I loved the look of the place. It was a beautiful old house that has been turned into a hotel. The size of the suite was ample.

The room was clean at first glance, but upon closer inspection there was dust crusted in the corners of the furnishing and on the bed frame. The mattress felt as old as the house, neither I or my boyfriend slept well on it. The Restaurant was over priced for over flavored food. We were not impressed.

    The house was beautiful!

The second night, whoever made our bed didn't position the bottom sheet so that our whole mattress was covered. Right where our feet hit we could feel part sheet and part mattress. Not good!

The Manor was a soothing comfortable Inn for us. We enjoyed the night we stayed and as luck would have it we were there for Ladies Night and live entertainment. The food was great, the music was wonderful. Breakfast outside on the front porch was so nice.

The air conditioner was not strong enough for the room we stayed in. I paid a little more than I expected because the advertisement had a lower rate, but not sure if the room was changed so we paid more.

Food, room, location, service and price, very reasonable.

Wifi weak. Couldn't use all facilities because of private parties. And no elevator to third floor for all us weak knee people.

    Views and setting

Lots of stairs to climb. This would be a negative for many people. The breakfast was inconsistent, the food at dinner was good the wait staff was very slow and very in attentive

The inn was quaint and clean.

When we arrived I was told that I had booked two rooms. I had only booked one, so I am not sure if the issue was with the inn or booking.com. The staff member took care of it but had to refund the money for one of the rooms. We went to the outdoor bar to have a drink but were only allowed to stay for two drinks since they were having an outdoor wedding rehearsal dinner. We were rushed to finish our second drink. The air conditioner in our room did not work. I alerted the staff, they looked at it, made a couple of adjustments and said they would check on it later since we were headed out for the evening. When we returned the unit still wasn't working. The room was unbearably hot and uncomfortable to sleep in. I let the staff member know the next morning, she said I see the note and then apologized. I expressed our displeasure so she offered us a free breakfast or gift certificate to the inn restaurant. I do not think that makes up for an awful night of sleep considering the price we paid for the room. Our final complaint is the day we checked in we were told there was a free continental breakfast. When we asked about it the next morning the staff member said that there was no breakfast and the staff member that was working the previous day had told all that guests there would be that but she was wrong. I would not recommend this inn to others.

Close to where my son lives.

I thought I was going to be in the main house. Room was OK but bath fixtures old and heating difficult to operate. would have been nice to have a coffee pot in room. Housekeeping could have been better. Did have TV in room.

The room was way too warm for our liking.

Castle Manor Inn is one if the most wonderful places I have ever stayed... The staff treated the guests like a family. The owners Don & Laura are such wonderful people. The Inn is the nicest we have stayed in, so clean with every amenity you could need. The restaurant right in the Inn is awesome. The food from great breakfast to wonderful dinners were outstanding!! I would recommend The Castle Manor Inn to anyone traveling in the Gloucester/ Beverly/Salem MA area!!! We had a medical emergency while our stay and the owners were so wonderful like we were family!! They opened the Inn for my son and I to stay there for days while my husband was hospialized in a near by town at NO charge!!! This was during their off season..Thank You Laura & Don for all your caring generosity during our stay!!!!

I reserved a room with two double beds for my sister and her friend, and the receipt said so. However, there was only one bed in their room and I was very disappointed about that.

Nice well kept old Victorian Building, decent location.

The bed in our room was like sleeping on a piece of concrete. It was horrible,my back is still killing me.Break down and buy some new mattresses. We will never stay there again. Also they jacked up the rates when we showed up telling me the room I wanted was not available,we had to pay 50,.00 more because they said booking .com did not send them our reservation yet? Now I have to see if I get double billed.I Was and am really upset with booking .com and with the worst gad damm bed.

Excellent friendly staff. The house was a delight with its own small bar and excellent food served in the onsite restaurant. The outside rooms were well proportioned and in good order with the upper rooms having private balconies. Would stay there again if in the area

Our only fault was in the outside rooms there were no coffee making facilities

The staff was most helpful. We wanted a room in the inn and were accomodated without an increase in our rate. The on-site restaurant is also an excellent place to dine.

Let us check in early by offering another room for same price! Very friendly staff. We called from our room to inquire about the hours of the restaurant in order to plan out our evening and later on received a call to tell us they may close on the early side and wanted to let us know! Food was good and had a nice selection on the menu. Room was very very pretty! Location was easy to get to and not far from the waterfront.

Bed was a little too firm and really not all that comfy. Bathroom was clean but really no space to place anything down. No room service though...that would be frosting on the cake! But those things would not keep us from returning.

This is a charming place with beautiful, comfortable rooms, I stayed in the main house on the top floor. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, sorted out my whale watching trip for me and truly wanted my stay there to be as enjoyable as possible. And I was. Thank you!

Service in the restaurant was a little slow for my first 2 meals but the food was very good! Couldn't add the food bill to my room charges, but both are very minor comments.

We stayed in the detached part of the inn--it was clean, and the staff was helpful. It was the least expensive of practically all other lodging in Gloucester. Good if you're on a budget.

The bathroom definitely needed upgrading--the bathroom floor had a big dent in it and the tub was made of plastic. When you book the room, you think you're staying in the castle inn, but our room turned out to be in the hotel section of the facility. The pictures don't show the hotel section.

The location and toiletries were very good.

There was no internet service available in my room and I had to go up to the main house to do some business. They should have told me that not all the buildings on the property had internet when I made the reservation.

Beautiful buildings and surroundings and views but best surprise was the best dinning experience (duck confit stuffed mushrooms & salad w/beet arugula & fennel w/vinaigrette - amazingly delicious.

Detached rooms could use a bit of upgrading.
