The rooms were very clean and comfortable.
Not a very inspiring reception area. The location was satisfactory from a geographical point of view but I didn't feel that I was in New York.
Location, room and bathroom.
Breakfast is the Standard Cafe was ordinary, better to go to a nearby cafe. Slow lifts when busy.
The hotel is located in the heart of new yor scene!!!
First hotel ever that didn't have bed lights. Very strange.
welcoming male staff comfortable beds Nice breakfasts
female staff cold and aloof
The location The Standard myth The mood / environment downstairs in the café
Rooms are super tiny Pretty noisy because of the traffic and ... the fridge
view amazing sound dock for music cool staff friendly and helpful convenient location nice decoration
beds could be bigger no iron, no shower caps tv had no channel only music café small had a strange smell (not food) took ages for hot drinks
location and view from the room
the hotel, lobby was smaller than expected a bit claustrophobic...the room was noisy (not so much the street the earplugs were enough for that and you know u re in Manhattan) with A/C and the fridge which would start in the middle of the night so loud it would wake me up, the matrass was not firm at all so not very comfortable, they would charge for using a travel adaptor!!!!
accomodating professional friendly staff! very responsive room service .... great neighborhood near everything! Rooms are very quiet , we had an incredible view as well !
std King room is very small.
Next to the hotel there was a good bar with a young eclectic atmosphere. The room had a very nice view over midtown and the Emire State building. Even in the shower the view was superb. The bed was really good and soft. We loved it!
Unfortunately the concierge service was awful. The concierge forgot to make the booking of a helicopter although we paid it. The booking for the restaurant was also very late. The room was next to a building site: very loud workers from very early in the morning.
A very nice, cool Hotel. The view over Manhattan from the 20th floor was amazing. The staff was great and very helpfull.
Staff were helpful and friendly, the bed was quite possibly the most comfortable thing I have ever slept in, floor to ceiling glass windows showcased the most amazing views which meant I never wanted to leave the room and location was fantastic. All in all The Standard totally exceed my expectations.
While the food in the cafe was good, I have never come across such disinterested wait staff. Expect to wait 25 minutes for a coffee, even when they're quiet.
Location Flair Trendy
At check-in we were given rooms of a lower category than booked and paid without being told. We had to complain to get them. Unfair treatment. Small rooms. Uncomfortable bathrooms (few room to put personal items) even if very design. Impression to overpay the fact that it's a trendy hotel
We liked the position, the decor (it was lovely and modern) and the facilities - the cafe etc.
The bedding didn't really suit us - but we stripped the bed and removed the undersheet and then we were comfortable. We would love to stay again if we could afford it.
I stayed at The Standard East village for 7 nights. Do not be worried of anything and go there. Vendula & sons from The Czech Republic. I will certainly go there again:))
Everything was perfect.
the location and the help of the staff
the lack of television reception when wanting to relax after being out all day, and the toiletries the hotel uses
The hotel location is very good in the middle of Mahattan just below Union Square, with close access to the metro and buses. The room are confortables but small. Excellent bed and shower. The decoration is modern but simple. The restaurant/cafeteria is a very trendy place full with non-resident young adults.
You must ask higher floors above floor 14 to have good view. Facing north there is a building been constructed just by the hotel. The hotel restaurant is very full of people . The breakfast area feels like fast food dining room.
lovely staf & love the outdoor breakfast place & great location.
location, stuff, the rooms ,decoration.
Basically it is a new hotel and the staff is in a 'party' mood. If you happen to cross the 'manager' kind in frontdesk, you get what you aim. Next door construction and no curtains in the bathroom were definitely strange (workers waving at you when you had windows open). Very noisy Friday/Saturday night (one room seemed to be +15 persons partying). Too much stress for such a price...
The location is close to both the NYU campus and the dorms, which allowed my student son and me to walk between them. The small hotel feel and excellent restaurant complete the picture
Rooms could be roomier, but hey, it's New York!
Loved the bed and pillows! Loved the view! Whisper close toilet seat was a nice touch. Very friendly and helpful staff. A little bit of extra space in mini-fridge for food and beverages. Elevators were fast and were usually on the lobby level, open, just waiting for someone who needed to go up! Close to subway station and lots of fabulous restaurants.
Room doors and shower doors were heavy and therefore made a lot of noise if you weren't careful when you closed them.
Close proximity to Astor Place subway. Within walking distance of Soho shopping district. Nice little cafe/restaurant/bar on the ground floor. Taxis were always easy to catch at the front door. Nice outdoor garden space.
Room was fairly tight on space but that is expected in most properties in NYC. Complementary water on a daily basis would have been a nice touch. It would be good to offer guests the option of not changing towels on a daily basis.
