The staff was very friendly.
Main elevator was broken and had to use service elevator which was far away. Hotel was out of date.
Very much in need of maintenance. Nothing was open and the staff was not very knowledgeable.
The place is going through an overhall which will update some of the features (100 years old), so I'd like to see it after it's done! Kinda neat place if your into trains. Best area bars are in a 2 block area, so you can walk.
Dated carpets that were very dank smelling in the common areas. A lot of this will be resolved once the rennovation is completed. Not going to complain as the place is 100.
the history and the railroad connection
The room and the hotel, in general, were rather tired.
The gardens are kept beautifully. The shops & restaurants there are great. The staff was great
We were in "Hotel 3"and the hall smelled like urine. Had to use the service elevator - not convenient. We were in a non smoking room but still a strong smoke smell. There was a dog in a room down the hall that barked. The rooms were adjoining so the people in the next room were really loud. Disappointed. Didn't expect updated but Expected "vintage" instead got "tired looking", in need of some upkeep.
We liked the size of the room and the proximity of the property to the electric shuttle.
We stayed in building 3. The elevator was out of service and the property was very outdated and shabby. There was a pool light that was floating in the water and was not repaired during our stay. This place needs an overhaul. Overpriced.
the smell of sewage outside the hotel. quality and price of the food at the restraunt. mold in the showers.beds were not comfortable. needs updating
We stayed in one of the rail cars and it was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Although pricey, it is wonderful for a special occasion. The front desk manager (Beth) was very polite and helped us resolve some issues with the room. The Station House Restaurant is a MUST!! Spent both evenings dining there (cancelled our dinner reservation elsewhere) and enjoyed the music and food. The staff was great. It is a crime they are closing it for good after the first of the year. Shame on the new owners!!!!!
The shower curtain was mildewed and had to be changed. The hair dryer did not work and had to be changed. The waitress in the Victorian Lounge was eating pizza with the musician rather than waiting on us. We had to get up and ask her to fix us a drink. The TV stopped working and the cable had to be replaced.
Hours of pool, need to keep open longer
I liked the location as it was close to everything to do. I also liked the staff. The were very friendly and courtious.
I didn't like that when I arrived they had no record of my reservation. I also did not like that they put me in a handicapped room even though there other rooms available. Handicapped equipped rooms should be used for those who need them only
the entrance hall looked so grand and the check in was great. the breakfast in the morning was also very nice
the room we stayed in was in the older complex at the rear and was i would say to be fair was a little run down. The crome aroud the shower rail rusty, the windows slighty misty ( may be due to the pool location)and the corriders also smelt a little musty. Having stayed in many places the price was not good value taken into account the above and also the uniqueness either which I undertand might command a premium.
Our daughter loved seeing the Train right there where we were staying. Very peaceful and pretty place to just walk around. Liked the pizza place, especially inside of a train car.
Looking out our sliding door to see only a walkway into pool area and into the room across the way. Way too close
The character of the place and particularly the train carriage room for two of us.
The restaurant food was atrocious the worst we experienced in the whole of our holiday Our daughter stayed in the main hotel which was tired and in need of care and attention
The history of the place was nice. Great staff. Nice sized room. Overall decent stay.
The bathroom needs new paint (peeling off the walls) also mold in places. The cost of the food and treats was expensive. Two ice cream cones should not cost $11 in my mind. We had supper and it cost $17 for one plate of fish and a small chocolate milk. Be sure to bring your own food if you're hungry.
Outside grounds and garden. Restaurants at the hotel were good
Noise in the hallways outside our room until 3 AM!!!! Terrible!! Too many little kids making to much noise.
Rooms are dated. The rate shown at booking was less than the rate charged.
It was a great location as far as the event we attended. I doubt that I would have stayed there if it was not for the easy access to the event
this was a great place to stay and with the bus service next door was a plus to travel down town and come back when ready. We would stay again
the history of the hotel the size of the room lack of noise restaurant
convience of room access small elevator elevator not well marked or located hallway to access room accessed through pool area room decor showing age no room fridge ice machine not easily accessible
Availability of luggage carts. Small refrigerators and a microwave would be a plus. This is fairly common for a hotel of this size and price range.
the floors were uneven and shaky, toilet uneven.
Location, food, service. Free shuttle and bus service. Did not use my car once during our stay.
The entire place in need of upgrade, which will start Jan. 1st 2015. I would wait until they finish with all the construction and all the changes.
Room was nice. The boys enjoyed the trolley ride and the model train museum.
Wi-Fi did not work well in the room. A continental breakfast would have goo for the young kids, they wake up hungry.
Excellent free bus transportation to city centre. Really enjoyed staying in the railcar accommodation which was very clean and comfortable. Although we had problems on arrival with some lights and the tv not working, once i had reported it, maintenance was there very quickly and the issues were fixed.
One lightbulb was not working and a screw was missing in the door hook in the bathroom on arrival. Although i told maintenance and it was fixed, this sort of thing should be checked when the room is cleaned and fixed before the guest arrives. Some window blinds could not be opened and were quite dusty.
The setting of the hotel in Terminal Station was grand. Station House restaurant was spectacular. The staff were always friendly, courteous and helpful.
The rooms were clean but mediocre, granted we stayed in building 3, which looked to be the oldest. The pool was not kept very clean.
