This secluded 5-star resort in Hakalau, Hawaii is across the street from Uma Uma Falls. It offers guest bungalows with private decks where guests can watch whales and dolphins from the sea.
Score from 30 reviews Very good
Originally plantation worker housing built in 1909, the property was converted into an inn in the 1930s. In downtown Hilo, this hotel features free parking and free Wi-Fi in public areas.

The room definitely! Very clean, new furniture, a huge bathroom, and very comfortable. The staff was nice.
The room was really noisy: thin windows, so we heard everyone chatting outside and all the birds singing the whole night long! The hotel itself is really old fashioned.
Was hard to know that you were in the right place, no name on the hotel that I could see from the outside
The sight outside the window is AMAZING! Love it! Seafood Buffet is very good, with giant crab legs. Bar is cool with small concert.
No free wifi in room ($10 per day) and I have to stay in lobby.
Concierge was very helpful
No free internet, place not that clean, but still probably best Hilo had to offer.
Free parking. Free Wi-Fi in lobby.
good location, good swimming pool. Perfect view.
not very well managed
Pretty sure this is the best hotel choice in Hilo.
Could use some updating. If you are looking for a resort look in Kona. But really there was nothing that bothered me much at this hotel.
Lovely views over Hilo Bay. Comfortable bed. Staff very helpful and polite. Convenient for airport. Food in the restaurant was wonderful.
Hilo town itself is quaint, but a bit run down.
Location, free parking
No hairdryer, pool was very small with only a few sun lounges
Lovely view, staff very friendly and helpful, bar and restaurant very good. Convenient for airport and thus helicopter tours.
Not much to do in the town, which was a bit run down and tired.
Roomy, with new furniture and bath room Free, unlimited parking Good location
Old facilities outside of the room Lack of appealing eatery
Access to waterfront and coconut island
Tired decor; average food; no free wifi
Really old bed A tad run down
Although I asked front desk over the phone and in person to bring hair dryer, no one showed up and thay easily broke our promise. We will no longer use the hotel in Hilo.
close to Hilo and volcano park
Comfortable beds good food
We should have been informed when we checked in that we need to make reservations if you want to eat the buffet
We had a group of 15 including 2 kids under 3. Our rooms were clean and spacious for us to move around. The suite was perfect for our Ohana to gather and enjoy our time together and having the little kitchenette area so convenient when traveling with a large group. The hotel staff was great, front desk clerks so polite and professional, our room maid always greeting with aloha or good morning so nice.
The sound of coqui frogs and the birds that covered our rental car with poop!, but we managed to find a car wash, never parked under that tree again. Other than that our trip was great.
The hotel was clean and spacious. The staff was friendly and helpful. The views from our 6th floor balcony facing the bay were wonderful. The proximity to the Volcano National Park was great. Hilo is a quaint town with some great restaurants.
The lack of beaches was a bit disappointing for our 17-year-old, but she loved other near-by activities like zip-lining.
The room was recently renovated and good. The views are good.
No room service. No tea and coffee making facilities in room. No light in toilet. Bar understaffed. No wine can be taken to your room unless you take plastic cups. I was ignored by the waitress after asking to take a glass of wine to my room 3 times. Even when saying ok to the plastic! Bar was messy. Capuccino's were horrible.
Noisy and WiFi very expensive
Location with beautiful view of the island and ocean Large very well equipt room A very good hotel
We were on the 5th floor near the elevator which was quite noisy Because it.s a large hotel it was used a lot during the night Recommend people ask for a room further away
Wish the pool was more inviting.
