great location near the center of town and near the ocean

the toilet kept on running every time we use the bath room, the chain kept coming off the float valve.

Clarion hotel was excelent choice. We stay here for 3 nidhts. Fireplace, pool, good location for trips on whole Monterey penninsula.

This place is a motel, not a hotel as the name suggests.

Location was good. Really close to downtown and the fisher's area.

Some pillows had the smell of other guest's heads. That was disgusting. The pool water wasn't warm. Breakfast wasn't that bad but other guest shared with us their yoghurt since the amount was limited. No chocolate powder (Nesquik or so) to add to the kids milk.

I stayed here overnight for the Big Sur Halfmarathon. The staff decided that anyone who takes part in the race can have a late checkout (1pm) so you can take a shower afterwards. That was great!!

If you're looking for really really basic accommodation with zero frills and still want to pay pretty much the same price as the luxurious hotel up the road, this is the hotel for you! The girl on reception was friendly and helpful though.

Dark, dirty, old fashioned bedroom, basic "continental breakfast" with very limited options, outrageous prices - definitely not recommended. I would say perfect for backpackers/budget travelers but the prices are still ridiculous.

Nothing exceptional springs to mind. You get exactly what you expect and what you have paid for.

The hotel is located about 15 to 20 minutes walk from the "business" end of the town and car parking in the town is mostly fee paying. Be prepared for this walk or the cost of parking if you want to see Monterey.

Had pool and spa.Comfortable bed.

No obvious instructions on how to switch on the spa. Nothing to do around the area,don't always want to drive in the evenings. As mentioned by other reviewers, there is an odd smell to the room and socks and/or feet were filthy from walking on the bedroom carpet

we arrived late night and we got out room by 1 min... breakfast was nice.

I got upgraded to a room with a fireplace and a full kitchen. It was a great room -- clean, comfortable beds, etc. My room faced into the courtyard and was plenty quiet enough.

Some reviews have said it was walking distance to shops and stuff, and it really wasn't, unless you're up for a real walk. Also, there was no room in the parking lot, and I had to park in the street.

Reasonable priced hotel

The breakfast wasn't too brilliant, but then again we were a bit sick and tired of continental breakfast by the time we reached Monterery

the fact that it's only 2 floors so no elevator, so had to lug my heavy suitcase up and down the stairs by myself and it's hard.

The hotel is nice and the room was big and well equipped.

It was during the weekend of motorbike race at Laguna Seca and so we paid absolutely too much for that kind of hotel. It is not close to the city centre.

I paid $220.00 a night and had to park 1 1/2 blocks from the hotel. They do not have parking for all of their guests. If I have to park infront of a different hotel I might as well stay at there and not have to walk. Mike McIsaac 408 226 1758

It is more like an inn, not a hotel. Breakfast is really poor.

This is great value for money in an otherwise pretty expensive town! The rooms were recently refurbished and are excellent in size and comfort. The location on State Street is perfect, just five minutes down the road you have great restaurants and bars. The pool with salt water was a very pleasant surprise as was the food at the Crocodile restaurant on the premise.

As with most motels in the US, towels are great, small in size and very thin. There were also no towels provided at the pool nor was there any bar service. The rooms also lacked a fridge which, in most cases, you do find in US motels.
