Not a ton of restaurants around the area, so you'll have to either walk to the Riverwalk district for food or have something delivered (and luckily there are a ton of great delivery places). Because it is close to the Amtrak station you can hear the train and its horn when it comes and goes, but it was never at ungodly hours (depending on how late you sleep in, I guess) and actually became my alarm clock in the morning.
Great budget hotel right on the outskirts of downtown (about 4 blocks from the Riverwalk district, but like most things in Texas, the blocks are bigger than expected), across the street from the Amtrak station, and up the street from the Alamodome. Super clean facilities, friendly staff, well-appointed room (ironing board + mini fridge), free unlimited Wifi, very comfortable and relaxing. The hotel isn't really geared towards family (no kitchen facilities, dining area, or pool) so it was mostly adults and quieter as a result. I would definitely stay here again.
