Cute and clean remodeled rooms in a nice charming old building in a fairly quiet location. The staff was very accomodating and sweet as well. Great price too.
The building has huge gaps under the doors so you can hear everything happening in the hallway we had a great room location but our neighbors insisted on slamming their doors until almost 2:00 in the morning. If you have noisy disrespectful people next to you you will get woken up several times!
We missed the happy hour but the lobby atmosphere was great.
The only negative was that when we booked the hotel, we booked a room with air conditioning. This was important to my wife because she has trouble sleeping if there is street noise, so we wanted to be able to keep the windows shut. But no air conditioning and we had to keep the windows open. Street noise was not bad but there were a few sirens and such as that.
Cute and hospitable. All of my needs were met nicely. The walk to and from the conference was a good work out and appreciated :)
The only constructive criticism I have is the dusty smell/feel. I wasn't sure if some of it was incense - but my sinuses were bothered. I'd suggest replacing/removing the carpets... and power washing the windows and screens.
Staff were awesome, restaurant in hotel had great food! Wine tasting in the lobby.
Bed wasn't comfortable
Staff are wonderful, location is excellent and it's good value for money.
The rooms were far too noisy. You could hear your neighbors, plumbing and cleaning crew in morning. Quite difficult to sleep.
It was very loud, my friend and I stayed for the weekend and every night it sounded as if we were sleeping outside. The walls between the rooms were very thin and we cloud hear everything happening in the next room. Add to that, the person next door was smoking and the smoke all came into our room.
Quiet, clean and friendly
The situation is very near the Tenderloin area which is a bit scary to walk through.
The staff is excellent and the free wine and cheese hour with live music was pleasantly unexpected.
A bit too close to the seedier side of San Francisco [Tenderloin District] but that area is easily avoidable if one travels in the right direction.
location is close to everything but on an unattractive block.
The beds the grumpy valet the incense the pillows having a fridge carried into the room no microwave..... I could go on. It was so bad they did not charge for the room.
the wonderfully kind and caring staff, extremly welcoming and helpful. thanks again to marc, theo, gio and adrian...and the ladies from front desk, as well as sweet johnny and edgar, i miss them already ! great location, perfect to get virtually everywhere you want, beautifully designed interior in a stylish cosy and unpretentious colonial style, right up my alley !
breakfast. the dark unwelcoming facility and the presentation of the dishes as well as the quality of the breakfast itself. i missed having a small fridge in my room. not the hotel's faute, nevertheless the occupancy tax of more than 40$ per day, on top of the other taxes, tore an unexpected hole in the budget, it unpleasantly adds up, especially during a longer stay.
Locatuon of the hotel was decent and the facilities were to be expected. Nice with nothing over the top. What made the stay great was the staff. They were friendly and helpful at all times, answered any questions we had and made us welcome. The wine reception they have daily was a really nice touch. Everything you need at a really acceptable price so overall can't ask for much more!
I liked the style, furnishings and overall attitude of the staff. Very positive and inviting.
I didn't like the extremely noisey neighbors next door. The Hotel Staff was helpful and tried their best to address but, it is what it is(or was)...
We liked it all, and especially liked the comp wine--the staff brought everyone their own bottle. Wow. This is a great hotel and a great value.
How easy it was and bright and cheery.
The late evening noice.quaint
Room was modern in its own way. art was nice
Walls are a bit thin.
Friendly staff..just nice
No privacy the walls are so thin... I could here the fella next door take an article of clothing off a hanger....NEXT DOOR
Location not ideal.
Everybody working at the hotel was very nice. The room was in good condition.
If you like to use public transportation from the airport when you travel (as I usually do), the nearest BART stop is about a 20 minute walk away. And the walk is through a pretty sketchy neighborhood.
Very polite staff, nice location, nice room view
Busy area, but hotel is pretty quiet. If you are sensitive to urban areas ( this is near the tender loin, a gritty part of the city) then it is not the hotel for you.
The cable service was poor, it came in and out.
