Location was pretty good and the inn had a nice patio and there was complimentary wine in the evening. The rooms were cosy.
Too expensive for what you get. Breakfast consisted only of bad carbs, no protein, no veggies, no fruits. That is not a continental breakfast. The fireplace's pilot light made the small room horribly hot and we couldn't find where to turn it off. Had to call someone to do it, since there was no staff at the inn in the evening. The owner didn't seem very nice, but the rest of the staff was very friendly.
Good location, close to downtown an not far from beach (both walking distance). Friendly staff, spacious rooms. Plenty of parking space in surrounding streets.
WiFi worked in only select portions of our room.
Cute courtyard, nice location...near great restaurants, shopping and wine tasting...on site parking.
The room was run down...holes in the wall where the curtain rods use to hang, the "spot" painting was so beyond noticeable and there was mold in the shower curtain...need I say more.
Location excellent and staff where friendly and helpful.
Rooms are a bit dated.
Location and garden patio/garden
Morning front desk staff were not very friendly while afternoon shift person were delightful! Had to ask for shower curtain to be replaced because of meldew. Property owners need to invest in upgrading the rooms.
The position was excellent, staff very helpful, I would stay there again
Had fridge which was great but needed to have a coffee maker and bottle opener
Location and a small garden inside the Inn
The location was good. The man (john) at the desk when we checked in was most helpful about places close by to eat. That breakfast was included is a plus
There were some things in the room which needed repair or replacement, particularly in the bathroom. The towel rack made use of the sink and mirror difficult. A directory of TV stations would be helpful. The exterior door was balky - had to punch it open with key in full right position.
We arrived early and we were allowed to check-in early. The location was prime and complementary wine tasting was offered at 4p.m.
Do not stay in room #18. It's behind the parking lot and we were awaken several times from people coming/going at all hours of the night. Continental breakfast was okay, however the dining room is very small and hard move around. There was no hand soap in the restroom and no trash can.
- Close to Big Sur, - Very nice old building, stylish, - Helpful staff, - WAFFLES FOR BREAKFAST! :)
- small parking, - reception is not 24/7, but you can call them and ask to leave the keys, which is fine.
I have never staid at a hotel so dirty, old and expensive like this hotel if thats what it is...seriously I would have much rather staid at a motel....people never stay here not worth a penny...Very expensive
The location is good.
Cleanliness, facilities, and staff service are very poor.
Very good location. The hotel has its own atmosphere like the whole town. Friendly service.
Close to everything and can leave car parked
Beds, TV , bathrooms and only street parking was available bc only 7 parking spaces in lot
The location. The flowers and the patio.
The breakfast. Minimal choice, poor coffee, no fruit available.
we booked the room in the morning for the evening and got a bargain: $99 for a family suite. it was comfy, not far from the centre, good breakfast and friendly staff. Loved the village of Carmel, definitely worth seeing
The breakfast was delicious. The town is beautiful. Given the chance, I would stay here again and again.
comfortable bed and good wifi connection, friendly staff wine tasting welcome early evening a nice idea, didn't use as I do not drink
no tea/coffee making facilities in room, decor shabby, grubby in corners and around lights, carbohydrate breakfast only, no fruit available Carmel is expensive I think - all very quaint and "boutique". Very pretty place. located at the top of a hill.
I liked the happy hour with wine and crackers. The outside garden area is quite nice and a great place to relax and read, enjoy wine, etc
We didn't like that our room was right about trash pickup on Monday morning! We slept with our windows open to enjoy the ocean air and it was an early, noisy morning...prefer to have a room on the inside area of hotel. The only other thing was I need protein for breakfast and it only consisted of carbs! No eggs, peanut butter, etc...Lots of people need to have that in the mornings...it was pretty much waffles, toast or oatmeal.
Can not connect the WiFi...
Nothing. We were glad to stay in nearby Monterey for 3 days after and wished we'd never gone near this place.
This place is clearly run on the basis of demand far exceeding supply in Carmel and the numbers of 1st time visitors who can be fleeced and will never return. Before I even arrived they tried to rip me off for a full night's room rate on a changed booking. Even charging $30 for a change nearly a month in advance is something no decent hotel would do. I had a real fight with them and Booking.com over that. Filthy poor quality "family" suite which was an old dirty sofa and mattress on floor with nylon sheets. Run down bathroom like a fleapit motel. Terrible miserly breakfast with undrinkable cold coffee, stale breakdand miserable selection of sugar cereals and rather old looking cold hardboiled eggs. I have to ask why Booking.com is still advertising it on their website.
very poor selection for breakfast, my husband is diabetic and there was nothing there for him
The breakfast was appalling. The staff there was quite unfriendly. The bathroom needsa facelift. The carpet is wrinkled. I would not stay here again.
maybe .. location close to the Carmel main drag, but still not the bet spot if you want to explore the beach (the main Carmel attraction)
THis is basically a motel Six for $399 a night . Everything about th eproperty screams "cheap" and "shabby". THe room we booked was advertised as a "family suite"... well the bedroom in the "suite" turned out to be a walk-in closet with a fold out bed squeezed into it. The property looks like it has not been touched since early 1970s. It is reasonably clean (no cockroaches) and smells like it has been kept smoke-free recently. Breakfast included - but don't even bother unless you want to wait for you turn at a single 25 year old waffle maker. There were a few European vacationers who seemed to enjoy it as a Wild West Adventure, but seriously .. more than $400 a night after tax ??? I think the $39.99 is the fair price for this place
decent value for the location wine tasting in the afternoon beautiful courtyard and garden owners/managers were lovely
side table and lamp too far from right side of bed for reading
