Staff was very accommodating and provided a take-out breakfast because of an early tee time. Great location, close enough to walk to Main St. but far enough away for peacefulness.
A little difficult to find.
The owners and staff were very knowledgeable and helpful about the Carmel and the surrounding area's establishments and activities. The morning breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese spreads were simple, but, very tasty.
Room was a little dated.
This Inn was a few blocks off Ocean wwwhich is Carmels busiest street so it was quiet. You could see the ocean from the second floor. Wine and cheese at four pm and breakfast was all tasty. Owners Mary and Susan were very friendluy and helpful.
Breakfast and hot d'oeuvres were excellent. Home baked and prepared items.
Coffee was a little weak for my taste, but I imagine they have to please the most people.
Terrific staff! Proximity to Ocean Ave. Easy parking. "Best pricing" compared to other properties. Quiet. Good bed and linens. Nice wine and cheese hour. Nice, minimal breakfast bar.
Black mold in shower. Wet rot elsewhere around the bathroom. Bathroom needs a lot of work. Terrible lighting; no place to read, even in bed. Nice big floor-to-ceiling mirror but there is no lighting so it's essentially useless (since the overall lighting is so poor). Even though it was "best pricing", it is still awfully expensive for what you get.
Loved that our room had a living room. Susan and Julian were super hosts.
Slightly overpriced but still worth it.
Staff were so friendly, helpful and just wonderful people full of excellent recommendations and advice. The location was brilliant - leave the car and walk throughout carmel. Bed very comfortable and bathroom good. I hope to be able to stay here again! Carmel itself is an enchanting town, literally like a fairy tale with fabulous restaurants, dolphins every time we visited the white sandy beach.
Worst breakfast we ever had and we travel extensively ( all over Europe and China). Carmel Garden inn served boiled eggs and full of sugar yogurt.
Location is great, rooms are clean
Our room was very small. WiFi was very slow.
I have a great bed at home, but this one was a great as the owners bragged about. The attention to detail in the room was amazing. The culinary offerings were by far the best on our trip. The staff made this place and every positive comment on them in past reviews were lived up to and more.
Dennis, the Inn keeper is gracious and had some wonderful recommendations of restaurants and activities. He was friendly and made us feel at home.
Where to start? We booked late (only 3 wks in advance) so we got their last, and smallest room. It was so small there was barely room for our luggage. Still, it ran us $175 a night. The room had not been remodeled or updated in decades. The walls were partially painted. The closet was all but inaccessible. The bathroom was old, (like the room), rundown, had no décor and had almost no counter space. The pillows were so hard and uncomfortable that my neck still hurts and the sheets felt like sand paper. It was a bed and breakfast so when we made our reservations we were asked if there were any dietary restrictions. We said there were; severe dairy allergy. They not only did not provide any alternatives to the wine and cheese but they served an all dairy breakfast. There were no non-dairy options at all so we went out to breakfast. In my opinion they should remodel and update the place before they rent out rooms, stop renting the 10 x 10 room we were stuck in all together, and if you ask your guests if they have any special requests, like dairy free food, they should be prepared to oblige.
Nice lite Inn with a great breakfast! Really friendly staff
The staff was great...friendly and full of information about the area. The room contained a wood burning fireplace which was wonderful on a cool Carmel evening.
My only negative comment is that the bathroom fan (which went on when the light was turned on) was incredibly noisy. In a small room, it was noticeable.
I loved being able to bring my dog and stay in the downtown area of Carmel.
Everything was so nice, more than expected since we were not sure about it being older and a smaller Inn. Room was clean, warm and cozy for a nice getaway! Owners were wonderfully attentive, accommodating, and helpful! We enjoyed delicious homemade breakfasts, a "real" wood burning fireplace in our room, and a wonderful cheese and wine in the afternoon and smores if we wanted in the eveing!
The room was a little on the small side, but all the other details of our stay make it well worth our choice in staying at the Carmel Garden Inn.
We were on our honeymoon and perfect quaint place to stay, complementary cheese and wine between 4-6pm There are hummingbirds that fly around the gardens which is beautiful! It's a short 10 min walk down the hill to restaurants shops and beach . Free and easy parking. Hosts are friendly and wood to make fire in your room.
Exquisite ambiance Remarkable staff, outstanding people Beautiful grounds
Not a thing
The room was very cozy, bed very comfortable & the bathroom was sparkly clean.
They raved about the homemade breakfast that would be served, when we arrived they only had yougurt, hard boiled eggs, cereal & fruit. As we were leaving they brought ourt some breads. Not at all what they had described.
Location was quiet, nice and the staff very friendly and helpfull. The breakfast was very good.
Room was very tiny almost too cozy. TV monitor was placed high on top of the amoire and when opening and closing amoire the monitor moved and almost fell over.
Great personal touches like the home-made cake/ bread for breakfast and the helpful tips on where to go sightseeing and for dinner. If the owner knows where you are from, when you make the booking...he even puts out your national flag for your arrival...just lovely.
very cute place! really cozy! loved the staff and in room fire place. walking distance to downtown!
The location was the best part of this B&B-close to Ocean Ave. Breakfast was good. Staff was nice, welcoming.
Tried to use the fire place but got smoked out! There was quite a bit of street noise during the night/early morning that kept us awake.
Julian, the owner, and the entire staff were so very pleasant, helpful, and hospitable. This is a charming property that is within walking distance to everything, and it is affordably priced. Breakfast and happy hour were intimate and very tasty. We couldn't be happier with our stay here!
