It was so run down that we didn't even stay there. Furthermore they billed my credit card, which I'm fighting. when you open the door and a roach runs under the bed, what else can be said!
The staff were warm and helpful. The showers were hot with great water pressure and the rooms were very clean. The grounds are peaceful with large mature trees.
The carpet could use a cleaning.
lOCATION PRICE AREA GROUNDS SERVICE every other place was booked when we found the Lodge. We found it roomy, close to market, dunkin donuts and to Rockport where we were heading.Would defintiely stay again,,kind of old but everything you need without luxury.Staf was very attentive and nice..Couldn't beat the price.Good heat and shower was hot and powereful.Would like tostay in summer to use pool and ground facilities...
NEED BETTER PILLOWS SINK STOPPERS NO COFFEE POT NO SMALL FRIDGE
The staff were very friendly. Central to many things
The sheets had stains on them. Our stay was for two days . Disappointed staff didn't come in for house cleaning as we had buckets that were full.
The location and size of room
Quite a few spiders in the room. Neither plug in the sink or bathtub worked. No coffee maker. Bed and pillows very poor. Carpet old and dirty.
King bed, large room with high ceilings, good location. Clean and HUGE.
TV was snowy and hard to see, no ESPN or FS1 -- unacceptable. A little musty, but clean. Very dim, not enough plugs near bed.
I was a warm place to sleep. 5 minute drive from where I had to be.
TV did not work properly. Since I was checking in after the staff left, I was not given the code for the WiFi. I could have used it for some work
The toilet was leaking onto the store floor during our over night stay. There was not a hair dryer in the room. The office didn't open very early in the morning. Wasn't able to locate a vending machine.
Rooms were clean and spacious
The pillows were awful! Need either more pillows or better ones.
The location was great. My wife and I visited the Gloucester area with four other people and had pretty much resigned ourselves to staying close to thirty miles away and driving into the area. I came across the Captain's Lodge and was excited that there might be a place to stay right in Gloucester at a very reasonable price. After reading quite a few reviews, I have to admit I was a little uneasy, from a few real negative ones. I didn't want to expose my wife, her mom and our son and daughter in law to a bad situation. The positive reviews gave me some reassurance that it would work for us. Upon arrival, I found that the person in the office was very courteous and helpful. The grounds themselves could use a little facelift but the rooms were fine. Plenty of room, we slept well and no sign of uncleanliness. Not fancy, but great for a night's stay and close to everything.
There was nothing that we actually disliked. Here's the thing- if you are looking for the finest in lodging, you'll be disappointed. If you need a decent place to stay, it's fine.. The Cape Ann area is a beautiful place to visit and I'm really glad I found this place and was able to stay right in the area.
Quiet, in a good location. The staff was helpful and I would recommend motel for someone who wasn't fussy about extra's that usually are available when staying in a motel. Plenty of hot water for showers we stayed eight nights.
Had to pay extra for fridge, microwave, no coffee maker.
The shower water pressure was awesome.
The room was very smelly. You had to hold the toilet handle down till it flushed all the way. Electric plug near the bathroom sink didn't work. The shower curtain was a foot too long and dragged in the tub.
beds were too hard
It was a little run down, but for 1 night it was fine.
easy access to rockport
poor quality of pillows - room was at the end of a ramp and you had to carry luggage all the way - no place for a car to get near.
The motel was very shabby and run down, The stove in the kitchen was dirty. the lighting was poor and most of the outlets did not work. The tub was very stained and rusty and the towels were very old and thin. It definetly was not worthy $200 for the night.
Motel is old an a little creepy. Needs some modern updates. Windows need a good cleaning. A/C barely able to cool the room. It must be awful when its a hot day. Rooms are right out of the 70's. Would not stay here again
Cumfort / close to every thing. Peaceful,
Fix and paint outside. Eye appeal is very important,
good value for money. staff very friendly.
No refrigerator, No microwave, are food spoiled. No breakfast and the room cost alot of money. Couldn't get ice because the office was closed, It was much to expensive for a room.
The place was clean and quiet. It was worrisome from the outside, but it was OK for a night of sleep.
Lots of traffic late at night which wasn't about vacationers. It truly felt like we stepped into the past. The motel looks and feels like a place out of the early 1990's at best. Mauve and blue with a very dated look. We were there for one night before going on a fishing trip. Just fine for that, but not for anyone looking for much more than a night or two.
just the location
matress very old and saggy, bath tub dirty
Price No bedbugs No bathroom mold Adequate AC though very loud Staff pleasant and helpful
Old worn furniture Burn holes in the blanket Cheap pillows Bathroom was outdated and tired, paint splattered on the wood frame, hollow doors, loud fan, dirty looking tile floor Lighting terrible Very loud AC
good location to all attractions.
A small fridge in the room would have been convenient.
The place was clean.
The owners children playing basketball in the center court yard at 7:30 am on Sat. We were not up yet, but we're up as soon as we're hearing the pounding. That was not good. And no Coffee. We were out as fast As we could.
