- Location! Short walk to subway stations, Union Square and 5th Ave - Size of the room was big enough for the two of us, a suitcase and a surfbag. - Helpful staff that printed tickets for us. - Nice café next door
- It wasn't too clean, and the carpets kinda smelled a bit, but we're not to picky, so it was totally okey! - Wifi signal was bad in the room, but great in the hallway! - Sharing a bathroom was never a problem.
The shower facilities was good.
Only way up to 4th floor is via staircase. We had 3 big bags and hand luggage. Not advisable.
the location is good, a few minutes walk to 5th avenue and union square.
too much noise and mosquitos, can hardly sleep. I chose it because of the location and wifi and lower rate in Manhaton. However, you could hardly access to wifi.
Noise sewage problem
I was on the fifth floor with no elevator for about a week. I needed to have internet access for school and it was almost non existent most of the time nothing at all. Shared bathroom.
Shared bathroom no elevator office manned only from 9:00
bed air conditioner stairs
The inn was well placed and good value for money.
The bed was very uncomfortable. The mattress was new and clean but of poor quality so thre was almost no padding over the springs. I felt every one. I was also disturbed that there was no sign of fire exits in the part of the hotel my room was in, and no signage giving directions in case of fire.
The bath in shared bathroom would fill with water whenever the shower was used. It took around 10 minutes to drain after each use. Not handy when you share with 4 people and have somewhere to be
The place was quiet and felt like home, no disturbances by staff or other guests. Nice people generally encountered during our visit.
Didn't like the deposit for the iron (my friend didn't). Not a big deal though.
Friendly helpful staff and convenient location
No lift so not easy to get up and down with luggage
No elevators, poor service of cable and tv. I couldn't watch the soccer World Cup in my room.
The Chelsea Inn is the perfect place to stay on a budget while reaping the rewards of location in NYC. My boyfriend and I stayed for PRIDE this year and look forward to staying again. Room 105 is quiet and cozy. If you are looking for a place with pillow mints and room service stay somewhere else. We were just looking for a safe place to stay while enjoying the city and we plan to return!
Shared bathroom, run down building and style
Location is awesome!
I liked getting the exercise but climbing the stairs was tough on my husband.
No bathroom in room, no elevator, scary electrical box for ac unit, poor tv coverage, lack of support past 9, no ironing board, no in room coffee maker
The studio with bathroom and fridge was nice and big.
For the size of the room, there could easily have been a King Size bed, or at least a Queen. One of the lamps near the bed didn't work.
noisy - garbage pick up happened all through the night right across my window clogged drain in shared bathroom spring based bed, low comfort
The staff at the front desk were very helpful. The location is great. Chelsea is a nice, safe area of NYC.
I know that NYC is expensive but of all the places I stayed, this hotel was the least value for money. The shared toilets were often all locked and at one point I had to use the staff toilets in the basement. I was situated on the third floor and had great difficulty getting my luggage but and down from the room.
If you get a room on the frontside you probably won't sleep much; terrible noise actions at night and morning. Better spend your money on another hotel.
Price and location.
The location is good. And it's passable.
The rooms aren't that nice. The bathrooms not that clean. The wifi is weak. And the service mediocre. But that's presumably what you get for the price in Manhattan.
Great location. And friendly staff.
