I recommend studying there for those who are not concerned about the little details. Staff is courteous, pool is small but causy, a 70s-style motel that has been refurbished to become a little bit upbeat. Location is nice but not the closest to the beach at all. I will stay aged in there but no high expectations.

    - Really close to place for breakfast called 'From Scratch'. - Nice swimming pool area. - Clean room. - Comfortable and clean beds.

    - There was a constant loud noise outside the window, as if it was the engine of air conditioning or a big fridge. We were there for only one night and it was the end of a long trip so we did not bother complaining. It was annoying considering we had asked for a quiet room when we booked. - Pricy restaurant.

We enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. The location was good for traveling to Big Sur, Carmel, and Monterrey. It is an old motel that has been refurbished. It is nicely done, but I thought kind of pricey for what it actually was.

Threadbare bath robes. Shouldn't have bothered to offer them if they were going to be so old and worn.

I really like it when your room is made up for you whilst you are at breakfast! Lovely area to visit. The staff were all friendly.

Orange juice not included in breakfast!! Limited breakfast menu. 'Happy Hour' with 3 drinks...not that happy. The M I is difficult to find - why not just say it is next to the petrol/gas station and put better signage. Warning for those leaving the M I that people are accessing the gas station and not watching out for you!

The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. I had been driving all day and was relieved to have friendly faces at the desk when I arrived late in the evening. I screwed up my pre-paid reservation and arrived a day late. They gave me an extra night at a really good discount although they certainly didn't need to- the hotel was near-full. They were just being helpful. The place is fun, casual enough, but clean and well-run.

I have to say the decor was a bit Las Vegas circa 1960's...turquiose with sea shells, etc. I'm not used to this kind of style, and at first I was half-expecting to see Frank Sinatra playing piano in the foyer. But once I got used to the California-beach theme, I ended up really loving it- it's definitely got more character than a typical chain hotel. The price seems high to me, but thats just California coast summer prices. I would be happy to stay there again.

Hotel location was close to restaurants and shopping. There were some very good restaurants within walking distance.

Would liked to have been a little closer to the beach.

mid century design, pool-centric rooms, wonderful staff. good location close to ocean ave and carmel valley road and a lovely beach not far. Note, we did not prepay for breakfast, so we didnt eat it there.

cost of all hotels in carmel ...outrageous. this cost the same as a nice hotel in the center of town off ocean ave. Next time will stay there.

Pool, hot tub, robes, room darkening shades, walking distance to Carmel-by-the-Sea, very close to Pt. Lobos.

Told we could charge our bill to a different credit card than the one used to reserve. Gave the alternate card at check-in and departure, but the entire bill turned up on the card we didn't want to use. Also, many loud children at the pool disturbed the peaceful setting.

The room was large and clean

I had booked the room months in advance. I was placed in a room by the stairs with no view and paid full price. While last minute travelers paid lower price and received great rooms. No loyalty to people pledged to stay in your Inn. I will never stay here again. I will go back to the Ranch/barn. For less money!!!!!!!

Conveniently located right off the highway next to a shopping center with a fantastic little French bistro, coffee shop, fuel station, just a couple miles from Refuge Spa. Also just a few minutes over to Ocean Ave in Carmel. Clean and comfortable beds, very friendly staff. Feels like it was recently renovated with colorful, modern feel... heated pool, outside sitting area with open gas fire pit.

If booking a romantic getaway would recommend something closer to downtown or somewhere with a view, but for budget-conscious or family road-trip this place is excellent.
