The natural beauty of the surroundings
everything needed updating and some TLC
I liked the tall ceiling in our room. The bed was very comfortable. What a nice touch to have breakfast brought to our room. We enjoyed walking from our room to the beach and downtown Carmel.
The wifi did not work well in our room.
Excellent and helpful front desk.Delicious free breakfast delivered to a cute historic cottage, Really nice with a fireplace and comfortable bed free WiFi,microwave and fridge!enjoyed our stay!
The cottage was very comfy and private. The fireplace set the mood. Not having to get up to go to breakfast was wonderful. They bring it to you. It was a continental breakfast. We will be going back there soon.
It was a nice size room. Beds were comfortable. The ceiling architecture was charming. Morning breakfast basket was more than we could eat and the weather was great that weekend. All in all a great trip. The price was great too.
They are older but have been updated and nice for the price.
The facilities are poorly lit and it was very difficult to find our room at night. We were placed in the back, next to the trash bins. The rooms looked uncared for, like they were falling apart. Television wouldn't turn off in my mom's room, and stayed tuned to 1 channel in our room. The pictures/ads for this place are deceptive - it looks like it's owned by neglectful people who have neither the money nor the desire to take care of the property. I feel sorry for the staff. Breakfast was terrible: Packaged muffins and packaged danishes. WiFi didn't work.
The ease of the location to find for someone unfamiliar with the area and the individual cabin.
It was a bit on the old and shabby side. Needs a good upgrade.
The tranquility of the location. Fireplace quietness.
There was a gas leak in our room and we couldn't get a hold of the staff late at night when it woke us up as it was New Year's Eve. My mom had a horrible headache the next morning and all they did was discount $40 as compensation.
Will not recommend nor return ever!
Love the location, on neighborhood street with a front door and driveway, like you live there. Walks from the cottage are gorgeous in all directions. Located at the upper edge of town, everything is in walking distance if you like to walk, shops, restaurants and ocean. All in this cottage was functional but older. Bed was big and comfortable. If you request, they bring you a basket of munchies in the morning. Quiet. This 'suite' was big and roomy.
This cottage was more rustic than the first one we had earlier this year, which we had liked better. The decor is not their top concern, a bit funky. TV was to the side wall of the bed and awkward to see...Loose bricks and stones, unwound hoses all around the cottage were a bit dangerous. Old mattresses remained out the back of our cottage next to the trash for a couple days. Again, all tolerable if you love Carmel and want to be there for a few days. We would likely request our first cottage again, but maybe not this one which was called "Spyglass". We just stayed out and about until time to get ready for bed. Sip a glass of wine then it turns into paradise amidst the trees.
breakfast is vey good, they serve 2 apples, two large cakes, 2 yogurts, and 2 juice. The cakes are not very sweet. We go there in Winter time, their bathroom equipped with warmer, and children won't feel cold there. The wall fire is also good.
No dryer in the room, and we don't know how to call the front desk, more worse is no serve after 9:00 PM. The wifi signal is terrible, I can't connect to the wifi 60 minutes after I try and then I give up. Bed is not clean, there is some sands in the bed. Also, my wife found cockroach and spider in bathroom!
Confortable bed Free breakfast right on your door Quit place
nothing in particular
1) 2 bedrooms and living room - they gave me an upgrade for no additional fee 2) Breakfast basket - lots of food!
1) A bit more 'run down' than the photos showed. The living room had an odd smell - like 'pet fresh' carpet powder 2) Road noise from Carpenter Ave - very busy part of this road 3) Light over sink in my bedroom was out. . .I let it be because we were there just 1 night
comfy bed, lots of lounging space, lots of tv channels
wifi was just ok.
The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was delivered to the room each morning. Convenient to restaurants, tourist attractions, and shopping. Cheap in comparison to other motels. Parking on site. Lots of privacy since there are individual cabins.
Bathroom vanity area was so small that I had to put on my makeup in the living area using a portable cosmetic mirror that I had to hold in my lap since there was no vanity to put it on. One of the living room chairs was the worse for wear and we had to put a pillow on it or sink nearly to the floor. There was no maid service one day because there were only 3 cabins rented that night. They did bring us towels and took our trash away when we called about it. Wi-fi was very slow. But we found it slow all over the area.
I found a lot of things wrong it should have been fixed that wasn't plus there was cobwebs I had to clean myself
Carmel is one of the most beautiful places I have been. The inn is comfortable with a big room. Very relaxing with no noise in the night. Free parking space
It's a little far from the city center so you need a car and during the night carmel has no public lights. The hair dryer didnt work and the internet worked but a little slow
Looks around the cottage. The looks inside the cottage. Convenience of car. Breakfast basket a nice touch.
Hot water. Waste a lot of water trying to get to hot water if it appears. Location is on a main access road into town. Not conducive to walking to the main part of the town.
A motion light in from of your cottage was a plus. It could be very dark at night. A continental breakfast basket is left on your doorstep with muffins, juices, and yogurt cups.
Inn is located in a residential neighborhood. Carmel, except for Ocean Ave, does not have street lights. It was hard to find and we got lost in trying to return to it after dark. Inn is advertised as 'on Carpenter Street between 1st and 2nd Ave. It does not display a street address for GPS folks. For the elderly, the mattress could have been firmer.
Away from Carpenter road is best For quiet and relaxing visit. The breakfast was delicious.
the relaxing rustic feel which is Carmel
