location, price, bed, fireplace, tv, wifi, breakfast better than other places but still only a token snack. Clean!!!
morning help (person who brought by breakfast) was not very friendly - young gal - but office help for check-in and check-out were nice. Loud kids with a family next door.
No shelf in bathroom to sit thing on. Room 302
I've stayed at various hotels in Carmel for 20 years and this was my favorite by far. The rooms are large and very comfortable, with lots of amenities like fridge, microwave, keurig, fireplace. Breakfast delivered to your door is a nice touch for anyone lazy like me. The location is great, just a couple blocks from ocean (the main street). Staff was very nice and helpful. It's not the cheapest place I've stayed in Carmel but the quality more than made up for it and I've definitely paid more for less in the area. I look forward to staying here again.
The wi-fi didn't work great for me, but my boyfriend had no problems with it. My laptop is a little older so that might have been the problem.
Location and comfort!!!!
Can hear noise from neighboring rooms easily.
Very comfortable bed, friendly staff and good location.
WiFi didn't work.
The room was very comfortable, with robes supplied. The location was good - only a short walk from Ocean St (the main drag).
Sadly, our room had an interconnecting door with another room. The couple next door came back fairly late, with the husband (Brian - yep, we could hear that much) singing 'Que sera sera', and a fairly noisy argument ensued. So, nice room, shame about the noise.
We visit Carmel good few times a year. This time we were on the way from Vegas and wanted to relax before going home to SF. We chose this hotel because of the hot tub. I checked the Booking.com add on my phone while driving and this hotel was one of the "cheapest" with the hot tub available for the night. That made our day :) Another nice touch to the room was the fireplace. Overall it's a nice, cute Inn with good facilities and location, but that's standard for Carmel. They also have sauna which is great.
Carmel gets pretty expensive but I still don't think the price for this hotel should be as high. I have stayed in many hotels different countries and paid much less for same/more facilities. Another thing that we didn't like was breakfast. They say they deliver continental breakfast to your room. In reality, you are given a piece of paper when you arrive with 5 choices of food you can order: orange juice, flavored yogurt, ham&cheese croissant, plain mini croissant & cold cereal; you also choose from 4 time slots when the breakfast will be delivered to you (between 8:15 & 9:45) and then you are disappointed on every level! Both croissants are mini and I mean MINI and the juice was just a small bottle (for 2 people) of pasteurized orange juice which is awful and so NOT California like! Because we have ordered only this, we had to immediately grab more food in town. They have coffee machines in room but don't provide milk or creamer so you have to drink black coffee. And I forgot to mention that we ordered our brekkie for 9:45 and it was delivered 20 minutes earlier which woke us up before our alarm clock. Another issues: key to the hot tub & sauna is given for 1hr only and closes at 9.
I liked to location of the hotel.
I had to go down to the office to ask for a roll of toilet paper as ours had run out. Not to mention the quality of the toilet paper. I thought I was staying at a four seasons not a motel 6. The staff was a bit standoffish, on the second day when I went down to inquire about our breakfast being delivered, her comment was well you have to order it every day. Well how would I know that as their was no order form left in the room each day. You have to go to the front desk to get the form. Are you kidding me.
The customer service was excellent and the stay was lovely. I would not want to pay full price for the rooms as it is outside of my budget, but for the reasonable price we got on booking.com, we were more than satisfied with the hotel. If you get a reasonable price snatch it up immediately.
The room is spacious and the bed very comfortable.
The access to the room (steep stairs).
The area, the room and location perfect
The reception staff was somewhat "distant"; not rude, but not friendly. The continental breakfast is unimpressive in comparison to other properties - the Adobe Inn comes to mind.
Mattress, locAtion by ocean, quick room service, reasonably priced room service meals with no added charge for room service
No microwave---I need it to heat a gel pack for arthritis, and to warm up coffee that was ordered with a meal from your kitchen
This property is within easy walking distance of restaurants, shopping and the beach. A friendly staff brings a breakfast basket to your door at a time you have chosen and prepares homemade cookies in the afternoon. The room was lovely and had a fireplace in one corner, a small microwave (with a bag of popcorn inside!) and a mini fridge. Comfortable swivel chairs provided a great place for reading, TV watching and having breakfast.
It's a tad pricey, but it is Carmel!
The laid back vibe with an appealing room due to size, cleanliness, amenities and comfort. On site parking and walkability of location to everything but the beautiful beach. Friendly, efficient staff.
Unfortunately there is no elevator so be forewarned you may have to negotiate 3 stories. While equipped with an electric 'fireplace', the only hope for cooling is a bank of windows open to every passerby. Something to think about in terms of privacy, security and noise. On a minor note, staff even noted while clean, carpet long overdue for replacement due to sagging and bunching.
Location and privacy.
Pillows and mattress not so comfortable.
Located steps to shopping, excellent restaurants, coffee houses and wine bars and even a terrific yoga studio. Perfect for travelers who want to investigate the central coast.
location ..perfect... very cozy
No air conditioner or ceiling fans ( was little hot for us )
steps to climb
So much detail in everything....a note on your bed with chocolate when you arrive. The towels and tissue fanned. The room was decorated in a cottage theme that was perfect for the town.
The location is perfect. The fireplaces are nice. The flowers and grounds are pretty. The staff is very helpful. The frig and microwave are very convenient. There is parking (not necessarily enough; we had to park on the street most of the time).
In most rooms the only window in the room is on the Very Common walkway so your choice is to be on display or (for me) feel like you are in a cave. There is no elevator to move your luggage to your room. The housekeeping staff should be more security aware.
friendly staff, (although a bit strident about check out) great location
no a/c, missing glasses for drinking, other guest left in the middle of the night
The room was nicely decorated; we enjoyed the ease of using the gas fireplace; the location of the Inn is very good for walking to restaurants, shops, or Carmel Beach.
When making the reservation, I read that complimentary cookies would be available for guests each afternoon - but saw no cookies; the housekeeping staff was quite noisy at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning (speaking loudly and laughing out loud)--in my opinion they should have been whispering; the Inn should have provided more coffee instead of just enough for 2 cups of regular (not decaf) coffee--this was an in-room Keurig coffee maker; the carpet was dirty; I did not feel that the cost of the room, $235.00 per night plus taxes, was a good value. All of the above can be overlooked, however - to be honest, what bothered me the most was the noisy maids on Sunday morning.
Location ideal. Staff friendly. Nice casual atmosphere.
Bucket breakfast, shower curtain too big and a bit moldy. Bed pillow awfull, Should have a selection on bed.
This place is right in the heart of Carmel and is walking distance to everything. So many fantastic restaurants right on your doorstep. The breakfast provided is basic but it was good as we were keen to get out and about straight away. They deliver it at a time that suits you in the morning which is a nice touch. The room was beautifully clean and well presented, and a great size. They also have a coffee machine in each room which was a nice touch
Wi-fi was a little slow at times but really, in such a beautiful town you shouldn't be worrying about the speed of wi-fi!
