We did not receive towels one day, and when we went down to to the desk
in the late evening to get some, we could not find anyone at the desk.
We called the front desk that evening and several times the following
morning, but no one answered. We ended up using 2 hand towels to dry off
after showering. One staff member talked on her cell phone the entire
time she helped us store our luggage. The staff was very nice, and tried
hard, but they are clearly understaffed and not particularly
professional. The rooms and bathrooms are also incredibly small. They
are clean and functional, but by no means luxurious or even comfortable.
We had to step aside to allow each other to pass to the closet or
bathroom, and we could not bend over in the bathroom with the door
closed, unless we stood in the shower stall. We avoided spending time in
our room because of this.
The location for the price can't be beat. The hotel is on a safe and
pretty block, and only one block from Central Park. It's close to
neighborhood shops and restaurants, Lincoln Center, Museums, 5th Avenue,
Madison Avenue, and Times Square,. The subway is very close. Getting
around is very easy, an it is in one of my favorite parts of Manhattan.
The beds are comfortable, and the hotel feels safe. The staff is
