Free bar for one hour (dunno why they call it happy hour, it should be called Awesome hour!)
No view from room
The proximity to the beach is good, free beach chairs and towels was awesome. But that's about it.
Our pillows smelled like dead mice so we tried not to turn our faces near them. The TV would work sometimes and other times you could only hear it. When the air did work, the shut off and on sound was so loud it woke you up all night long. The walls were paper thin and we could hear everyone above us and around us including constant music from the bar. Over all it was pretty terrible. We tried to stay at the beach as long as possible and spend no time in the room.
It's a safe place to stay, clean and close to all attractions and service is prompt and organized.
Couldn't get a hold of billing dept to resolve incorrect charges. They kept transferring me to a phone number where nobody answered and I couldn't leave a message

Swimming was dirty
We have stayed on south beach numerous times, staying in usually high end overpriced places thinking it would be a better experience. This place all around fantastic. Food was superb, staff was amazing. I can not begin to express how, helpful, friendly & funny the front desk staff, actually all staff that i encountered was. Scale 1-10 i give them a 15!! We will 100% be staing there again !
The room was not at all as advertised online. The bad was on the floor and ceiling caving in. Almost falling off. Smelled so bad and door and bathroom so small the laugage would not fit through the door. Super noisy and the carpets outside smelled like moist. Room all banged up and sketchy. More like a 1 star hotel. Horrible experience.
location beach club
the restaurants in the entrance of the hotel. you have to pass through crowd of people eating or drinking in the bar to go to your room.
At the end they charge me unexpected amount of money. I thought everything was included under my reservation. About $300 more.
the picture on booking was not the room that they put us in. the room had roaches and smelled very wet. the service was the worst and they would not refund any money
Most of the staff was very helpful. Bath and TV just ok Slightly inconvenient access to rooms because you have to go through a dining area. Very convenient to Lincoln Road.
Location and the pool area on the rooftop made it a nice last minute find for the price. Decor was different, but my wife thought it was a fun place to stay.
AC was loud and the tv in our room was probably as old as I was and only had a few channels that worked. Construction was going on right next door and woke up to jackhammers busting up a sidewalk and workers walking between the buildings outside the windows.
The hotel is in a great location, surrounded by shops and restaurants, and the beach is only a short walk away. The hotel bell hop, Eddie, will help you with anything you need!
The hotel decor is kind of odd, and if your room faces the street, you can hear noise all night long. We never saw the hotel shuttle during our stay, it was always "running a little late"-our family is pretty sure that it doesn't exist. Besides Eddie, the hotel staff was just so-so.
Horrible experience...called front desk for towels 3 times...and got it 4 hours later....
Thin doors, party noices, music, vacuum cleeaners etc will all be IN your room. same with noices from floor above. Obvious water damages to floors, and very poor cleaning of things like lamps and mouldnings. If I could go through all the rooms and check, I'm sure I could find some where I could stay, but not in the Maxine part of the building.
Location is good. The restaurant maxine serves good food. Free beachchairs. Free airport shuttle
We made a booking for a deluxe double room 4 nights but when we arrived we got the double room: I needed to tell them this and then they changed (I stayed here before so I knew the room size). The deluxe room was big but had a damp smell. We got looked out from our room for 30 min middle of the night, needed to go down and ask 3 times before we got in. I got charged double for one of the nights, that was not registered in the system so I needed to argue my point with the desk staff. We noticed our used towels was refolded. We needed to change room our last night because or room was booked for another couple. This we didnt mind because we got an upgrade to a very nice suite. We got compensated for all the hassle, the hotel managers handle it well. But I think some of the general staff was unprofessional. This hotel is overpriced for my taste.
The entire staff that worked from January 18th to the 21st were the best I've experienced and I travel often.
I had to leave and I couldn't take the staff with me
I love the location of Catalina. It's in the heart of South beach where all the action is. It's on block from the beach, Lincoln mall, and a $6 cab ride to all the nice clubs on washington ave.
Drinks and food at bars and resturant at the catalina are over priced. $15 for a daiquiri is ridiculous, especially when it's more ice in it than anything else. Also couldn't lock my door to room to keep staff from coming in Cleaning and mini bar restocker while I was occupying the room.
Leaving!! Aweful experience.
The staff, the rooms, the attitude of the staff. Unorganized. Do not stay here!!! The smell. Pitiful experience. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone!! They didn't even clean the rooms!! Just aweful.
Bed was comfortable, despite damp sheets and pillows.
Felt very unsafe. Hotel resides over a nightclub, with nothing stopping random clubgoers from walking the hotel halls. No door bolt locks. No door chains as additional protetection. No peephole to see who is at the front door. Sheets and Pillows were damp. Room was squeezed into a tiny space.
Location, happy hour, concierge knowledge
Wifi was free but cut out some times in the room.... Bathrooms slightly small
Everything apart from the in-room air conditioning
Air conditioning / fan blew all night which was noisy and was the only downside
