I could have stood still and enjoyed the view from the Lagoon Room for hours upon hours. But then I had dinner at the window in the restaurant, where the food was impeccable and the service great. That view was also amazing, we watched the effects of the sunset on the colors in the sky and on the water and then saw the moon rise and reflect off of the bay - spectacular.
The rooms were not luxurious, but were clean and neat and met our needs. And really, with the ambiance of the grounds, we didn't really care to be inside. The bed was comfortable and nicely dressed.
Excellent location, lovely old building, good continental breakfast, although the coffee was cold
The front desk kindly offered to lead us to our room, a good distance from checkin and couldnt find our room. We stood in the cold and dark for 15 minutes, after dragging our suitcases, while 2 x she went back to the office. Although almost empty we were given a room with an obstructed view.
No shades on window or glass door!
Atmosphere was relaxing and personable. Comfortable and quiet. A great place to unwind.
No alarm clock in rooms. Very small but quaint rooms. Breakfast was good, however very limited.
The Restaurant and View were great. The front staff were helpful when we requested a room change
The room was very disappointing and not very clean. The furnishings were old and worn out.
The property is wonderful. Next time I will stay in a lagoon room or cabin. The view from the Inn room is spectacular.
The Inn rooms have paper thin walls and share a bathroom. There is no air conditioning, so we slept with the window open and worried about bugs. The bed felt like it was 100 years old.
Location right on the water, lovely setting and heritage building with suitable ambiance.
Lots of stairs to get up to bedrooms and very old and narrow stairwell at front of Inn. Limited privacy. Had to get up at night and leave room to walk down hall to shared bathrooms. Difficult to get back to sleep. Tiny bedrooms and no soundproofing between rooms.
The motif made us feel at home, while the location still provided a refreshing get-away with its beatiful view.
Beds seemed a tad on the soft side.
The view on the lake was awesome! There is even deer just walking by having no fears of humans. You get real dishes, knifes, forks and spoon at your breakfast. Rich variety indeed, everything is freshly made and none of the food tastes like sugar!
Shared toilet and shower with other guests was the thing we didn't expect :-), but very clean. But you get your own sink with warm water in your room. You have to get used to the smell of the wood.
Loved the location right on the water in Coupeville. Property was built in 1907 so property is a great reflection of times gone by with many cool buildings and great decor and gardens. I would have rather eaten at the restaurant to get that ambiance than stayed here overnight.
Room did not have en suite bathroom in old house portion of property. This was not disclosed when I booked the room on booking.com. The building was also very noisy with squeaking floors. The property emailed me a said they had a 7-day no cancellation policy as opposed to what booking.com said was a 48 hr cancellation policy. I just want to know the real story so that when I arrive tired, I do not have a big hassle. The rooms that are not in the main house are musty and cold and a poor value for the price.
The lagoon room with a view was beautiful
No wifi was available, incoveniencing our plans to get some work done during our stay.
-The room was visually appealing with old fashion wood work and view of the water. -The waterfront and property was very relaxing. -
- The wifi did not work in the room. - The breakfast was okay but could use more items for the money spent. -The rooms could use a hair dryer. -Booking.com site could use information about babies not aloud in certain rooms before booking takes place. They forced us to upgrade because we had a baby it was over $ 70 more and if canceled $115. - The girl upon check in was not very happy or helpful. No information on breakfast or the hotel was giving.
Location was fair
No private bathroom Old facility with squeaky floors Had to whisper to keep neighboring room from hearing Dining room was closed the night we were there Inadequate space for hanging clothes Very dissatisfied
The view. The location. The porches. The water. The lagoon. The old inn. That it didn't have a television. That WIFi didn't work so well.
I wished the restaurant had been open. Perhaps a better mattress.
The restaurant was great. The food was incredible - on par with a high class restaurant in a big city. The chef was inventive and creative. Want to go back and try everything on the menu.
The room was bare bones with a really good view.
Very, very rustic. Hasn't been updated for years. Despite the historic nature, sheets and blankets can be new! They were very worn. Very small rooms. If in the main lodge you must share a bathroom. We had many stops on our two-week trip. Captain Whidbey Inn was the worst accommodations. Ironically, it was also our highest priced room. Would not recommend.
location and breakfast was far better the the promised 'continental."
soft bed in lagoon #24, no bath tub, and very small shower
location was nice, quiet and overall good.
Bed quality was very poor. Could actually feel the springs in my ribs while trying to sleep. At $175 per night, I expect to at least have quality sleep.
Scenery could not be beat Excellent food - four star Bartender was great Lots of personality - building/staff wise
Place is a bit dated. WiFi - slow/almost non-existent
Location...especially view from our window.
Restaurant was closed for two days.
The beauty of the area and the food, including continental breakfast
No bathrooms in the Inn...fortunately we moved to a cabin
the setting is beautiful and the lagoon rooms are private and comfortable...the contininental breakfast was great!
Dinner in the tavern: the young waitress was trying hard but most of the menu wasn't available (apparently they'd had a very busy weekend) and the bartender was really stressed out. My salmon sandwich was really good, but heard other diners laughing over the small portion of the chicken drumettes. The bed in my room (in the lagoon wing) was really old and uncomfortable.
We are repeat visitors. We love the location, rooms, verandah, breakfast, available newspapers, books...pier...and the wonderful staff. Ate in restaurant, a terrific chef, top notch and great waiter.
There was no plug in the sink and had to find one in another room and the bedside lamp was a problem but for another light the night person found one for us.
Liked the staff, the history of the place, the attention to upkeep, the ambience, the other guests that were attracted to come there.
Soundproofing between rooms leaves something to be desired, but not sure this is fixable because of the historic and authentic site of the hotel.
