No "Do not disturb" cards. Being waken up every day in the morning.
The price is reasonable considering its great location. The room is comfortable to stay. Staff being kind and helpful.
The toilet was very poor and regularly got clogged. The shower only trickled and the room was not cleaned. In addition, the tv channels were very basic.
Nothing much, just the sink of the bathroom is a little small.
Comfortable bed, free good wifi, kitchen with many tools, the bathroom is a little small but ok. I had a great time there
The place is not well staffed so they have office hours for reception which means that if you have an emergency outside of office hours there is absolutely no one to help you out. The check in time is 2 pm which is really late and the check out time is 11 am which is earlier than most places. I was there for a day and interacted with nobody except the cleaning lady who herself didn't know how to help me. They also don't serve breakfast. Overall the service leaves a lot to be desired.
The location is great and the rooms are clean.
Friendly and helpful staff, with the comfort of an apartment and the convenience of a hotel (regular cleaning services, linens, towels etc. all provided).
When I use booking.com to reserve the room, there were two options to select, either smoking or non-smoking room. I selected smoking room, but when I asked for ash tray, tray told me that all rooms are non smoking!!!
The location was so convenient and wifi was excellent.
the kitchen, bathroom, lack of availability of staff, lack of information about events
The location and neighborhood
I think the price is high for guesthouse but it possibly OK for this area in Boston compared with other places
If you have a bottom floor you can hear people go up and down the stairs. No breakfast.
Location near transportation and in a safe area. The authentic look of the building was impressive when I first walked in. Big shower. Friendly staff. Internet, TV.
The room was never properly clean (especially the bathroom). The neighbours (some guys from Cyprus) were all time loud and annoying (playing music after midnight and partying through the week, smoking in the corridor!)
-Sometimes the noise from outside or other rooms could be heard.
-Closeness to the convention centre -Cleanliness of the room -Furnished -Fridge, Microwave Oven, Utensils, TV, WiFi, ...etc. -Staff were helpful.
Room was not nice at all.
There is on-duty staff only from 9-5 and only a few hours on Sunday, absolutely no security, much noise in halls from doors slamming (there are 20-30 husekeeping units at least))... bed was made and towels changed only, but not even a wipedown of the bathroom in the four days I was there. Cancellation policy is $150 in addition to Booking.com's $119, which you find out only when asked to "re-confirm," in effect locking you in at a huge, prohibitive penalty. This is an operation that Booking.com would do well to eliminate from its offerings as it is entirely overpriced, and calling it a "guesthouse" is beyond misleading...it is a misrepresentation of what is being offered.
The bed was comfortable and heat/hot water good. That's all.
There was no privacy sign to put on the door so the craning staff that started at like 8am kept knocking to see if I was in..not fun when you got in late and needed sleep. Also the walls are paper thin!!! And y room was below the staircase and people would stomp and run up and down all night, exhausting for trying to block it out and sleep. The kitchen and supplies especially the coffee maker was dirty and hair was all over the bed and sheets as if it hadn't been changed just nearly re made to look clean.
Great location, close to everything, easy to get around town
Room could be cleaner third floor walkup which was fine except when carrying luggage and staff is not there early or late. Should give a warning about stairs when booking
Location was great easy access to train and lots in the neighborhood bed was comfortable, staff was pleasant helped meveith my bag .
The furniture in the kitchen were very uncomfortable, the table too high for both eating and working. The lack of possibility to ventilate the room, with the thermostat as expected the room was too hot and yet cold air blew through the window over the bed. The windows were not tight. The kitchen tools were broken, dysfunctional and insufficient. For the cold bathroom floor only a small flimsy towel was provided.
The location, the setting with a private small kitchen was great. The room was newly renovated, bathroom and bedroom clean. The staff was friendly.
Proximity to Newberry street, friendliness of staff, room comfort and the little kitchenette!
Unclear about maid role... Some days they would make bed, other days take out garbage, other days just give towels. Either way front desks always open for more toiletries coffee or anything else!
Wifi, location, price
The wifi and Tv didn't work!! After complaining, they didn't change our room. Also, we lived on the 4 floor, there was no elevator and the stairs were so steep and narrow, it was almost impossible to clime up with suitcases!!
The room was very comfortable
No elevator! The walk-up kind of stunk.
Close to fun bars and nightlife of Boston, not far from the Common and the MFA.
No where to park rented car! Should be mentioned in add. No elevator--folk with leg, knee problem beware
Staff very good. Location good.
Would be convenient if office had more extensive hours, and accommodations for storing baggage after 5pm.
Great value for money, not luxurious but what a great way to sample living on Commonwealth Avenue, arguably one of the loveliest avenues in Boston, or anywhere, with its wonderful central walking alley, on-street bike lanes, statues and monuments ending at Public Garden.
The only thing that I was not sure about was the maid service. The maid service was inconsistent. One day I got towels and the bed was made and another day the towels were thrown in the bathroom and the bed half done. Not quite sure what was happening. That however will not deter me from returning.
Commonwealth Guest House was cozy and not overly done. The detailed wood work and interesting architecture made a statement. The room was beautiful and I felt right at home. The bathroom was quite modern but still fit in with the cozy feel. I certainly will be a repeat guest.
The location of this house is near the Prudential shopping center. Easy access to subway station.
