The position near the Union Square in the city center
There is nothing to say about
Value for money & clean. We got upgraded to a Junior Suite which was quite big.
Badly planned bathroom. The door wouldn't close without hitting pot, the shower wouldn't drain so we had to bathe in knee deep water, there's no way 2 people could fit in one bathroom. Considering it was a junior suite, it should have been bigger with better fittings!
The concierge could not have been less helpful... Really dampened the experience. The basic rooms are tiny and my minibar was never filled.
Exterior look and lobby Rooms are large
The rooms need renovation, the interlinking door made me hear every word of the party people next door, I could not sleep at all, Bad experience after paying to high price
We loved the spacious room.
-Overall Design -Size of room -Bathroom products -Concierge
To pay on top for wifi, work on the balcony of the room (deluxe king size), no kettle in the room.
I stayed at the Clift for two nights in which I had experienced a number of unfortunate events. To begin with, the reception staff were not warm and welcoming AT ALL!!! They knew we were tourists and did not offer to give us a city guide or a map, they didn't even ask, very poor attitude. Secondly, the car park is a major issue at the hotel since they charge you $59 for overnight parking. I've never stayed at a hotel were I had to pay this insane amount especially that I'm a hotel guest. When we checked out, my friend and I realized that we could've basically stayed at a 5 star hotel with the difference of parking money; I thought it was a complete hidden cost scam. The bathtub is very dirty and there was a major draining/leaking issue, when we informed the reception upon check out, all she said was "oh, thank you for letting us know, I'll send an engineer to take a look". A respectable hotel would compensate one way or another, not this one. We paid exactly what we would've have paid at the W or Westing which is just across the street and much nicer. BAD BAD BAD experience
Excellent hotel, awesome rooms, great staff, and great location!!! Everything was perfect.
Great location in the heart of San Francisco, easy access by BART. Spacious and clean rooms.
There is "style over substance" feeling. The building is an old one and despite some modern touches feels worn out.
Great bed linens.
Hotel is too dark, and hallways are quite drab and depressing. In their attempt to be upscale chic, they list identity.
In the center of city.
The bath was old and small
We like the location as it is very easy to get anywhere. The staff are very helpful when one arrives and needs to unload baggage from car. Suggested we take their town car to the airport… very comfortable and only $5 more than going taxi rate. Rooms and beds are very comfortable.
Staff was great! They have security at elevators so that only guests can go up to the rooms. They don't allow panhandlers to loiter around the hotel.
Didn't like the bar table fee $350 was a bit much especially guests staying at the hotel.
It was my first time going to San Francisco and I wasn't sure where to stay. I looked at the reviews for Clift and booked it based on the positive feedback. The location was excellent and the room was wonderful. We booked a standard room and ended up getting upgraded to a junior suite for our 5 night stay. The staff was also very friendly. The room was spacious and beautiful. Just an FYI, this hotel is also quite hip with lots going on at night if you want to pop down to the bar for a drink, but we couldn't hear anything from our room, so it was a great balance.
The bathrooms are little dated, but then again, if they were nicer, I'm sure this room wouldn't have been affordable. They're still very clean, however, and perfectly functional.
The Clift Morgan Hotel offers good value. It's ideally located near Union Square and offers quiet, codan and comfortable rooms.
Very little hanging space for clothing and bathroom in need of minor maintenance.
The ultimate hotel to stay in San Francisco ! The staff is very friendly and helpful, the doormen are the ones with the best knowledge of good places to see. Breakfast-buffet is based on european thinking much better than all the others you will find in the small cafe's around (choice of evereything you want). We had a calm room at 7th floor (719....end of the floor), lot's of space for our suitcases, bathroom nice and in a good shape. Minibar offers more than you need (+helpful things like a charger, good shaving set....). We mostly experienced the city by walking or with the tour bus (Hop on, hop off....much cheaper than a taxi) and recommend to visit Hayes, which is a chilly and calm part of the city with nice restaurants and shops). And finally one word to the critics of other visitors: if you read before you book, you should know, what you will get ;-) Why then complaining?
Room is small, dated and expensive. But from what i have heard since about SF the price i paid is the norm.
customer service was great. We had a problem with our tub being clogged the first night. They tried to fix it the next day but they could not so we were moved to an amazing apartment for a day as they didn't have a room with our needs available. While it was a hassle to move the apartment made up for it. Nice lounge....lovely quiet room, great bedding....great water pressure!
Really small bathrooms..... no place to put your stuff. Sorry but at this day and age...all hotels should supply free wifi for room. Also the concierge should be careful of what restaurants they recommend. The chinese restaurant The Great Eastern was not good at all.....they looked at a map (which seemed to be a special Clift hotel map) and pointed to the restaurant. Seems that the restaurants on the map are paying the hotel to send customers their way. Buyers beware.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. Bed was very comfortable and quiet environment. Redwood Room lovely decor. Good people watching and great cocktails.
This was what I was unhappy about. If you sitting in the lobby living room area you were able to connect to Wi-Fi for free. But if you wanted to Wi-Fi in your room there was a $14.95 charge. So if you're a visitor off the street you could get internet access for free, but if you are a paying guest there was a fee. That was the only negative. :-( But for me a big negative.
Lobby bar party at night. Next to service elevator so I can hear sound of mechanical room.
Lighting made hotel first floor a little too dark
Great and very friendly staff, nice spacious rooms
