Reasonable price dog friendly nice to walk the neighborhood
Was all good
Nice setting with beautiful landscaping. Good service.
Our room bordered shabby. Maybe the cabins better. Wi fi didn't work
I loved the isolation and the quietness. It was very nice and made you feel rested and safe.
The beds were a little stiff
Made reservation based on web site info.. Found info to be misleading. The entire property was run down and looked poorly maintained from the outside. Moldy showers on the inside added to the " ambiance" Would not have stayed the first night but could not afford to lose the money.
Convenient location close to downtown Carmel, shopping centers, and Point Lobos State Reserve.
Facility is a bit too old and road sign was poorly situated. Should indicate clearly the road access to the hotel.
Very nice little room !
Bed is clean and comfortable ,view are nice.
Phones were out of service，and Wifi never contacted
The grounds are beautiful and serene. Very courteous staff. I liked the rustic.
Needs a serious upgrade. The thermostat was finicky and I got really cold during the night. I got it to work the next morning. The shower door would not stay closed. etc etc etc...everything is just worn out. just old.
This hotel was build with something only slightly thicker than tissue paper which means you can hear every step from those above (and no, I don't mean faintly, I mean it will wake you up out of a dead sleep) and all of the talking, crying, and screaming of the 3 year old next door, as well as her parents trying to deal with a screaming child.
Forget the main motel, it is the cabins at River Inn that provide a relief from the upscale glamour of central Carmel. They are clean, cute, and quiet, and surrounded by mature trees and open grass and lawns, perfect for pets or kids to roam. Crowded touristy Carmel is just a few blocks away yet seems to be in another world. This is not the Playa, Hotel but who needs that noisy place at triple the price.
The grounds are a little shy on upkeep, but the interior of each cabin is clean, newly painted, and comfortable.
The location was great. We went to big sur one day and drove up to Santa Cruz the next
The wifi wasn't usable...
The room was big and the beds were very comfortable and big as well. Everything was quite clean.
It was pretty cold inside, in late Nov. there was no heating yet.The room furniture and fittings were worn out and the room really needed some redecoration. There was also a weird chemical smell coming from the bathroom area. No breakfast.
Cheaper than other hotels nearby.
The hotel didn't know how to do on tax exemption.(so I didn't get tax exemption)
I was under the impression that I was getting a fireplace. When I arrived, they didnt have any rooms with fireplaces. Wouldnt ahve paid that price for what i got...
The view from the balcony was beautiful but it was very hard to find on our GPS. We had to stop twice to get directions. The cabins were charming.
Hard to find with GPS on new car, inroom coffee was not convenient, the bed linens were spartun, decor was not cozy but clean and in good repair
*Employees are friendly, ready to assist Guests, but are also affected by state of conditions very much not their fault. * Location, surroundings/patio * Shower-power was terrific * All units are in need of remodel and upgrades, so I see much potential for a fine hotel/cottages at some future time when new owners take charge.
* POOR lighting; needed to ask for additional lamp beside bedside- not enough light in both side table lamps for reading. - light in corner of room ( only one) was very minimal- gave a dim atmosphere * NO microwave oven *Tiny one cup Coffee Machine *Small corner table had Tray Glued onto it. Left over space did NOT provide room to sit down and use ( for writing, eating etc). *Small Fridge was on a piece of 6" wood- stuck on floor *One small sink/poor water pressure/ limited counter space for 2 people *Small hanging area for clothes * Old gas wall heater did not turn on; repairman needed to come in for 20 minutes to fiddle with unit/took it apart- but fixed it. *Water stood in Shower and would not drain. (did not drain all night). Manager suggested we notify them at 8:00AM day of check out so that maintenance could come in and fix drain. Said 'No", would not be convenient for me. By time we left 10:50 Am next morning discovered water on floor of closet and bathroom. Management did not offer to refund any money for all these inconveniences. *Exit OUT of terrain places one on busy Highway intersection- view to either side is somewhat limited. Have to pull out fast to get on this Major highway. No stoplight. *Old dilapidated rooms, much damage in wood, paint bubbling- would have felt paying $ 55 or so would be fair. *Damaged Curtains with huge holes * Damaged blankets/old with many holes and tears *small pillows on bed * Wood rails on back of bed- NO pillows for comfort. Heard they are now under new ownership- will be curious as to what the new owners decide to do with this place.
The bathroom is so small.
The location was close to my daughter. Because I had the door wide open all day and night, the hotel pet cat came and slept on the bed with me and she killed a mouse and left it for me next to the bed. I'm an animal lover and found that endearing.
Housekeeping used SO MUCH chemicals in the room that we both were adversely affected within minutes. I had to open all the doors to air it out and keep the sliding door wide open at all times, night and day. There were not enough blankets for "camping outdoors" so I had to bring a down comforter from my daughter's house. PLUS, when I asked for another night extension (all other places were filled and the place was convenient), they surprised me with the cost: $175.00 for that night! The other two nights were $89!!! and they were on Thanksgiving and the day after. They over charged me because I complained.
We booked a suite, but we upgraded to a cottage for free. It's very romantic, with a small garden in front and at the back, just recently renovated, with a fire place, new bathroom and shower. Staff was super friendly and pointed out a few gorgeous spots nearby
nice location, very large rooms
Nice room and atmosphere.
Not crazy about the cig butts left outside in the fireplace.
Pretty setting, quaint little cabin, adequately equipped, in a convenient location.
Location was good.
Very plain decorations making room feel cold. Bathroom pain pealing off the walls, toilet paper cheap. We were on the bottom floor, very noisy just from people walking.
dog friendly, clean
The location. rooms were very clean, comfortable and lovely. Enjoyed the fire place.
garage and luggage racks were dirty. Did not make a good 1st impression. We would not put our luggage on the racks.. they were disgusting.
