Score from 69 reviews Good
All we were looking for in Provo was a functional, inexpensive place to spend the night on our way from the canyon country of southern Utah back to the Salt Lake City airport, where we had late-morning flights out the next day. The price at the Passport Inn & Suites was right, especially for a room with two king-sized beds, but I should have looked at some of the other reviews more carefully.
I can't remember when I've stayed in a seedier or more run-down motel. Holes in the walls (one of which was painted a lurid shade of dark green), broken lampshades, dirty carpets, grungy-looking linens -- you name it. We spread our own t-shirts over the pillowcases, not really trusting their cleanliness. The blankets were also much too narrow (clearly intended for double or at most queen, barely reaching the edges of the bed), thus negating the value of having king-sized beds. The one redeeming aspect of our stay was the meal we ate at El Mexsal Restaurant around the corner -- the Salvadorian pupusas were a treat.
Front Desk Lady
The Shower was broken made it very hard to take a shower I had to use a cup to pour water on myself and the TV remote did not work
The man at the front desk was very helpful. He let my Son stay while he waited for the rest of us to come even though we didn't arrive until after midnight.
We reserved a room with two king beds which the manager gave away a few hours before our arrival, because he couldn't get ahold of us (we were driving). He later provided rooms, for an additional amount, which were not very clean. At one point I noticed the remote for the TV wasn't working. I went down to the front desk and told the lady what the problem was. She rummaged around a drawer and pulled out four more batteries that looked equally used and which didn't work.
The staff was pleasant. When I noticed the room did not have an alarm clock and I needed to be up early in the morning, they provided me with one (they explained the rooms did not have alarm clocks because most people used their cell phones). The room was clean. There was a TV, a microwave and a fridge. Although I dd not use any of these, it was nice that they were there.
Ever hotel room I have stayed in for man years has been equipped with an alarm clock. Not everyone has a cell phone with an alarm. When I checked out and was asked if the bed was comfortable, I said it was, even though I had to use my mountain climbing equipment to get into it. The bed was very high, which I did not like. I am used to sitting on the edge of the bed to get dressed in the morning. Couldn't do that here. The rooms were very spartan. It would be nice to have a picture or two on the walls. There were only 3 hangers, which was fine, since I was just staying one nigh. Had I been staying longer, I would have wanted more. Most motels nowadays provide breakfast. I stayed at a hotel in Boise, Idaho a couple of years ago that provided a great breakfast and the cost was much less than this one. Even just toast and juice, or a waffle iron with a pitcher of batter would do if they don't want to go all out. I'm sure it would increase the ratings of this motel.
no elevators no ice machine in 100 degree weather a/c not working
Not much... the price maybe
There were holes in the walls, the floor was dirty, the lights were falling off the walls and the hairdrier was burned...
Price, you get what you pay for.
Finding hairs in the bathroom before upon arrival.
It was cheap and the staff were very nice. When it's cheap, you really can't complain too much. The DISH on the TV was Great to fall asleep to. I just used it as a stopping point so I wouldn't have to drive so far to Vegas the next day.
There was no Kleenex. The paint job on the room was hilarious. The ceiling was painted white and it dripped onto the brown molding in every corner, making the room look like it was still being renovated. The cops followed me around as soon as I pulled out from the motel. This is nothing to do with the motel, of course, but please remember this town is the Iran of America; There is no fun allowed in Utah. No real beer, and at 11PM Taco Bell is already closed, so if you're hungry, eat early like the Mormons intended. The town of Provo really is a shitshow, but this is not the fault of the cheap, funderful, fleabag, known as The Passport, Which I would use again.
That motel is filthy and should be taken of your list. It is the proverbial "dive"
Pillows were cheap, small, uncomfortable (not firm) and even one pillow case had foot prints (someone definitely stepped on it and never replaced that pillow cover). I called room service, telephone rung forever but no one answered.
Under construction, stated when we would arrive when booking but room was not ready and we were a few hours after the time I had stated. Poor job in cleaning up after workers left. Told bedding would be changed due to sawdust from drilling in room but it was not just swept up.
It was awful. Filthy. Gob of hair under pillow. Dirty floor. Accumulation of grime along floor edges. Broken hot water knob on bathroom sink.
The workers that were remodeling the place were nice, friendly and helpful.
Linens and bedspread looked dirty. Towels looked soiled, tv was old, no ice, soda machine didn't work.
The amenities in my room. I like having a microwave and mini fridge as much as the wifi and cable. The quality of my towels were nice.
In serious need of Décor help. Use the name Passport Inn and be a little more creative in the decorating of the rooms.
The room was very dirty (stained couch which was covered with a sheet and the bed spread had red stains on the back side of the bed spread and it was very unacceptable. I requested a non smoking room, when I arrived the door was wide open and it wreak a cigarette smoke
The King beds were new and very comfortable. There was a diner close by. It was easy to find.
This room was dirty and needed a good general cleaning of floors, doors, and baseboards. The blankets had not been laundered and had stuff stuck to them and the floor under the beds had debris. We had to ask for supplies to be stocked in the room.
The Passport Inn was clean, very comfortable and quiet. Anything we needed was a short walk or easy drive. They were currently renovating the rooms and doing a fabulous job! Our room was partially renovated. So ,we could get a good idea what the completed rooms would be like. I have no reason to stay anywhere else in Provo. There is a diner next door. Breakfast was excellent.
There is nothing to dislike.
1) Desk clerk was very helpful and friendly 2) Frig and microwave a plus
1) Room could use more than one chair, and a place to hang clothes 2) Bedside lamp didn't work
Room service came in before we had checked out and walked in on us changing :)
I made reservations online to stay Friday, March 7, 2014 through Monday March 10, 2014. I received the key to room 208 upon check-in. I went to the room to find it in deplorable condition. There are phone wires hanging off the wall to the right by the window. There are chips in the sheetrock. There is a musty smell and bubbled tape on the ceiling from what looks to be water damage. The outlet immediately to the left of the door near the floor is broken and burned on top. The heater looks to have been kicked in and also looks like it has been on fire. I went down tot he desk to ask for a different room. I ended up checking into rooms 209,210, 211, and 212. ALL of them had similar issues as well as crumbs of sheetrock dropping from the ceiling. I refused to stay there and went to another property for lodging. They still want to charge me for one night, which I am contesting. Do not waste your time or your money.
paint peeling from walls no covers on some light fixtures and wall plugs. tv remote did not work
Good price. Location.
There was a funky smell. Where the smoke alarm should have been, there were wires coming out of the wall.
The location was handy for what I needed.
The ceiling had leaked and was falling in. The TV did not work - none of the remotes functioned. The bed had plastic on it that made it very hot and sweaty in the night. The bathroom had mildew around the tub. There was hair on my pillow. The towels and bedding were old, holey and stained. The desk attendant tried to let us pay but the credit card machine didn't work so it was completed later. Huge gap around the door that let lots of light into the room.
