The staff was very friendly and acommidating from greeting us each morning to calling us a taxi. Really enjoyed it
We were upgraded to a junior suite. comfortable, spacious and on the first floor. Breakfast was included and delivered to the room each morning.
Pool was not clean
Room had no window. Smelt musty. Requested breakfast items not available.
Loved the location and the atmosphere. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Plumbing in the shower was a slow drain. Not a big deal though.
Has all the charme one expects when staying in the french quarter. Very coveniently located to the french market, the square and frenchmen street the suggested location for the jazz restaurants and bars of these days. Wished the pool bar would open again for the first and last drink of the night.
Very close to Bourbon Street
Breakfast pretty average. Never had everything ordered
The location was good for the French Quarter and the valet parking was well priced.
The room was far too small for 3 overseas guests with luggage. There were two double beds in the room and hardly any space to stand up. The bathroom was tiny with only a shower, no bath. Workmen were grinding paint & rust of building. Intended to stay for a week but left after one night.
Bed was comfortable. Good location.
Telephone did not work for our entire stay. Lamp burned out. Wall outlet cracked. Hard wood floor was filthy' I wont be back.
The hotel was fantastic!! We had our own private patio and the room was charming and quaint. The pool was great to cool off in after a day of walking. The staff was wonderful and attentive, with valet parking and breakfast served daily to your room. I would definitely visit the Chateau Hotel again!!
No views at all, I suggest you request one of their smaller rooms on the ground level
refreshing change from the chain hotels
had to leave
Bring your breakfast to you in the morning. Staff was kind.
Toilet didn't work well. People outside our door smoking and partying after we had gone to bed.
The location is superb. 5 minutes to Bourbon St. (Walking ) 10 minutes to Frenchman St. 2 minutes to the trolley.
Our room was nice, but it was located next to the staff food prep room. They arrive and begin preparing food at 07:00 they don't do it quietly.
Liked the location.
Rude staff member at the front desk. Rooms needed to be dusted.
Location to see St. Louis Cathedral, the Mississippi River, and Bourbon Street. Hotel included breakfast delivered to your door. Great sheets, clean room, quiet!
It's all good
Location was good, free continental style breakfast. Free newspaper although one morning, instead of being left at our door, it was placed on a table outside the door and was soaked by rain.
AC was either on or off, no in between. The room has somewhat of a musty, mildew smell. The toilet flush didn't work right, and the shower drain was very slow, had to shower in standing water. Price was based on location, I'm sure, but it wasn't worth the price.
Close to Jackson Square
The hotel is literally in the perfect location to explore every part of the quarter. The best. If you're looking for old French Quater style and class you've found it!
The one negative I could relate is the fact that the air conditioning is connected centrally to one system and there is just and on/off switch in the actual room. We stayed during a very warm time in New Orleans and it did get uncomfortably hot in the room several times! The floor in the shower was tiled incorrectly as well. The drain being higher than the floor. It never drained over a 6 day period. You were always stepping in cold dirty water. Rm 112.
Location so we could walk everywhere.
Very noisy and not soundproof at all. Could hear every conversation at the front desk and every drunk on the street. Found dead bugs and it did have an old smell. Parking is horrible
The Chateau Hotel is a charming little place, in a great location close to all the sights and sounds of the French Quarter and Frenchman Street. Like all Quarter properties, the building is old, so don't expect a new, flashy ultra-hotel that would suit 20-something girls who feel the need to carry dogs in their purses. But the property is FULL of charm. First, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The are quick to help with whatever you need. Secondly, the rooms (while small), are perfect and kept very clean. Keep in mind the humidity, smells of the Quarter and the age of the building itself will seep its way into your stay, but for a FQ hotel, it is kept in excellent shape. Third, the pool is amazing and a much-needed amenity after a day of traipsing through the city in the heat and stickiness. The staff keeps the pool very clean and the courtyard and pool area is a lovely place to have a drink, get some sun, smoke a cigar or cigarette and just relax. Everyone else we met during our 7-day stay there also loved the quaintness and cleanliness of this little gem of a property. I should also mention it is located in a quieter spot in the French Quarter, so no issues with loud noise or nuisances at night. And the price for this wonderful stay is among the very best you'd find anywhere in the French Quarter, or all of New Orleans for that matter. For a budget-conscious traveler who wants an Excellent hotel experience, I would recommend the Chateau Hotel again and again and again. LOVED our stay.
There is very little not to like about the Chateau Hotel. It was one of my favorite experiences. However, two small knocks would be: 1) we realized after we arrived that the pool bar they advertise was not a manned bar, but rather just a cabana you can sit and have your own drinks; and 2) More of mental note, there is no "convenience store" super close by to buy drinks, supplies, etc., so you will have to walk a few blocks. But these are VERY small knocks. I recommend this place any day of the week.
Seems as if management, or maybe ownership, has changed since my 2012 visit. Desk clerks, wait staff are not as professional. The breakfast rolls use to be fine pastries. This time - nearly Little Debbie Snack Cakes. Luckily we found Croissent d'Or one block away. Since I paid extra for my Bookings.com continental breakfast, I guess I paid twice by paying for my pastries at Croissent d"Or. The wait staff was sullen and rude.
Location, size of room
No facilities. Breakfast options very limited and not good, and it's only served in your room. No kettle.
The Location is superb. Right in the heart of the French Quarter but in a quite area far from the caos. Friendly and helpful staff Free wifi
Breakfast delivered in the room (great) might have a wider choice of food.
Excellent location, rooms are romantic and cozy. The staff were warm and friendly.
