1.Wonderfyl, friendly, helpful staff! 2.Quirky room layout making clever use of an old building. Themed rooms. 3.Location is excellent. Great neighbourhood. 4. Boutique-style hotel. 1.Lack of towel hanging in bathroom (203). 2.Lack of coffee making in other ooms we used (206? & 105). 3. Stairs!

This was the friendliest and most pleasant place I have stayed in NYC. Staff was delightful; the decor charming; and so many small touches made our stay a pleasure. The only downside is the lack of an elevator -- not a problem for us; but it could be for some.

Great atmosphere, very friendly and helpful owner Jay and staff and in excellent location. Wonderful breakfasts! Spotlessly clean. Some might have felt a lift would have been good but it didn't bother us at all.

The staff were uniformly excellent providing a personal touch and did everything they could to help. The proprietors provided very useful information on places to visit and eat in New York. The hotel is quirky with a unique personality which was great to see. The location is great. I have no complaints in any way.

Wonderful continental breakfast provided. The very knowlegable staff provides tips for activities and getting around the city. The friendliest place I have stayed. It has a home away from home feeling. Nothing.

The breakfast was great, and the staff were very friendly and always willing to help with directions or information. The building was very warm, but the staff was always willing to turn down the temperature in the room, but even this was a very minor problem and taken care of immediately

In this hotel, you feel like home. The staff is very attentive and extremely friendly. Our room overlooked the street but was very quiet. Bedding is perfect. The presence of a fridge in the room is very convenient. The breakfast is plentiful and can be taken until 11:30, which leaves plenty of time to feast. Throughout the day, food is available for guests (fruit, pastries, drinks, etc. ..). Two computers are available for guests at level 2 and the free wifi is available in all the rooms. Air conditioning is perfect. Suggestions are slipped every morning under the door of the room to organize your day. The area is really nice. The 14th street is very interesting : Walk or take the bus to Union Square at the corner of 14th Street and 4th Avenue, very interesting ! Metro and buses are at the foot of the hotel at the corner of 8th Avenue. One can easily go Downtown Manhattan (World Trade Center, Battery Park with view of the Statue of Liberty) or Uptown to Madison Square Garden, Times Square, Central Park...). In fact, it is close to places to see while being far enough away to enjoy the peace of Grenwich Village and Chelsea. There is no lift but the highest level is the 5th floor (equivalent at what we call 4th floor in France). You get used to it easily !

Good location near the metro station. Some staff friendly. Good breakfast. I hated literally the room. I booked in the cheapest room for 7 nights. It was located on 5th floor accesible only by stairs. All the days it smelled very bad to humidity and it was very difficult to breath even with the air conditioned turned on. Wifi free but impossible to catch the signal on my room, I had to open the door and stand there to have some signal. They have computers in the "business center" but internet is slow as 10 years ago. When the staff was doing the cleaning I saw some expensive rooms were better than mine so dont book on the cheapest!!!

Fantastic location, clean, well equipped rooms, very friendly, helpful staff, small garden area and an excellent breakfast included. A lovely, convenient area to use as a base to explore all New Yorks sights, very good restaurants and shops nearby, would highly recommend and book again in the future. Traffic noise on front facing rooms, small bathrooms.
