Noisy, old rattling windows, worn stairwell carpet, in bad need of a paint job, no ice machine.
Location was good for Bay to Breakers run, coffee machine was good.

It's a very simple hotel: good place to stay if you want to be in the center of the city and only plan to be in the hotel for sleeping. It can be noisy because you hear everything from the corridors and open windows. No special decoration of the rooms, just white walls, cupboards and TV. No breakfast but free coffee and tea! One of the days I was staying there the toilets didn't flush, and especially as you are sharing them with the whole floor, this was not such a nice experience.
The location was excellent and the staff helpful.

Great value for San Francisco! I would even say Best value in San Francisco if you don't mind a shared bathroom.
May 13, 2015
Though you need to share restrooms & showers, this is very nice hotel

You could hear all conversations on the inner rooms and after 10 o'clock it was terrible couldn't sleep till after 2 o'clock the bar crowd was done at 4 AM . Need to enforce a quiet time after 10 PM or have some way to have management contact the rooms !

For an even better experience, I would add: - Better soundproofing . The windows facing the street can be quite noisy. If possible I would get thicker ones. - Add washing machines available for customers and you would make my day. You also could also provide other basic things such as a toothbrush. - the corridor carpet is a little dirty. - the wifi connection is not great
This place was exceptionally comfortable. I wasn't expecting something this good for the price we paid. Excellent value for money.

nosie is inconvenience in rooms located by the street side. That is a real chalange to find a parking place on blocks next to the inn.
An access to the Wi-Fi was easy and it works quick. Bed comfortable.

No parking, no breakfast, rooms closet-sized, musty or even smelly, no heat or air con, zero ventilation except if you open the windows, no sinks or soap in shared tiny toilets so you cannot wash your hands until you get back to your room which is disgusting and unhygienic, switched me to another room and floor while I was out without informing me, and massively overpriced at 150$ to 130$ excuse me? Without even breakfast or fresh clean rooms? I realize location is good but it is scummy to take advantage to house people in conditions that would be questionable for animals.

Shared baths, stained carpeting, musty smell, noisy.
Easy location for visiting city. Friendly, helpful manager.

There was a strong smell in the ground floor and also some coming from the carpets. It was kind of cold, and I think beacause of the smell, all the windows were open in the corridors for ventilation.
The toilet was super clean. So were the bed sheets, towels and robes.

Our room had ants

The staff were very friendly and helpful. When I arrived, the shower water temperature was stuck on "luke warm." A quick stop down to the front desk had it repaired in a few minutes. The location is great and the hotel is reasonably priced.

Very noisy (you can hear everything from other rooms). At the edge of shady street.
Value for money.Room clean.

Shared bathroom but we knew it No elevator
Perfect location near Haight Ashbury and the painted ladies Relatively easy to park with the car and free The price is good for the rooms

The (shared) showers on the first floor really need some attention and updating. Both showers weren't working properly and there was mould on the ceilings. My biggest issue with Casa Loma was that the restrooms do not have wash basins for people to wash their hands so you have to go back to your rooms before you can do so - surely a hand sanitizer can be mounted on the wall?! It feels very unhygienic! Rooms that face the indoor courtyard get very warm and stuffy, opening the window does not help as no fresh air gets in. Also, my room was noisy and I could hear a tv from a room across the courtyard clearly.
Spacious room and friendly/helpful staff. Never had to wait to use the shared showers or restrooms. Nice location with bus stops right outside.
April 22, 2015
No parking lot, no bathroom inside the room, place smelled like a gas station toilet, uncomfortable beds, etc...
April 21, 2015
Smelly rooms, toilets in worst condition, insects in my room
April 19, 2015
I stayed here in March 2014 for 4 nights. The hotel was in a good location, nice restaurants and cafes near by. The hotel itself was clean, room a little 'scuffed' around the ages could've done with a little TLC although a very comfortable nights sleep. The noise of the road is quite loud in the mornings in the room we stayed in and the stairs are laborious especially with heavy suitcases! Breakfast although stated as free was never actually an option. We were up at different times each day but nothing was ever available only a coffee machine downstairs. Wifi was pretty reliable. All in all though we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I'd certainly stay there again, the only 'problems' were superficial and didn't affect our stay particularly

Nearly everything else! Cleanliness was poor, we were travelling as a group of four and both rooms were the same. Weird smell, damp patches and our bed was broken so not the most comfortable. Hardly any parking outside, Walls were paper thin and staff weren't overly friendly or helpful (apart from cleaning staff they were lovely!) also the shared showers were a bit grim, someone previously showering left blood drenched dressing and a hospital tag bracelet in there which was disgusting! We are all used to staying in budget accommodation but this way too much money for poor conditions.San Fran is an amazing city and will come back but definately wouldn't return to this hotel
Good and safe Location, and free coffee were the highlights
April 15, 2015
NO elevator, so if with a big luggage, take lower floor rooms!
tasty coffee in the looby location nice staff
April 13, 2015
Not for somebody who prefers their own bathroom/is a light sleeper. Reduce noise by asking for a room that doesn't face the street and get some complimentary ear plugs.
It was easy to find, in a safe location and it was a very cheap deal. Staff were cordial and coffee/tea machine was exactly what I needed early in the morning.
April 11, 2015
the people at the front desk a little bit rude and no much friendliness
i love location and quietness. great for its price
April 10, 2015
