The owner/host is knowledgeable and helpful about area dining and wineries. Generous in virtually turning the house over to you. The Carriage "museum" is not to be missed.
It is a place we would visit again for a couple of days.
The view from my window The olive grove The two horses The vineyards The architecture The carriage collection The home that felt like my home 6 new friends, intimate visiting yet privacy if needed... Delicious breakfast and "help yourself" food when ever you wanted from huge beautiful kitchen Larry had time to meet us all in between dusk, dawn, and his 13th grape picking ... nice guy, great story... Will return
Not much.......... I had difficulty getting cell reception and my ipad was not totally functioning for "sending" messages . . but, I was on vacation and I didn't care... No other problems at all..............
A beautiful house amongst olive trees and the vineyards. Delicious breakfasts and thoughtful details in the rooms. Very comfortable room, place was a gem.
Every little detail was thought of - fantastic decor, luxurious linen, comfortable bed, comp bottle of wine and cHocolates on arrival. Larry the host is very friendly but lets guest do their own thing and make themselves at home. Great location close to Paso Robles with plenty of wineries offering tastings, great restaurants and beautiful scenery. A great secluded place to get away - would definitely stay again if in the region.
Larry does an outstanding job of making himself quickly available for any questions or concerns. Great experience
quiet place, we have have had two seperate rooms and a wonderfull terrace great for stargazing. Owner was very helpful and gave us some good restaurant recomandations.
Quiet. Stayed mid week. Only one other couple there. Off the beaten path. Great star viewing at night. owner is warm and friendly.
Larry was an excellant person to have as not only keeping Carrage House in excellant clean and relaxing condition but also very knowledgeable about activities around the aerea. The staff was friendly and courteous with any questions first timers, as we were, would have about our relaxing and restfull retreat.
The biggest problem we had was finding ourselves lost when returning to Carrage House in the evening. With the darkness at nite and us not familar with Templeton we would find ourselves getting lost returning back. We cannot complain though as this was a great feature leading to the quiet and relaxing time when we were your guests.
Really enjoyed the quiet, the wildlife and the fabulous Carriage House and all the carriages displayed there. Larry went out of his way to make sure we had a good breakfast despite having to leave early for a graduation. Very hospitable host.
Bathtub a bit uncomfortable and difficult to get in and out of.
Location - a truly beautiful place in the country - close to a lot of wonderful wineries People - a, fantastic host who could simplify the complexity of growing grapes and make it understandable to non-agriculture folks. Breakfast - really good food. Hospitality - was just fantastic! Condition - Quiet, clean and comfortable.
Wifi was a bit spotty - but who cares? Do we really need to be 24/7 connected?
Accommodations were great. Bed was lit along the canopy frame and surrounding the bed. Really pretty affect. Home was comfortable and snacks were available for our late arrival. Owner aimed to please. Excellent breakfast! We will return for wine tasting. We were just there for the night after a tour motorcycle bike ride which lasted 9 hours.
While the location itself has it's charm because it is remote, for us, it was a little far away from places we could go for a bite. What I would recommend is if you are going to be late (after 6:30), make sure you have had dinner before arriving.
Owner, view from upper accomodation, breakfast, available activities, etc.
Breakfast was great and room was comfortable. Bed was very nice.
Owner not there to greet us, just left notes all over the place. Therefore, the place did not have a very welcoming feeling. He did come down for a few minutes to say hi the next morning. Also, and more importantly, there was no soap in our room and there were no drinking glasses in our room. We called the owner and he apologized and told us where to get them. Then other people that we sat at breakfast with, asked us how we liked the complimentary bottle of wine. We did not receive that either. We stay at B&Bs quite often, this was one of our least favorites and we will not return.
Outstanding facility. Great ambiance and location. Proprietor Larry Smyth makes you feel welcome and at home amidst his beautiful vineyard. The Carriage House is a treasure.
Very picturesque and peaceful.
No cell phone reception (not a negative IF you are expecting it )
I liked the food, the collection of carriages and the general area of the B & B. The people staying at the Carriage Vineyards were very pleasant.
The beds gave us difficulty (one too hard for the back and the other too small for an adult). We were not able to stay the next night as a result of the difficulty we had sleeping.
Larry was the perfect host, communicating via email prior to our arrival. The Victoria Suite was delightful, clean, comfortable and full of character. The Coachman studio was also very attractive, with the most amazing views out over the vineyard. The breakfasts were wonderful - well cooked and beautifully presented. We took the opportunity of a carriage ride around the vineyard and I am so glad we did as Larry was a mine of information about the vines, olive trees and wildlife.
That we couldn't stay longer!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Carriage Vineyard B & B. The setting is very tranquil. It's a lovely place to soak up the peace and quiet. It's a pleasant drive out to the property through graceful rolling hills with lots of vineyards. There is an abundance of wine tasting available in every direction. Nearby Paso Robles has a wonderful assortment of unique eateries to try.
Fantastic breakfast. Secluded location.
Great house, great room
No in room TV. Could not work the general downstairs TV. Never saw the Inn Keeper.
Our expectation was far great than what we taught, I will surely recommend this place
Comfort of living room and TV. Great breakfast. Very friendly and accommodating host. Great bed.
Somewhat remote location off the cell phone grid but for some that might be a good thing!
Larry is the perfect host!
