The location is close to both the NYU campus and the dorms, which allowed my student son and me to walk between them. The small hotel feel and excellent restaurant complete the picture
Rooms could be roomier, but hey, it's New York!
Close proximity to Astor Place subway. Within walking distance of Soho shopping district. Nice little cafe/restaurant/bar on the ground floor. Taxis were always easy to catch at the front door. Nice outdoor garden space.
Room was fairly tight on space but that is expected in most properties in NYC. Complementary water on a daily basis would have been a nice touch. It would be good to offer guests the option of not changing towels on a daily basis.
The Standard East Village has wonderful vibe and staff. The downstairs is bustling on the weekends, but the rooms upstairs are quiet, well-appointed, and location and view can't be beat. Definitely returning on futures stays and would recommend it to anyone who is visiting the city.....
Good vibes. Fun groovy place to stay.
The very small croudy room, almost the size of the bed. The DARK entrance appearance.
Location and hotel was great. We had some issues the first night, because our room smelled like a grill. The staff handled the situation very professionally, prepared a new room for us AND made sure that the new room also was hypoallergenic friendly (I’m hypoallergenic). They called us afterwards several times to make sure that everything was okay, offered us free breakfast, gave us free nuts, water and fruit. All-in-all a really great service that made our stay perfect!
The Standard offered us their car service to drive us to the airport - Newark - a flat fee of only $90…. When we came to Newark the taxi driver charges us additionally 20% because we didn’t have cash (?!??!) .. The hotel should have told us to bring cash… !!!
Bed uncomfortable! Rooms too tiny
Loved the bed! , sheets and featherbed. I wish u could sit in the garden for breakfast instead of street side . Food was delicious. Music a bit loud .. Bell men were great!
Bed was too soft. Bathroom design was not right because water would get everywhere when showering. The bathroom drain stank.
This hotel is the go-to place for anyone from our LA office when visiting our New York office, mainly because of the location. When I mentioned this to the staff along with my initial complaints, they upgraded me to a very nice room (1607) in which I would love to live. The food is great, they have some vegan options, although I couldn't find any avocado on the Avocado Sandwich... All in all my stay was great and they treated me very well after complaining. Maybe next time they'll appreciate me from the get-go.
When I came in from my red eye flight, my room wasn't ready so I had some breakfast at the outside cafe. It took them a while to get my room ready, even though I had requested an early check-in. They said that the best way to secure that would be to book the night before as well at $350. Yeah, but no. Then when I got to my tiny little room looking out on a brick wall, it wasn't particularly comfortable or clean and the shower head was leaking. The blow dryer also didn't work. They did upgrade me to another room which actually had an amazing view and was great. But after receiving my final invoice (which had some random charges on it that weren't mine - which were removed after bringing them to their attention) some random charges showed up on my credit card bill a week or so later...
I liked the pretty much everything . You have to 'get' the Standards Hotels I think as they aren't anything like a 'normal ' hotel. Once you get into the swing of things it is great fun!
room was very small with no amenities such as closet space, drawers, bedside tables, clock.
Most everything, although the breakfast we enjoyed at the cafe seemed a bit over-priced. Tasty though.
Location, Atmosphere at the hotel, Beds very comfortable, Rooms very nice with the fantastic view, Staff very helpful and friendly !

The food and staff were great!
It would have been nice to have two bedside lamps. Even though eating in the grassy area was advertised, they were not serving food out there.
Truly excellent location. Walked to and from all of South Manhattan. Subway to Central Park & Brooklyn only. Loved the vibe of the East Village and vibe at The Standard. Cleanliness of room and hotel facilities faultless. Staff friendly, helpful & not intrusive. Recommend +++
Not informed that a lot of road repairs and building work taking place around hotel vicinity. Pricey for what was included but wouldn't put me off booking again.
Staff was absolutely wonderful. Especially Gary... Would definitely stay there again
Amazing, we went for my mums 50th birthday. The views are amazing. Rooms are big, very friendly staff. The hotel was very lively. Very cool interior. Good location.
I LOVED IT ALL OF IT!!
just about everything. Would definitely stay here again without question
The staff never follie up your request
The hotel delivered a complimentary treat to my guests' rooms upon arrival.
Three months ahead of my planned stay I reserved five Standard King rooms which, per the description, are on floors 6-20 offering a view of the Manhattan skyline, at a rate of $535 per night and two Courtyard King rooms which, per the description, are on floors 3-4 and overlook a tranquil tree-lined courtyard, at rate of $475 per night. I cancelled the two Courtyard King rooms and kept the five Standard King rooms. After my guests checked in I found one of their rooms was a Courtyard King room. I spoke with the hotel about it and was told all the rooms cost the same and the hotel was fully booked so a room change was not possible. I was very disappointed that my reservation was not fully honored.
we had room 1 on 18th floor which had superb views of downtown
