Quiet upper floor room Lively coffee shop & restaurant
The bed, the view (12th floor), and it was quiet. Nice breakfast space downstairs. Close to several subways. Interesting part of town.
Soundproofing is minimal and conversation from adjacent room is audible.
rooms are on the small side, but that's NYC!
staff all friendly and helpful, very comfortable beds and quality linens/towels, amazing views
Because of the size there isn't really a place to hang like a lobby or a lounge ... unlike the larger Standard hotels. It would have been nice to have somewhere to go other than straight to the room at times .... But I still prefer this hotel to the Standard Highline as the Highline hotel is far more impersonal. The only other thing is that drivers are often unaware of the hotel so we ended up giving the address as "Houston & Bowery" and walking the extra 4 blocks up to the hotel to make things easier!
The hotel is great and the rooms and beds superb. The staff could not have be more friendly and helpful and it truly felt like a home away from home!
A little pricey, but it is NY
Very comfortable bed. Great views of the city on the upper floors. Bathroom was clean, modern and felt new.
Breakfast was expensive, so decided not to have it.
Free upgrade! Fast service at front desk. Stayed on 16th floor, corner room. Awesome view toards upper Manhattan and Empire State Building. Modern, nice, clean room. Super selection in minibar.
I would have liked a directory that was prominent on the desk so I could have availed myself of the services
on top floors (18-20) on weekend it's loudy from night party from the restaurant on the top of hotel, but actually not so loud.
they upgraded us for free to next room type, and early checked in. nice neighbourhood, and location. metro nearby, union square and so on.
I ordered a hot water to be sent to my room but the room service staff forgot to send it up.
Staff are friendly, helpful, and young -- great location for the young professional traveling on business. Bar staff great. Restaurant in the hotel is AMAZING… rated top reviews on Yelp too!
We had to change rooms after the first night as the 1st room given to us was on the 5th floor and the view sucked... (I know 1st world problems)
The Corner room on the 20th floor
The standard queen rooms are tiny. Upgrade yourself to the king for sure!
I usually stay at The Standard High Line and thought I'd try out the East Village. I wasnt disappointed - its a cool cozy alternative that attracts a different crowd. Cafe Standard was a great place to hang out with amazing staff.
The view from the room and its design. The friendliness of the staff. The qualities of a first-class boutique hotel. Will go back as soon as we can.
The bedroom has no space. The clóset was wrongly design, with hangers from back to front, almost as to say "don't complain you hace a clóset". The cleaning service in the bathroom was poor, the soap was no replace for days. One day the used towels were left on the floor. No words for the glass will in the bathroom from wich you can be seen from the street.....
The staff was great. The hotel Restaurant and Bar aré really nice, the food perfect. It's nice having the bar just downatairs at all time.
Linens had holes in them and old stains. Carpet was in serious need of a cleaning. Front door also functions as loading dock...had to circle the block waiting for a delivery truck to unload. Doorman does not have a presence out front, so it's not exactly clear if it's the main door or really just a delivery entrance.
Hotel restaurant was fabulous. Wonderful service! The meal (including desserts) was a wonderful mix of tastes and textures and cool presentations.
Room was very small, no bathtub, the bed needed a new mattress as it dipped. Not enough room to walk around the bed.
White bed linen, good food, friendly staff, good location for East Village, nice bar, great view from 17th floor, good mini bar.
The little cafe is very cozy and has great food. We also went there later one evening for drinks with our daughter after seeing a show. The atmosphere was fun and vibrant. The rooms are small-almost european in feel, but very comfortable. The views are great at night.
Great location, funky feel and staff. Connected cafe and restuarant had great vibes, food and drinks.
The design of the room with the large floor to ceiling windows made the very small room seem more spacious. There was barely room to walk around the beds, so was very crowded for four people. I noted when booking that their was a "seating area" which I assumed was a couch, which our son would sleep on.This turned out to be a small desk and chair. The beds were standard doubles - too small for our 17 year old son and 20 year old daughter to share so our son slept on the floor with his head under the desk. We arrived at our apartment after catching a subway from downtown and trying to keep out of the rain and find the hotel as the street numbers were not in sequence. My daughter and I left our bags with my husband and son, so we could search for The Standard. When we entered the lobby we were tired and disheveled and to me it felt like the scene in Pretty Woman, when Julia Roberts walked into the classy store with the staff looking down their noses at her. We received a very cold reception, especially by the manager that evening. All the staff were very "trendy", immaculately dressed and groomed and at first gave us a "snooty" impression. This was very disappointing as we had been travelling for 2 weeks and had always been met by warm, welcoming staff everywhere else we had stayed. Fortunately we were treated well by other staff. Really missed not having a kettle or coffee machine in our room to make a morning cuppa on rising.
The view from our corner room of the New York skyline was spectacular! The bathroom was very modern and we enjoyed the bath and the lighting system which could be switched to a very soft light almost like lighting a candle. A great location with an easy walk to the subway, a variety of cafes, restaurants and entertainment venues. Very quiet with a lovely cafe and bar just off the lobby. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The staff appear young, casual in dress and manner, but well groomed and tutored in friendliness. A guy in a greatcoat floated over on my arrival and asked if I needed help with my bags. I only realized subsequently he was staff. It's very hip, and I am in my fifties. But in fact the service was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble for those guys and I would definitely stay there again, I feel like my kids' friends are running the place, but hey, they are doing a great job so all power to them! Five stars.
Value for money was not great. Staff had an air of, "you've used a 3rd party to book so we will do the bare minimum during your stay".
Great location and views from the room.
Not a very inspiring reception area. The location was satisfactory from a geographical point of view but I didn't feel that I was in New York.
The rooms were very clean and comfortable.
Breakfast is the Standard Cafe was ordinary, better to go to a nearby cafe. Slow lifts when busy.
Location, room and bathroom.
The hotel is located in the heart of new yor scene!!!
First hotel ever that didn't have bed lights. Very strange.
