The staff was really friendly, the breakfast was great. I stayed for a week and the location is very good, very close to Chelsea market and nice restaurants. CSV on the corner.
Great location. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Super-clean. Comfy bed. Fun decor.
everything (Suite 302 very nice)
The location. The value. The staff. The comfort. The home like feel.
I've never had a hotel/B&B service like this one. The breakfasts spared no luxury. Each staff member was both approachable and personable. We didn't travel with a pet but we thought it was a great accomodation.
Comfortable bed, great placement of the hotel
The cleaning staff regularly moved my things, free water means you will get 2 free waters for the entire stay, room extremely small and very old for such price (you can find 2x sized room for 1/2 price), internet basically unusable,
The staff were charming, thoughtful and welcoming - beyond duty
The staff was welcoming and happy to help with any request - from holding our luggage before check-in when we arrived early, to holding it for us for a few hours after check-out! The breakfast featuring hard boiled eggs, meats, breads, cereals, yogurts and a variety of jams and fruits was just the thing before heading out into the city. The bedding and towels were comfy and plush. The standard deluxe room was large by NYC standards and had everything you could think of to make your stay a pleasure. Best of all - and this is a pet peeve of mine - it is the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in! We are a mature couple that have stayed in many hotels in NYC. Simply a lovely experience. We will be back.
The only negative was the walk up to our room on the 5th floor (but the room was perfectly quiet as we were at the top of the building). If you are not able bodied this is probably not the best choice for you.
Staff Location (near subway 14th street) Breakfast with coffee and thee during the whole day. Will come back!
Super friendly staff Free snacks in kitchen location
room could have been a little bigger
The comfort of the room and the small personal style of the hotel. The room, though very small, was both quite functional and comfortable. It worked well for a single traveller. The room was well soundproofed. I didn't hear a sound all night. The proximity to the subway made travel around town a breeze. The complimentary breakfast was a great bonus.
Walking the steps to get to my 4th floor room as there is no elevator. The room was small to the point of being difficult to navigate at times.
The staff is great, free breakfast which is very high quality.
The bathrooms are fairly small.
Breakfast, snacks, friendly staff, location near to trains, neighbourhood, cleanliness
Lovely location, right next to the subway and short walking distance to Chelsea Market. Lovely vintage and mom and pop's stores around the area, close to Greenwich. Very charming side of NYC. Also great and attentive staff with a cat to greet you every morning and evening. Hard to beat.
Stairs...you have to be prepared to climb up and down. While the staff will help you with your bags up and when you check out, it can be tiring after all day being out in the city. May not recommend for older patrons unless they can book the lower floor rooms.
Friendly, gracious staff, spacious and comfortable room, excellent continental breakfast! Also, the location is very convenient.
Nothing! Do not hesitate to stay at the Chelsea Pines Inn!
The staff is a delight. Very warm and welcoming, and extremely helpful in making your time in NY enjoyable.
Extraordinary service from reception receiving tips on tourist sightseeing, goospel etc.
The inn is very conveniently located and close to several metro lines. Staff couldn't be nicer. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was first class.
Rooms are small and can be very crowded if you have a lot of luggage.
Very welcoming atmosphere. Everyone is friendly, available and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable and well made up daily. Location is convenient and very close to the E/A/L subway lines for easy travel uptown, downtown and to/from JFK. Good continental breakfast spread with treats and coffee always available to snack on. Wi-Fi worked well along with a well equipped business centre.
Nothing of significance to complain about.
The staff are wonderful, the breakfast was amazing and they leave little cupcakes and things out in the kitchen during the day.
The hotel is more worn than you would expect from the photos. I expected it to be a bit more upmarket for the price and was a little disappointed when I walked in. It has been superficially done up and the building is quite old.
Everything about Chelsea Pines Inn was above average. All staff were polite, helpful, friendly and respectful. I will be recommending this establishment to everyone I meet.
There was nothing to complain about. If stretched to suggest what might be improved it would be softer pillows.
Loved the Chelsea Pines. Great, friendly, helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast. Quirky rooms with movie star motifs.
No elevator, so 4th floor room was a bit of a challenge for aging knees. However, it IS New York, where walk ups aren't unusual and staff is proactive in offering to help The only downside is no elevator, so 4th floor room was a bit of a challenge for aging knees. However, it IS New York, where walk ups aren't unusual and staff is proactive in offering to help with bags.
Rooms were nice and clean quirky and fun.
I stayed here in 2010 but have only just managed to write a review!! I loved everything about Chelsea Pines Inn. It was my 21st birthday and my first trip to NYC and they couldnt have made it any better. It was just myself and my mum, they put roses and a birthday card in my room, treated us like we were the only guests in the hotel, as they did every other guest. Recommended the most amazing restaurants around, and some nice local sites. I am counting the days until I can afford to visit again.
