Chelsea Inn46 West 17th Street, Chelsea, NY 10011 New York (Show map) Good, Score from 227 reviews“I recently stayed at Chelsea Inn with my young daughter for 5 nights and it was a wonderful experience. The staff were very helpful and friendly, our room was spacious and comfortable, the hotel was clean and great location. The shared-bathroom situation worked out quite well. Staying here helped make our nyc experience great. ”

We found a cockroach the first night, and a mouse ran behind our closet the second day. Our last night we were woken up at 230am to a horrible noise in the bathroom. It was raining quite hard outside and we discovered that our toilet, sink and shower drains were spurting up a substance of a disgusting smell and color. We were worried it would overflow into our room and moved all of our luggage onto furniture. It still didn't give us the peace of mind to go back to sleep though because we worried we would have to evacuate at any given moment. The staff made some excuse about it being a regular occurrence. We will never return to this hotel and I will let people, including tripadvisor know how awful it actually is. It was nearly $200CAD/night and definitely not worth it.

For a 23 euro hostel its okay. However I payed more than 600 dollars for 4 days. Not dirty, but I can not call this clean.

It was clean and quiet and in a good location for a reasonable price. I might have preferred not to walk up five flights of stairs.

The location, close to several subway lines, shopping streets, museums, and walkable distance to Soho, High Line and West Village. We got vouchers for a take-out breakfast next door, which was a great solution for those on a smaller budget. The rooms could use some renovation - the carpet looks dirty, the doors have locks where one wonders whether you can't just push them open. You have to share the bathroom, but that's of course part of the deal. I never had to wait for it to be free, so it's not too bad.

Everything is fine with the hotel except the payment issue I had.I was charged for staying at the hotel, but also the same amount of money was blocked on my card. And this issue wasn't fixed.Though it can also be the problem on the side of my bank, I think that the part of responsibility also lies on the hotel's shoulders. As for the rest it's a really good place to stay while you're in NYC!

ENGLISH: This hotel has a great location to explore the city. The metro is really close and the neighborhood very nice with restaurants; bars, shops... and other places. The staff could help you with pleasure if you are looking for something in the city, they have maps... The breakfast is ok. It is really a good place to stay even if all is not perfect. It is a good deal most of all for people with a small budget. ENGLISH: However, the rooms whom are on the 17th street are really noisy and the air conditionner to. So it is not easy to sleep well but there are others rooms that are not on the 17th street. Furthermore, you can't open the window in the bedroom to air. And to finish, I was surprised that I had to leave 2$ at least per day as a TIP for the maid while you paid all taxes included etc!!

Quiet, cool (a/c!) place to stay. Great location, close to everything, has lots of character and is not like a typical hotel, very home-like qualities.

The location of the Chelsea Inn is excellent. It is close to Union Square Park, and hotel guests can take an easy stroll or relax among the trees in the middle of Manhattan. The Chelsea Inn hasn't been renovated in over 50 years. My bathroom was new and clean, but the walls, carpets, and furniture are all very worn.

Cozy little place to sleep and rest while exploring NYC. Clean and very comfortable with, wi-fi, fridge and plenty of toiletries for those of us who travel light. Price was great, room was quiet and shared bath was clean and shower worked well. Also other people who stayed there were quiet and polite. Great place to stay for clean comfort and if you are just stopping in to rest.

The people were nice, the hotel is quaint, funky and very clean, with great location near several universities. The internet did not work in my room, as promised. I would like to have gotten a discount or some recognition of this lack of a promised service.

The noise was so bad that I terminated my stay at the Chelsea. What other hotel in the World supplies guest with ear plugs in the room. I could not sleep due to the noise in the street and especially when a nearby club closed. Absolutely unacceptable. For christ's sake put in some double glazing at least.

It was a frightening experience. There was mold/mildew on the shower curtain. There was not a soap dispenser in the shared bathroom/toilette. The room was not decorated tastefully. There was a huge indentation in the middle of the bed. Rugs were filthy. A person woke me up in the morning banging on my window screaming on the fire escape. The door locking system was not of standard, there was not an agent on duty at night, it was noisy, the breakfast was substandard, I asked for a wakeup call and never got one, and I couldn't obtain cellular service in building.

Cozy hotel in the middle of action and warm, helpful staff throughout our stay. even the shared bathroom did not cause any inconvenience. Also we were able to store luggage for the day before our nighttime flight which gave us more time to explore the city. It was a challenge getting used to the noisy pipes at night.

The hotel was well located in Chelsea?Greenwich Village. It was very clean, staff was friendly, accomodations were clean, adequate, but spartan. The hotel was adequate but spartan. I knew this up front but it served the putpose and was clean and near the friends I was visiting at a price that was high but acceptable for nyc.

Excellent location, near Union Square and Broadway. Nice little hotel with friendly reception. Simple breakfast at next door place. Not very suitable for elderly guests or heavy suitcases, as there is no elevator and a wobbly staircase. Furniture is bit old and tattered.

“The Pod Hotel was wonderful! We were looking for a hotel that was conveniently located and well priced - didn't want to pay a high price for a place to sleep. We were looking for something well located, reasonably priced, clean, and safe. The Pod Hotel was all of those and very comfortable as well! Very comfy beds. The staff was gracious and friendly.
