Chelsea Star Hotel  

Het is leuk voor backpackers die andere mensen willen ontmoeten. Voor ons was het afschuwelijk. Gelukkig konden we onze reservering cancelen en kregen wij voor de (al betaalde) 3e nacht ons geld terug.

Na de 1e nacht hebben wij besloten zsm uit het hostel/hotel te vertrekken. Het is meer wat voor backpackers met low-budget. Onze kamer was 2bij3 en had alleen een bed en het was aan de straatkant dus vrij luidruchtig. Wij zijn uiteindelijk naar het ace hotel gegaan dat hotel is echt top en verdient oprecht en 9+

Top locatie en briljante service! Er waren nog prive kamers over dus deze kregen we zonder extra kosten. Verder zijn we 2 extra nachten gebleven, zonder reservering omdat we niet uit nyc weg konden. Dat was erg fijn. The location was perfect and briliant service. There were still private rooms left so we goy these without extra charge. We stayed 2 extra nights because we couldnt leave due to severe weather. This was no problem and no extra charges.

Cheap hotel with great location, in the middle of Manhattan, 2 minutes walk to Penn Station/Madison Square. Friendly staff. Free tea and coffee in the lobby from 7 do 11 am. Free Wi-Fi in the room. There is also a luggage storage, which is very useful (2 USD per 1 piece of luggage). Very good choice to stay for 1-2 nights in Manhattan.

The room (single room) was very small and it was very hot inside. A bit loud (but it's Manhattan, so it is normal).

I stayed in the dorm room with three random girls. It was a pretty simple room, but the beds were comfortable and the air-conditioning was amazing. We shared a bathroom between the four of us, and everything was really clean and. It was definitely good value for money, and the hotel location was extremely convenient.

There are stairs up to the reception area, so it was a little cumbersome to have to lug my bags up. Also, they charged for towels and baggage storage - it wasn't expensive, but most hotels will do those things for free.

Only stairs - a bit hard with heavy baggage. Room smelled of pizza (could have been my shoes!).

Smokers area outside within the hotel! U got to meet people it was very intimate 'hotel'. Don't expect the Marriott. However it was very clean

No real breakfast as stated plus the hotel picture is to accurate.

the staff was nice, fixed any problems I had and (I was in one of the hostel rooms) my roommate was very friendly. the bathroom and beds were clean, the location was great (right across the street from Penn Station) and its easy to get to.

the entrance is tucked in a corner, so if you dont watch out you'll miss it.

Location was decent.

Just about everything besides the location. No water pressure. Inept staff. Terribly uncomfortable bed (which lacked a fitted bed sheet and hence you were sleeping on bare mattress half the time). Worst part - I asked the "concierge" to arrange for a taxi to bring me to the airport, which never showed up. I would classify this "hotel" as a "no service" hostel. Better than sleeping on a park bench, I guess. But barely.

The staff was very helpful, and helped me cheerfully with my luggage. They also upgraded my room which I really did appreciate. Since there are no elevators, that was so great, and very much appreciated. The staff was also helpful with directions and ideas for sightseeing. The place is funky, but fun, reasonably clean, and in a great location near Penn Station. The price was excellent, and I would recommend this to anyone looking for inexpensive, well-situated, no frills lodging in an over-priced city.

Only a minor thing -- their cable package is not very good.

Staff was thoughtful enough to upgrade us to a superior room so our son wouldn't need to use the shared bathroom. It was spacious and had a big window, which was also nice, and quieter than others although we were still disturbed once by loud guests talking in the hallway late at night.
