Room and Bath
Travelled with our 96 yr. old mother. The many steps were a problem....steps coming in to building, steps going up to elevator (after long ramp).
I liked the proximity to downtown, the friendly staff, and the bars on premises.
In the motel section, heat is the old fashioned blow heaters by the window..it was a little dry.
The house-keeping was very good, clean sheets and towels most days.
We were geeted by a very rude and moody receptionist. When asked about the room we were told ours was a motel type room down the street. When we questioned this he said, "well you DID book a buget room didn't you". We felt very humiliated by this remark as we did not know that a buget room was a 'motel type room'. He was extremly miserable and did not offer us help with our cases we had to ask and wait for a porter. We would not recommend this hotel.
Simple, clean comfortable, well-maintained.
Paper-thin walls/adjoining door in motor lodge. Wee-hours partying next door kept us up until 3 am.
Beautiful old building Room very clean and updated
Only a block from public transportation, neighborhood is nice around the hotel, the motor lodge is basic and small but clean.
bathroom was very small
More affordable than downtown
Still pricey. They forgot a wake up call but luckily I woke up.
Wonderful staff. Great restaurant, perfect location!
I loved the location. Close to everything. Many great places for food and drink.
I did not like that we were told AFTER payment that our room would not be in the main hotel. The room was fine, but the motel is not mentioned until After you pay.
The hotel, its location and nearby stores.
The iron board was broken. There was only 1 trash can- in the bathroom, but not one in the kitchen. The Internet was terribly slow. Lots of small things that wouldn't have been hard to fix. The effect was that it was frustrating and inadequate.
Nice hotel of older vintage. Well maintained. Friendly and helpful staff at front desk. Hotel is a block away from the Green Line rail to downtown Chicago. Very convenient. Around 30mins to downtown. Location great for architecture buffs in Oak Park (FLW), The rooms are comfy and the bed was good. We'd go again.
Had no bad experience on this trip.
Good access to Metro Calm and clean
A little bit noisy during the night
Location. Easy access to public transportation. Courteous and helpful front desk staff.
Bedsheets and pillow cases not changed regularly; even after repeated requests.
Right in Oak Park, the purpose of our visit, Also, close to Green Line rapid Transit to downtown Chicago. Parking on site. Good value for money in economy suites.
I LOVED the curved ceilings in the hallways! Being built in 1928 it definitely has much more charm than a newer hotel does.
Walls are very thin, so you can't count on a good night's sleep (we had a crying baby next door). Room was clean but shabby. Front desk was unable to answer simple questions about long-distance phone calls. Cleaning staff knocking on the door before 10am.
Proximity to Wright house and the train and good restaurants.
Location and cleanliness suited us just fine!
Quiet and very comfortable. Like going back in time----
Beautiful, charming hotel, large spacious room with two beds, dining room, kitchenette, bath and dressing area. Excellent value...felt like home in a big city. Menu looked wonderful at Barclays...wish I had more time!
Kind of confused as to where to park, ran inside to ask while parking in loading/do not park zone)then parked and walked down alley (at 11 p.m.) only to have to walk back outside to put a parking pass on dashboard)
Clean, friendly, and quiet.
The room was large, a separate kitchen, two bathroom sinks, great storage space. We liked our accommodations better than the Hyatt or the Marriott, of which we stayed in both during our trip. We will be back!!!!
