Absolutely beautiful hotel. Charming, comfortable, and a pleasure to be in. Will definitely be returning.
We paid about $300/night. The kitchen was beautiful, but the bedroom was very dark, with 2 tiny side windows right agains a fence. When we checked in on 4/9/15 the gentleman at the desk was extreamly rude. He said there were not children allowed. I stated we had been with my 8 year old daugther in October 2014. He challanged me that it couldn't had been because he had been working for 4 years. I asked why this was not mentioned before?. He challanged my statement until I showed him a picture of my husband and my daugther at The Vandage front desk. When I did my reservation on booking.com it was not flagged nor noted that children were not allowed. He made us feel very uncomfortable. He went to The Vandage website and said the policy was right there "NO children ALLOWED" was there. I went back to the website and did not find that statement in a prominent place. It may be in the contract. During breakfast one of the mornings we were there, there was one family with a 2 year old and another couple with an infant. I learned thru the housekeeper that there was a guest that an extra bed was provided for their child. It is very unfortunate to have spent over $1,000 for 3 nights and our business was not welcomed.
The gardens are beautiful full of flowers. The breakfast is very nicely put together.
Breakfast is not served until 8:00, which was too late. No coffee in the room either. They need to start serving breakfast at 7:00.
Room was updated and clean and comfortable. The location was close to Highway 1 and one mile to downtown Carmel. Nice wine ad appetizers in the afternoon.
Floors in part of living room , bedroom, and bath were very slippery and dangerous. Needed to have area rugs. Could be a liability case.
Breakfast, wine and cheese in the evnings, bright cheerful room, staff
Location was easy and close to where I need to go
Walls were paper thing, traffic kept us up and the room was so small our luggage almost didn't fit. Needed ear plugs for sure.
Check in was easy and we were close to town.
The room was very small. We had to ask for a chair to be removed just to be able to access the tiny closet, television and mini fridge. Also, the bed is very soft - probably nice for some people, but if you need a firm bed, be warned that this place is not for you.
The landscaping is beautiful, but I wouldn't say there are gardens here. I booked it based on reviewers talking about the gardens. I guess when I hear the word "gardens," I think of expansive places. Here, there are just some plants in between the rooms. They are nicely done, but it's not like you take a leisurely stroll through the gardens.
They really need to step up their game when it comes to coffee (the only breakfast item we sampled). It was watery, bland, and just plain bad. The bed was firm enough to be uncomfortable, and the pillows were extremely flat and inadequate. Pro tip: bring your own pillows or request extras early; when we asked for more the second night, they only had 1 left to give us.
Loved the value, how new and clean everything was, and that the staff was very friendly and attentive. I'd probably stay here again.
The bed and pillows not comfortable. The room we stayed needed a small bistro table and chairs.
The room and grounds are beautiful. The continental breakfast was superb. Love the wine decor!
The breakfast was just okay. Small, and not nut allergy friendly. It was a bit awkward when I asked to have yogurt without nuts, and I was told I could scoop them out. That's dangerous for someone with a severe allergy. The quiche was delicious, though!
I requested a room wth a being since it was a trip for our engagement photos...not only did we get the balcony, but they upgraded us as well as our photographer, to a King room!
Wish there was TV in bedroom. The value, price of room and continental at best breakfast does not mean its worth the money? Overcharge by at least 30%. I stay in area a lot, bad value.
Gardens were nice, also the little wine hour or 2.
From first floor room, those staying above could be heard moving back and forth and tromping down the stairs. No fan or hooks in the bathroom made it difficult to use the mirror after a shower and find places to put things.
Breakfast was the best continental we'd ever had and evening wine/cheese was exceptional.
What's not to like? Look at the smiling faces of the other guests, it'll tell you a lot.. Super Friendly Staff. Terrific Breakfast and Happy Hour. Comfortable Beds. Easy access to downtown and the Hwy.
Breakfast provided was miserly.
Location good. Room was fine and bed was very comfortable.
Small room no view. No coffee making facility
Shower water pressure was a little low, some road noise in the morning, both very minor issues.
Completely remodeled room and bathroom. Beautiful grounds. Very comfortable bed.
The only ventilation in the room is from windows. I was not comfortable opening a large window in a ground floor room. Room got a little steamy after a shower.
Almost perfect. The room has been nicely refurbished and updated. Parking was close to my room. The morning coffee and croissants were delicious.
things are all good!
The bed is comfortable. The room is Very clean. And the hotel's environment also very quiet and cozy.
Slightly off from the town center with restaurants and shops (10-15 mins walk)
Nice staff and nice little breakfast. Cute garden.
Room was a bit small.
Great setting & breakfast
Rooms are very charming with nice balcony. Breakfast with FRESH fruitsalat!
nothing really, we really liked the place. it's close to the highway, but it didn't bother us at all...
Loved the overall vibe of the place - a quite and beautiful rural place, great for relaxing and enjoying the great places around. room is beautiful, we actually taken some styling ideas to our own home. breakfast was light, but good, and healthier than in most similar places - we liked it. all in all - great place
Wine and cheese was a nice touch, but the breakfast was pretty minimal. Cereal, packaged Danishes, fruit and hard boiled eggs with bland coffee. Meh.
The suites are brand new as of 2/15. Nice kitchen with a breakfast bar. Nice master bedroom and also a small seating area. This place is about a mile and a half walk into town. If you like walking and enjoy a quiet hotel, this would be perfect for you. I saw places in town that were twice as much and not as nice as here. I guess it's all about location.
Helpful staff. Large comfortable rooms. Wine and cheese hour. Good breakfast. Lush gardens with comfortable seating around fire pit.
