We really enjoyed the selections for breakfast, calming environment, helpful & professional staff, wonderful views of the inlet, and private entrance to a patio which allowed us to see the northern lights on our first night. Our best stay while in Alaska! Thanks Copper Whale Inn for the memories...
I liked the friendly staff, the breakfast service was nice. The views also were terrific. The location is near to the shopping and dining in the downtown Anchorage area and close enough to walk. I like having a designated smoking area.
The hotel is on the edge of the downtown Anchorage scene... this means traffic and people sounds that last into the night, especially on weekends. It might be hard to sleep for some people. The hotel supplies earplugs in the room which is a nice touch.
As soon as I walked in there was a soothing homely vibe. I was greeted by Glen who was very helpful in getting me settled and making me a map to get to talkeetna. Jen was also very helpful and gave me a map of the city, circling places I might like to visit. My room was lovely with views over the bay. The breakfast in the lounge area was delicious. I was so impressed with the copper Whale and the super helpful proprietors that I changed a booking at another hotel so I could stay two more nights. I was kindly upgraded to another room. Please consider staying at the inn. You will be glad you did and you will be supporting an amazing local business.
Nothing. I love this place.
Fantastic location and really friendly staff
The room I was in sounded like I was next to a highway, very noisy so much so that there were ear plugs left for me on the bedside table!
The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was fantastic and very knowledgeable of the area and the weather. Thanks for recommending not to do the flightseeing due to fog! Supper breakfast truly a great place.
Everyone on the staff were very responsive to the needs of others. Not just ours, but I overheard Staff responses to others. It's got a great location, is very well kept, and very comfortable. Excellent breakfast too!
The Copper Whale was a fine B&B. The staff were helpful and the accommodations very nice for a remodeled house. The shared bathroom was spotless, a real plus. It was great they had a refrigerator for guest use and the location could not be better for an Anchorage Alaska sightseer.
The train noise was pretty substantial, especially since it was summer and the windows needed to be open. It was super that they provided ear plugs as I needed them.
family run convivial breakfast friendly service
parking issues with nearby roadworks
What a delightful place to stay after staying in big hotels for the previous month. Kitchen, Dining, Sitting Room Tea and Coffee facilities Fresh Fruit Great location All the staff were courteous and helpful Absolutely fabulous - would totally recommend this place to anyone
Staying in downtown Anchorage ? The Copper Whale can't be beat. A lot better than the chain hotels, at prices that are comparable. Excellent location, with most rooms having a partial view of Cook Inlet. Breakfast is continental, and a bit awkward, in a small communal room. If you want a big breakfast, across the street is a fine cafe.
Next to the coastal trail and some wonderful restaurants. Helpful staff.
If you have a room next to the major road, it's too noisy for a good nights sleep.
Lovely grounds, good breakfast
Noisy, hard to sleep
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was a healthy continental offering yogurt, wonderful fresh fruit and breads, cereals and pastries. The location was very good giving walking access to downtown and the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. The view of Cook Inlet and the mountains beyond was wonderful.
We stayed in 3 different rooms during our 2 1/2 weeks in Alaska. The rooms were very variable with some being small. Our last room was somewhat noisy with shower and fan noises from other rooms and noise from the dining room upstairs.
Excellent staff, friendly ambience and great breakfast. Lovely views of the bay and of the Alaskan mountains. Convenient to bay side bike trails.
Location right on very busy intersection makes ear plugs a must to get any sleep!
It was surprisingly quiet despite being in a busy area! Loved the nearby park and the lovely view of the water at the bottom of the hill. Wonderful setting!
The prompt reply to my email enquiries, the homely feel, helpfulness of all staff at all times & breakfast was more than we had expected. It was a really nice place to come home to.
Good location easy walk to downtown. Great continental breakfast. Staff were very helpful.
We had room with queen bed. The mattress was worn and was quite uncomfortable.
The Copper Whale Inn is a delightful, old-fashioned (in a good way!) establishment with warm, welcoming and helpful staff. Highly recommended.
We booked this B&B on reading the glowing reviews but were sorely disappointed. We stayed on two separate occasions, firstly in a room with shared facilities. The room had a pleasant outlook however was overlooked by the office building next door. Our second room was cramped & had no privacy as was overlooked on one side by the street & on the other by a group of people standing outside the window having a loud discussion. The street noise at night was intolerable & I find the provision of earplugs somewhat bizarre. Needless to say, we had little sleep. Breakfast was adequate but eaten in the lounge on small side tables. This would have been OK except for the fact that a large & very loud group monopolised the room. We felt uncomfortable & went out for coffee elsewhere. Overall this was not a good experience for us & would recommend future guests to avoid the "Carriage" room by the front door. We are experienced & frequent travellers & would not rate this B&B as good value for money.
Perfect location excellent staff
Can't think of a thing I didn't like.
Comfy bed ... Location close to coastal bike trail, yummy lunch at snow city cafe and solstice celebration downtown. Rented bikes and man kind helpful and knowledgable.
Room had unpleasant odor. Staff not go extra mile Need shuttle for guests.
The ambience and cosy feeling in the common area was fantastic. Lovely breakfast that was delicious. Goood quality coffee was also available at all times in the kitchenette area. Thee location was in easy walking distance of Anchorage CBD. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, had a very comfortable bed and nice big bathroom. Overall top notch, especially for the price. Would definitely book here again when we return to Anchorage.
That we missed the black bear that visited the street 2 days before.
After a one week cruise, we booked the larger suite so we could relax comfotably. Very nice room, excellent breakfast. Perfectly located to walk around downtown. Extremely helpful staff with suggestions, dinner recommendations.
It was a nice place with such friendly staff. We came in early and dropped our luggage, which was a plus. We came back later in the evening and left before breakfast, but it was a comfortable place to rest our heads.
Be prepared to use the ear plugs if you're susceptible to noises keeping you up and you want to sleep before 11pm.
The room was nice and it was located just right for freeway and airport jumps but in downtown.
Noise in the wall at night, but hay, they did provide ear plugs.
