really nice hotel, super close to shopping area and you can walk to every highlight. Lobby is small but cute with an ATM, which is convenient.
wifi didn't work on my or my friends phone
Brenda from reception, and Allen from valet were really nice and funny. They made my stay.
AMAZING location, friendly helpful staff. I would return in spite of the small problems.
Room was really tight...no shelf, no table to place things and pity the attached cafe wasn't open for breakfast
Beds and age of everything
Staff, location, room
Dirty Poorly maintained
Often the room wasn't cleaned until 5pm! Each day, the staff would forget something - one day, the coffee. Another the toilet paper. A third time, the soap AND the coffee. (Despite speaking to hotel reception.)
all except showerhead
showerhead was not good. change it to have me back.
Very convenient location - close to the Loop (5 minutes walk) and Mignificent mile - right behind the conner. A lot of cafes to have brekfast in.
The building of the hotel is very old, and the renovation was not made since then. Everything is very old and have a tons of paint in the attempt to hide marks of age. The additional charge for safebox in your room to be charged ($1,5 + tax per night) - optional, but still wierd. One of beds were broked in our room, also there was no remoute control in our room and we have to wait a hole day lond and ask 3 times to get it in our room.
I stayed 4 nights and The Red Roof Inn provided everything that I needed, location- close to all attractions and good shopping. I had a great room with lovely city views and amenities in the room, very comfortable, clean and quiet. I would stay here again.
Some noisy guests on one occasion coming and going in early hours of the morning. Reception staff didn't go out of their way to be helpful, would help with basic needs if asked. Not sure of value for money, seemed a bit pricey but may not be given the location, I didn't compare others in the area - might be worth doing.
I loved the fact is was clean & update furnishing. It was a block over from the store front malls & Great restaurants
I didn't like how small the bathroom was & the low water pressure on the shower. But nothing overbearing.
Overpriced for a dirty place, smells smoky, feels dirty, they gave me a room at 180 the night where literally the sink was coming off the wall in the bathroom, there were cracks in the tub ... Literally. They did give me my money back when I showed them the pictures I took if the place.
Location is in the center and very close to the lake and to the beach.
Good location, staff were nice
Small pricy room, some small cleaning issues, unventilated room
The staff was pretty good until the day of checkout. The manager resolved the few issues that we had by compensating us the third night of our stay.
Checkout was at noon and we were woke up twice in the morning once at 9am when someone knocked once and used their key card to open the door to "check if the room was still occupied" after that unpleasant awakening I bolted the door only to be awoke a second time less than an hour later by the maid who opened the door but once she realized the lock was bolted said she was sorry and would come back later. There was also some kind of error with the Booking.com communication to the Inn because even though I was charged full price upon check in on the third night they needed my credit card again to charge the third night. I refused and spoke to a manager in the morning. The Wi-Fi didnt work in the room the entire stay and we weren't told there was an issue until the third day. They said that it was only working in the lobby.
Good price specially where it is
-The location was nice. Right in downtown Chicago. -Staff was relatively friendly, greeting us as we came and went. The evening desk woman would recommend food and bars. -I didn't get bed bugs, so that's a plus. I'm joking about this, of course. It wasn't THAT level of dirty. It was just the general dinginess of an old building that is not being properly maintained.
-Not very clean. It doesn't appear to have had a good cleaning for quite some time. -Too small. Just because you *CAN* fit 2 beds in it, doesn't mean you should. The room had NO room to walk in. We rented for 4 people. We were on top of each other the entire time. -Staff didn't seem capable of handling problems when we called. Basic complaints about a broken door and wifi were met with disinterest. -The room was in disrepair. The bathroom door wouldn't close unless forced. The door knob was hanging out of the frame. It was useless. You used it to pull the door into place (as you lifted a bit) to get the door to fit into the frame. I called about this when we arrived. No one fixed it during our 4 night stay. -Housekeeping was not very attentive. They brought towels every day, but the beds may or may not get made. It didn't look like anything was cleaned. We had to go get our own toilet paper and soap...we were out before housekeeping came, but they didn't bother replacing any of that. -The free Wifi doesn't exist. We never got it to work...we finally found the transmitter in the hallway and that was the only time we got a signal. I spoke to tech support, but after 10 minutes of talking in circles with him, I lied and told him it was fine. I was done worrying about it and wanted to leave! I shouldn't have to go through that much trouble to get something you claim is a part of your conveniences. Perhaps with a change in management, this place could thrive, but it's obvious this building needs more help than it is currently getting.
The location was perfect! The magnificent mile is literally right around the corner! You can get valet parking for $44 a night and you can come and go as you please.
The hotel was clean for the most part you can tell that they only cleaned the bare minimum though. There was crumbs and dirt in all of the corners and the walls were dirty. The hotel staff was nice but if you needed anything you had to actually go down there and get it yourself. But for the price of the hotel I'm not going to complain too much, even with the negatives I will be coming back again.
Good location, friendly staff, clean room.
Older building that needs to be upgraded. Room was a little small. Bathroom was small too.
I like the location and the staff was good and pleasant.
Room was small and cramped. Inadequate lighting. Wifi and cable dropped out for long period of time and for this the Rebated some money.
The hotel was filthy. Floors (especially hall floors)were covered in trash but yet there were vacuums on every floor. Maybe they were for decoration because they weren't being used. Staff was not professional at all. For price of room it was very disappointing.
Location, location, location!
The sink and tub didn't drain well.
Roof wasnt half serviced the first day, not touched the second. A cotton wood bud was on floor outside our roof on the first, was still there on the third. Not good.
Couldn't get wifi in the bedroom. Had to sit in the lobby for it.
