Congress Plaza Hotel  

Chicago je skvělé město, hotel je výborně umístěný.

Z hotelu "dýchá" zašlá sláva (možná jen, že jsem bydlel v nezrekonstruovabém křídle).

Location was the main reason we chose the Congress Hotel

There is a $50 fee to check in before 3pm! I didn't know about this at time of booking.

The hotel staff were not friendly. They never asked how the stay was. We signed up for a queen room and paid for it and we had a full sized bed. We tried to work with the hotel on this and they said to go through booking.com. It was very noisy and they put us in the fire escape room with a very thin door panel and a hatchet to break our door down in case of fire. Paint was chipping off of the walls and bed was uncomfortable. There are strikers out in front of the hotel who have been on strike for 8 years. The hotel administration has only met with the strikers twice in the past year. Not going back to this hotel.

Room was cleaned well. Front desk and bellman service was good.

Dinner at Rafael's was served more than 1 hour late after order was reportedly lost?? Worse, there was no price adjustment on the dinner. We were offered complimentary dessert but did not want it and they kept pressing us to accept it. Also, the staff left the door wide open while they were bringing in the outside chairs, sending a frigid blast of air in the restaurant. We had to flag down the server to ask him to close the door. Finally, we had a lake view room but the outside windows were so dirty, it was hard to see anything and not worth the extra cost. Looked like they hadn't been washed in months. I'm not sure if I want to come back. I have stayed two other times and the service and cleanliness was much better

The location - close to all tourist attractions.

We had a musty, moldy room that stunk. We let the bathroom fan run the entire day while we were out, but it didn't help. We were willing to over look that until we realized that the bedding felt damp. We were willing to over that until we went to adjust the air conditioning and found a cockroach. The front desk gladly upgraded us to a room with a lake front view, but there was a bug on the bed in that room and mold throughout the bathroom.

Really enjoyed the quality of the room for the price paid. It felt like luxury.

Was not able to check in as early as we wanted so we had to walk around Chicago for a bit. Very minor inconvenience and we were there much earlier than the listed check-in time anyway.

The hotel was beautiful inside and out the room was very elegant. Not your average hotel room. This is where we will stay on all of our future trips to chicago.wow! Oh and did I mention the view? Unobstructed lakefront view. Omg it took my breath away.

We happened to be staying in chicago on a weekend when conferences at the convention center literally filled every single hotel in the downtown area... except this one. So, we stayed here since there was no other availability. This hotel is very, very old and has not been fully renovated probably ever. The wallpaper is peeling, there are literally 30 coats of paint on everything, and the level of service is more like a 2 star than a 5 star, but you can't beat the location or convenience. The rooms are large although strangely decorated and it's undeniable that you are in a hotel that was once very grand but has faded in the past 50 years to very sad.

We had a horrible experience with the beligerent man next door. We also didn't feel security did their best to get him to quiet down. After calling security at 3am the gentleman proceeded to slam his door repeatedly and left the volume on his television extremely loud even after leaving his room. We were sleepless from 3am until after 5am. When we complained the desk said "you can choose to move rooms.". That seemed very inconsiderate and we felt as though it was our fault and we should "move" or else that's what we should deal with. The complaint should have been handled better as it was not our fault.

The room was really small and definitely not worth over $100. The hotel seems like it was really old and didnt have any maintenance done to it in a long time. I felt like I was in the 80s.

location was good for the price.

the room was extremely hot. there is no thermastat to control temperature. window would not open. the wall unit was turned to lowest setting but once again the room was very hot and uncomfortable. i will most likely not return

The hotel has amazing history. I loved that you could still feel the history, even though there were many modern touches. The Gold Room is absolutely breathtaking. The location was the tops. After being in the city, we realized just how few hotels there are (especially in this price range that were still this classy!) that had a view of the water. The view from our room was priceless. We looked directly over Grant Park and were able to see beautfiul sunrises. We were in the city, yet not in the middle of all the hub bub. Check in and Check out was a breeze, our room was made up perfectly every day that we used the service and the room was always quiet. We rarely heard hallway noise at all. I would definately recomend this hotel and cannot wait to return again. We will stay here from now on while visiting Chicago!

The bell man couldnt speak very clearly. He was foreign and we had a difficult time understaning him. He was a bit rude as well. Other than that, everything was perfect. ,

The room was a nice size & the view to outside was wonderful. I liked the quiet environment. We wanted to especially point out that Carl was exceptionally helpful. He noticed that my daughter was struggling her bags outside the hotel & offer to help her. I know is maybe his job, however he does it very well. Very respectful.

Bed lacked support, paint chipping off the walls, walls was scuffed & dirty, bathroom fan was very loud, furniture was scratched up, lamps were wobbly. The room was hot when we arrived, so we had to fight w/the windows to open them to cool the room a bit (after we turned off the heater). Parking is located behind the building. There's no carts for luggage. You pay $28 to park, carry your own luggage through the lot & up the sidewalk to the hotel side door. Safety is definitley an issue. No one provides you information on how to access the hotel from the lot.
