The last time I stayed there I would not have recommended it to anyone. Now it appears to have been bought out and is being renovated. Moreover I was given an upgrade to a room that was quite nice, with an ensuite bathroom, which changed my opinion of the place. The location could hardly be better, one block away from Penn Station, with an unbeatable price for midtown Manhattan.
This hotel is on a corner and there is much traffic noise from the two adjacent streets, quite a bit even in the middle of the night. There is no elevator which may be significant if you have a lot of luggage. This is not a luxury hotel by any means; in fact it is the opposite. You may be apprehensive upon entering the front door. But its location and the price make up for the shortcomings.
Loved the location. Once we were in a room with a bathroom it was all good. Upgraded for a reasonable amount.
In room with no bathroom, 2 hangers, 2 small drawers, no hooks or place to put anything, Hung wet towel on TV. Shared bathroom had no place to hang anything! No soap and no paper towels. Pictures on-line don't represent new hotel look.
Friendly staff, cheap price. Good if you don't plan to spend much time in room.
Shared bathroom, tiny room, very noisy. Currently under new management and reconstructing-- lobby was a mess.
Fully renovated stylish rooms with flat screen tv, but better take the superior room with bathroom inside. Modern Lobby with lots of flower. Middle garden is so beautiful. Staffs so friendly. Great locations, minutes away from penn station, shops, restaurant & bar..
If you decided to stay in a standard rooms just be aware coz there's not many shared bathroom. I think only 1 shared bathroom per floor. The internet connection is unstable especially on the 4th fl. Cable TV isn't working well.
too expensive a lot of nice
Location and staff
The construction work
very pleasant staff
street noise - the hotel is located on the intersection of two busy streets full on construction rooms and facilities are not suitable for a living hotel photos do not reflect the actual state of it rooms are tiny (closet size) shared bathrooms are unfinished after renovation
Great Location Medium Prices (considering the location) Reasonably Clean
Very Small Room No Bathroom in Room Renovation was being done when i stayed so place looked a bit off but maybe it will be fixed once they are done with the place
Everything, esp service and location
At first the outward appearance made me leery (re renovations) but once we got inside, it was great. The front desk staff are obviously in the right business. They were amazing. Bahama Mama
The staff are great, friendly and very helpful. They helped me find my way around the city and gave me useful tips on places to visit. Even though it was under renovation the premises were quite clean.
Just a little bit pricey
Stayed here for 2 days to see New York , Perfect for a place to stay if your are seeing the sights of New York during the day and just sleeping in the hotel at night !! good value for money !!
The wireless and the long stair case
The rooms and the location was quite nice!
The stairs. Our room was on the top floor!
The picture of the room online was nothing what it was when i arrived
The location was excellent The room was big and spacious There was a discount for the construction works
The tv reception was poor at best I was woken up most mornings by construction work. I was on vacation staying out late most nights so I need to sleep till mid morning which never happened. I only found out about the construction works once I arrived. The bedroom carpet was not swept while I was there The sheets were not changed The WIFI was erratic The strings to close and open the drapes did not work properly There was no ice machine !!!!
Superior rooms on 4th floor are nice, normal doble rooms are too small and have a shared bathroom
The place was being remodeled so everything was kinda dirty
The location was great with nearby subway stops and citibike stations. The staff were pleasant and friendly. The quirky boutique hotel styling was a nice touch, but they were actively doing reconstruction work while I was there and some areas were unfinished. Thankfully, there was free wi-fi. It mostly worked but occasionally it was super slow to the point of being unusable. Overall a good budget hotel, but with some quirks/trade-offs
The lack of an elevator was painful, although the bellboy was eager to carry baggage up after check in. The communal bathroom was OK, but may not be ideal for some people. My room was super small, although I saw others that were much bigger. There was a lot of construction underway throughout the hotel, but in time that shouldn't be an issue.
construction, front door not working,
Hotel was under construction but room was very clean and recently renovated.
Room cleaning in the morning was just making the bed and folding the towels. Did not get new towels and tr bathroom was not cleaned.
Friendly staff, lovely, newly redecorated room, marvellously central location and a youth hostel vibe without the hostel. What's not to love ?
staff was so kind and very nice. Room was also very neat and comforting.
There wasn't any notice about construction on the hostel. Please notice before customers make a booking.
I liked the position as its close to all the areas in manhaten
The hotel was not that clean and the rooms are a bit small
Despite the ongoing renovations the staff were extremely accommodating and compared to other hotels in this price range in NY there's no competition. The rooms are brand new, modern and comfortable and the location is great.
An elevator would have been great, but that's not a huge issue?
