The interior design was very nice! The rooms were fair enough, space wise, but they were very humid. The hotel staff was not helpful at all. We had to wait a long time before get checked in, then when asked a question about the neighborhood we got a very poor answer! When checking out, it was a different person, and she was not helpful either! Also very slow service! For me mainly the staff was a problem. But then, we booked our room through booking.com and it included breakfast, it was just some yoghurt w toast. Again the service in the breakfast area was very bad! Nobody around to order, and when she came out of the kitchen, she didnt speak very good english and we waited for (payed) eggs and pancakes over 30min!

Claridge is a beautiful historic hotel. The rooms were lovely and the beds were very comfortable. There is a convenient car park over the road which is free 8pm to 8am. My booking stated breakfast included but there is actually a daily resort fee of ten dollars plus tax (about 15 dollars in total) which the hotel insist on guests paying . They say it covers breakfast, wifi and beach towels. There are also local taxes to pay. If you want anything other than cereals or bread/pastrys there is also an extra fee of about 7 dollars. None of this is clear when booking. The rooms are quite noisy as most of them are built around a courtyard which has a large jacuzzi which is used until late. The jacuzzi is quite noisy.

The place has soul! I chose this hotel using my intuition and I was looking for a place that was affordable, relaxing and with proximity to the beach. I really enjoyed my stay because the staff were so welcoming and the Italian restaurant was better than average. That's both food and service. They make excellent strong coffee and I was more than happy to eat in every night. My room was cosy and quiet as I had requested. I would definitely stay here again. Nothing. It was great.

Small hotel with lots of character Poor shower. Bathtub was slippery - no mat provided, had to be extremely careful not to fall.

Rooms smelt dank and musty. Air conditioning throughout the hotel was poor and completely broke down in the first room we were allocated, so we had to move rooms. Toilet seat was falling off. Supposed "period features" were just an excuse for ill designed battered furniture offering very little comfort. Hotel staff were painfully slow to answer any queries and many did not speak fluent English. Generally I felt the hotel was a disgrace and offered very poor value for money, it ranks far below the much cheaper chains such as Days Inn.

It is not far away from the beach. We reserved three hotels on booking.com during our travel in Miami, lf,usa from July 27 to Aug 10, 2011. By comparison, we had much more pleasant experience with the other two. Here are sth we say about the hotel.1) There were too many mosquitos idoors, either in our room or in the lobby (we had to use wireless Internet in the lobby). We put up in the room on 1st floor, and had a lot of mosquito bites on the legs and arms. (I took a photo of the mosquito bites on my right leg for file); 2) Due to the old age of the hotel, we saw quite a few cockroaches running in the room. I killed one of the larger (about two inches long) behind the wardrobe room. 3) The Air Conditioning was not functioning at all even though we could hear loud noise from the ventilation; 4) What we felt deluded was that there was a indoor pool in the hotel according to the ad on booking.com. To our surprise, the pool was no larger than the spa of the hotel we stayed days before. If you have any other place to stay, you'd better stay away.

1. Bad smell in rooms (comes from the old furniture - wormholes and moths), old windows (loud noise, especially under the ac plant on the roof), broke fittings in the bathroom. The safe wasn't working, broken bulbs. Everything was in a poor condition and very old. Overrated and expensive! 2. We were charged with an extra $100, without knowing, for "curtain hanger fallen down and stains on the curtains". Things that never happen. They came with this answer after lying that I will receive the money and avoiding my emails and for more than a month. We will report this hotel for fraud and overrated ranking! BAD EXPERIENCE! DON'T RECOMMEND!

I liked the area. Right at the start of South Beach. Dinner was ok. They offer a poor quality breakfast. They say it's continental ($16) , but if you order an egg, you have to pay extra. I realy thought that was not correct. The other thing is the noise of the room next to you. You can hear everything. It's at a level that doesn't fit the price of the hotel. I was alone, but couples may look elsewhere.

The bedroom was clean and comfortable, the staff were helpful and fair when there was a mis-communication about breakfast being included with price, they honoured their mistake and gave us breakfast. The spa bath is a lovely place to unrewind. Upon check in i was told my card was being declined. I decided to withdraw cash for this reason, the hotel desk clerk told me there was an ATM in the hotel I could use which didn't have a cash withdrawal limit, he was wrong and the limit was £120, after travelling all day I wanted to settle the bill and relax so I used this ATM and accepted I'd be charged $9 to withdraw enough cash to settle bill. The cash machine then jammed and stopped working, taking $20 of my money. The staff were very unhelpful and nonchalant about my money ring lost, did not ring the company for 2 days when we were departing.

We enjoyed the jacuzzi, although it was in a fairly open area and the hours were not very accomodating. The decor was fairly nice, but nothing that was extraordinary Many of the items in the room (such as the window and the shower)did not function correctly. There was also a construction project across the street that was very noisy in the mornings and caused the entire area to become dusty. There were many hidden fees, such as resort fees, fees for extra people, and many others that caused the original price of the room to rise dramatically. During the night, the pipes were extremely loud and most members of the family were woken up on more than one occasion. when we asked the front desk about it, they were largely unhelpful and uncaring about the fact. The elevator and the stairs both smelled disgusting. There was originally also a deal in which two customers would get a free continental breakfast each morning for the duration of their stay, but the offer expired one day before we arrived, and there was no word about the expiration date on booking.com.

Great location. Generally pretty good but we had a variety of loud plumbing or ac sounds in our room that started when we first checked in around 8 pm and than woke us up in the middle of the night and went on for 45 minutes. Really annoying. Hopefully they fixed the problem but not before we got a really bad night's rest.

Nice and cozy hotel with a Mediterranean theme. Front Desk staff Mary was very courteous and helpful. There was a resort fee chargeable for towels, internet and local telephone which should be noted in the room rate. We booked the hotel through Bookings.com and there was no reference of a resort fee.

Good location on Collins Ave, very close to the beach. The room is spacious, beds and pillows are excelent. They took good care of packages arriving for me before my stay, and extended our checkout time with no hassle. The hotel is understaffed, and the staff seems demotivated at times. Every time I needed something from them it took time and I had to come back to somebody else to get things done. Other members of our group had a lot of trouble with utilities not working (a/c, shower). There was no parking when we arrived and we had to ask them to remove the charges from our bill. Beware of the 13% tax on top of the nightly rate!

A fee if you let your bag in the hotel until you're able to check in. (5$) a fee if you want to check in early. (25$) If you book a room for three you have to pay the third breakfast.

The hotel staff was amazing! They accommodated my family and I during my wedding weekend and they were beyond wonderful. We had everything we needed-- and then some. The room was always clean, the hotel was quiet, and the staff responded to anything we needed immediately. The service was far better than I expected from any hotel--especially one with such a reasonable price! The Italian feeling decor is also a warm and welcoming touch. I definitely recommend this hotel. The jacuzzi is nice, but it does not have a pool (which is fine if you like the beach). Also, room service comes from their downstairs restaurant and the breakfast is less than impressive. We didn't even try the dinner.

“I liked the modern decor and the room was a great size. There were plenty of services available such as food, bar, pool however we didn't use any of them during our stay. The location was perfect for our trip as far away enough to not be noisy but only a short walk from all the action” Louise, Grand Cayman, |
