Accommodations were clean and comfortable. The owners and staff were a pleasure to deal with.
No complaints. Great experience!!
The Turret Tower was a beautiful room, very spacious and welcoming. The 3 rounded windows gave a nice view. The food is excellent and the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home.
The house and property were gorgeous and the room was lovely and comfortable. It felt like staying in a home rather than an Inn. The young woman who checked us in was incredibly helpful.
In the morning, a menu for buying breakfast was posted in the entry to the dining room, but we were told that breakfast was not being served. It was confusing and disappointing. The offerings for continental were poor.
A nice facility, easy to find & an ideal stop for our overnight on the way back to Boston It was a shame the restaurant was closed
the building was lovely and the room and bed quite comfortable: the location worked out for getting to where we wanted to go; some of the staff was quite helpful
but... we travel with a senior and the 2 flights to the third floor was a bit hard; also for the price the breakfast was not very special; finally the water view was very limited
The room was pretty
In a residential suburb. Lady who greeted us was very short, like she was doing us a favour, she didn't even offer to help with the bags up the stairs, or show us the room, unheard of in a b&b. Only information she had was about their restaurant's "ladies night". As we went out for the afternoon and evening we mentioned it was freezing in the room and could that be dealt with. We returned about 10.30 to find no one about and the room even colder than earlier with no way of changing the heat as is central. We were frozen all night. To her credit the owner in the morning did refund us 10% but we would still never stay here again!
People were helpful and appreciative! Rate was reasonable and food was very good/excellent. We enjoyed our overnight!
Bathtub/shower curtain was funky and allowed water to escape onto floor!
Lack of hot water at night. Told it was due to system capacity, wedding?? Also loud due to wedding.
I loved the look of the place. It was a beautiful old house that has been turned into a hotel. The size of the suite was ample.
The room was clean at first glance, but upon closer inspection there was dust crusted in the corners of the furnishing and on the bed frame. The mattress felt as old as the house, neither I or my boyfriend slept well on it. The Restaurant was over priced for over flavored food. We were not impressed.
The house was beautiful!
The second night, whoever made our bed didn't position the bottom sheet so that our whole mattress was covered. Right where our feet hit we could feel part sheet and part mattress. Not good!
The Manor was a soothing comfortable Inn for us. We enjoyed the night we stayed and as luck would have it we were there for Ladies Night and live entertainment. The food was great, the music was wonderful. Breakfast outside on the front porch was so nice.
The air conditioner was not strong enough for the room we stayed in. I paid a little more than I expected because the advertisement had a lower rate, but not sure if the room was changed so we paid more.
Food, room, location, service and price, very reasonable.
Wifi weak. Couldn't use all facilities because of private parties. And no elevator to third floor for all us weak knee people.
Views and setting
Lots of stairs to climb. This would be a negative for many people. The breakfast was inconsistent, the food at dinner was good the wait staff was very slow and very in attentive
Comfortable room. Breakfast was Continental plus.
Climbing multiple levels of stairs. Single sink with no counter for toiletries.
The view and and the hospitality
The unbearable temperature of the room
The inn was quaint and clean.
When we arrived I was told that I had booked two rooms. I had only booked one, so I am not sure if the issue was with the inn or booking.com. The staff member took care of it but had to refund the money for one of the rooms. We went to the outdoor bar to have a drink but were only allowed to stay for two drinks since they were having an outdoor wedding rehearsal dinner. We were rushed to finish our second drink. The air conditioner in our room did not work. I alerted the staff, they looked at it, made a couple of adjustments and said they would check on it later since we were headed out for the evening. When we returned the unit still wasn't working. The room was unbearably hot and uncomfortable to sleep in. I let the staff member know the next morning, she said I see the note and then apologized. I expressed our displeasure so she offered us a free breakfast or gift certificate to the inn restaurant. I do not think that makes up for an awful night of sleep considering the price we paid for the room. Our final complaint is the day we checked in we were told there was a free continental breakfast. When we asked about it the next morning the staff member said that there was no breakfast and the staff member that was working the previous day had told all that guests there would be that but she was wrong. I would not recommend this inn to others.
nice large room, very friendly staff.
good location and facilities front porch for sitting owners were great - staff was less consistent
very surprised breakfast was not included with room - breakfast was only OK and not good value twin beds pushed together to be one bed not comfortable to sleep
The turret room with the 3 windows. Great air flow. East drive to the harbor loop and walk way.
Close to where my son lives.
I thought I was going to be in the main house. Room was OK but bath fixtures old and heating difficult to operate. would have been nice to have a coffee pot in room. Housekeeping could have been better. Did have TV in room.
Very nice renovation of on old Victorian home. Comfortable bar area with excellent food. I am looking forward to staying there again.
The room was way too warm for our liking.
Castle Manor Inn is one if the most wonderful places I have ever stayed... The staff treated the guests like a family. The owners Don & Laura are such wonderful people. The Inn is the nicest we have stayed in, so clean with every amenity you could need. The restaurant right in the Inn is awesome. The food from great breakfast to wonderful dinners were outstanding!! I would recommend The Castle Manor Inn to anyone traveling in the Gloucester/ Beverly/Salem MA area!!! We had a medical emergency while our stay and the owners were so wonderful like we were family!! They opened the Inn for my son and I to stay there for days while my husband was hospialized in a near by town at NO charge!!! This was during their off season..Thank You Laura & Don for all your caring generosity during our stay!!!!
