Staff were outstanding and very helpful.
I would like a better parking option.
The staff was great and the hotel was clean.
The walls are thin so you can hear everything going on next door, upstairs and outside. The location wasn't ideal. You were a 12 min walk to the square and a 25-30 min walk to the wharf, the area is a bit sketchy. I would opt for someplace closer to the square.
thin walls, no refrig or AC , neighborhood Ok ,but can be iffy at night. happy wine in afternoon but music during was way too loud could not hear what people were saying.
Staff very pleasant and helpful
Good location close to shops and bars and only a short walk to Union Square. Free wine tasting every night was a bonus!
No air conditioning In the rooms meant we had to leave the windows open during the night for some air, but this let a lot of noise In and made sleep quality poorer. There was also no fridge In the room but we found out after a couple of days that you can request one and they will bring It to your room
The rooms were nicely decorated and the finishings linens were modern. Nice happy hour in the lobby
Air conditioning controls, if there were any were not to be found and adjusted. Soundproofing in the doors would help. I didn't hear people next door but I did when they walked the halls.
Everything about this place was great. The valet service is super easy, walking around to our destinations, the room was beautiful and the beds were comfortable. I'll definitely stay here again.
My friend didn't like that there wasn't a bending machine. I know that this place is billed as a "green" hotel but what does that have to do with a vending machine?
The Carlton has that unique SF feel you can't get anywhere else, especially places like Hilton and other chains. Near Nob Hill, and a few blocks from Union Square. If you have a car, a main artery (Van Ness) gets you conveniently to the bridge the Wharf and Seal Rock. Great wifi, TV, and nice rooms. Simply put, if you stay somewhere else---including the Marc Hopkins, the Drake,or Fairmont--you are making a mistake. The staff will know you by name by the same day, and not phoney.
Not a thing. Not a single thing.
Very loud environment. Could not sleep due the traffic sounds.
Excellent staff. The wine/entertainment on Saturday night was a great bonus!
Everything was super!
The staff are so friendly, they are ready to help the guest and answers all the questions...we stayed gorgeous 2 nights and it was very comfortable...
The staff were wonderful. Made our children feel very welcome giving them beach balls as a gift. Hotel spotless clean. We ended up staying an extra night here. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Breakfast could be cheaper.
I couldn't have been happier with the staff and the cleanliness. The room was so nicely decorated, not the cookie cutter of most hotels, even the elevator was interesting.
The staff was super duper nice :-). Close to cable cars and Market Street. Good restaurants are nearby.
Staff was amazing; super friendly and helpful. The facility was decent and very clean. Cute restaurant on site.
This area at night is very sketchy. Not an area you want to explore past sunset. The elevators are tiny.
Chose this property based on price and a friend's suggestion to try a "Boutique" hotel. Location, price appointments, staff were all great.
It's well done refurbished establishment but the walls are a bit thin. Fortunately we were on a quiet floor.
Great central location, nice view of city and excellent staff!
The staff - especially the daily Snazz (Theo) - were spectacular. The hotel is well situated and provides everything you could ask for in a central location.
Better noise insulation o the doors - but we were probably the noisy ones! :)
Good location, within walking distance to Union Square. Nice friendly staff. Clean rooms and modern decor.
The neighborhood is a bit dodgy. Small elevator.
Staying at the Hotel Carlton was a pleasure. This small hotel was perfect for location, comfort, and food. The room was colorfully decorated, the bed was comfortable and the accessories were great. The restaurant is amazing. The service, smells and food were fantastic. It was a real treat to have such an interesting restaurant in this hotel. As a solo traveler, I felt safe and well taken care of. I would not hesitate to recommend the Hotel Carlton to other travelers.
Staff !!! Especially at the reception really cool . View from the room Value
Location , close to rougher neighbourhoud , a bit grim at night.
My room was exceptionally clean, completely spotless. The room was cleaned each day with the same results. The bohemian style of the hotel was charming and fun. I was more than impressed with the staff. They were beyond helpful, very welcoming, and completely professional. The staff truly made our stay at the Carlton 10 times worth what we paid. The location was great too... it was located in an area with great restaurants and bars just a few minutes walking distance. I feel like it was centrally located, all major tourist areas were within a $10 taxi ride. Our room had a wonderful view of the city, and we paid minimum!
The only thing that I would suggest to Hotel Carlton is upgrading the wine at happy hour. It's a completely free perk, but it's pretty obvious it's cheap house wine.
We'd love to stay again if we had a chance to visit SF.
Disappointed by the breakfast at Saha (not so clean, not really testy). The neighborhood was terrible so might choose the better location for the next SF trip.
Restaurant in the hotel is excellent. Staff is very helpful. Reasonable price. Not far from Chinatown and other spots.
Great room with comfortable beds, good bathroom and new tv. The staff was very friendly and the location was perfect for every San Fran must do. The restaurant next door, Fly, had cheap but amazingly good food!
The noise! We had a streetside room on the second floor, we could hear everything from the street and from the hallway and the rooms next door. Very thin walls!
