tv without asking the guests what we wanted to watch which annoyed me as I asked if they were going to watch the ufc, to which they replied "no just watching some movie". The shower we used was cold... A good no thrills place to stay though
We stayed in the apartments across the road for $111 - $130 a night and they were amazing! Then stayed in the hostel for our last night at a cost of $94 and it was a big let down in comparison. If you are traveling as a couple of is well worth the small difference in price to stay in the apartments. Either the hostel or the apartments are in a great location, a stones throw from the mall/capital building ect!!
They don't care if you let them know that you're coming at 9:45 pm, you'll be out in the cold without a hotel. They lie and say you can come at 9:45 and 15 minutes after check in.
The personal at the luxuy apartment (Masscourt luxury apartments) were rude and unpolite. We had a reservation that started with a check in at 11 am and the receptionist was rude about it and told us we had to do the check in at 4 pm. We had to go back to Capitol View hostels (where they were REALLY nice about it) and came back again to another concierge who was also kind of rude to us because the check in was supposely at 4 pm again. With a lot of effort, he finally agreed to do the check in at 11 am.
The people at the Capitol View were really kind and trying to solve our problems right away.
I spent 2 cold mornings because they turned the heating off ti save some money I guess. And most if the time there was no staff.
Relatively clean hostel. easy procedure. good location but I don't think it was worth the price.
Stanley was so lovely staying late to let me in. Very friendly staff, good facilities and comfortable bed!
Kitchen cupboards rather than open shelves for storing food would be a good idea.
Great location ~5 min walk from the conference centre and very close to the main sights etc. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
Excellent location Very clean Nice and friendly star
I could feel the spring of my mattress in my back all time... The shower facilities should be checked for their functionality more often, some fell in pieces...
Good location, as very central and close to Union Station, the federal triangle and downtown. The staff was kind and supportive.
I love this place and the people.
Breakfast not included
Nice and friendly place, close to the main attractions. Room and bathroom are clean. Internet connection everywhere.
Everything was in order. The only thing was I did not receive a receipt onsite for my cash payment. My receipt was sent by email to my office.
The staff was very friendly and helpful especially staffer Sarah.
I dont think they changed the bed...
Temperature in room very high, couldn't lower it despite help from concierge
Very spaceous Good beds Very good location Rooftop pool and jacuzzi were delicious
The room was infested with ticks / O quarto estava cheio de carrapatos
The staff, the bed, the roof top pool, all wonderful!
Was meant to stay here 3 nights, but ended up staying 1 night and checking into another hostel because I got bed bugs. I can 100% confirm they were bed bugs despite the manager coming up with 100 other excuses. The whole place is old, smelly, falling apart and not particularly clean. Also there are homeless people outside yelling at all hours of the night. I would recommend the HI Washington as it is cheaper and much better located and even if it says it's full, it probably isn't because they leave space for walk-in customers.
1. Got a refund 2. Sarah the receptionist is good
The bathrooms are not separated (the bathrooms are used by men and women), however, there is a lot of privacy. You have to bring your own locks or you can buy locks for $5.
The hostel is at the good place near the city centre. The rooms, beds, bathrooms were clean and comfortable. There were friendly peoples. Good place for staying for short time.
Someone stole my food from the common kitchen. No mirror in the nearest bathroom.
One of the best hostels I've been to. Friendly staff, pretty good wifi and quite comfortable dormitories. Great location and nice roommates.
Stanley didn't make me breakfast, and there was no free vodka ...
nice stuff, nice place , close to town ...
