The bed and the sheets are simply superb. We had a wonderful refreshing sleep. The view from our room (the beluga room) is amazing. It faces right towards the ocean. It has the perfect location right near the heart of downtown. Everything is accessible by foot. The coastal trail is just steps away.
bedrooms were very comfortable and had a great view. Common living area and breakfast was amazing
Maybe just the sound proof is not good.
Location is good, clean, the staffs are awesome! They helped us to prepare a tasty birthday cake for surprise on our arrival! Appreciated it! The breakfast was good, the common area is so cozy.
Had a problem with heat in my room the first night-but the staff arranged a new room and gave a discount so no problem.
Location, building, friiendly staff, kitchen access
room is little too high & little bit too small ~ breakfast should extend a little bit late to let us enjoy more
The location is great ~ living room is good ~ breakfast is good & fruit service all day long
The decor felt like something you'd have in your home! Quiet and cozy!
The noise, lack of variety in breakfast.
It´s true that if you are lucky to get a room on an upper floor, you can have a great experience. I was situated on an upper floor, second building, for 2 days and had a great view, peace and quiet. Then I moved to the main building ground floor, and had a pretty different experience. Much more noise from other rooms, the room didn´t have a thermostat, there was a small extra heater plugged in which made amazing noise. In the end I had to do what I never did before: use ear plugs in order to get some sleep. I also was a bit cold. On the other hand it´s true that the personnel are extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast is nice and fresh, but after a while I ended up missing something cooked, since there was only fruit, cereal, yogurt, and some pastries.
Friendly, informative, cosy, great location, breakfast, nice rooms, comfortable beds, nice view, VERY helpful staff. Went abive and beyond to make us feel welcome!
My only complaint is the noise within. The sounds from upstairs are very audible. There are earplugs provided but unfortunately they don't discriminate.
The location is great. It's within walking distance of the mall, several very good restaurants and the performance hall.
We really enjoyed the selections for breakfast, calming environment, helpful & professional staff, wonderful views of the inlet, and private entrance to a patio which allowed us to see the northern lights on our first night. Our best stay while in Alaska! Thanks Copper Whale Inn for the memories...
The hotel is on the edge of the downtown Anchorage scene... this means traffic and people sounds that last into the night, especially on weekends. It might be hard to sleep for some people. The hotel supplies earplugs in the room which is a nice touch.
I liked the friendly staff, the breakfast service was nice. The views also were terrific. The location is near to the shopping and dining in the downtown Anchorage area and close enough to walk. I like having a designated smoking area.
Nothing. I love this place.
As soon as I walked in there was a soothing homely vibe. I was greeted by Glen who was very helpful in getting me settled and making me a map to get to talkeetna. Jen was also very helpful and gave me a map of the city, circling places I might like to visit. My room was lovely with views over the bay. The breakfast in the lounge area was delicious. I was so impressed with the copper Whale and the super helpful proprietors that I changed a booking at another hotel so I could stay two more nights. I was kindly upgraded to another room. Please consider staying at the inn. You will be glad you did and you will be supporting an amazing local business.
The room I was in sounded like I was next to a highway, very noisy so much so that there were ear plugs left for me on the bedside table!
Fantastic location and really friendly staff
The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was fantastic and very knowledgeable of the area and the weather. Thanks for recommending not to do the flightseeing due to fog! Supper breakfast truly a great place.
Everyone on the staff were very responsive to the needs of others. Not just ours, but I overheard Staff responses to others. It's got a great location, is very well kept, and very comfortable. Excellent breakfast too!
The train noise was pretty substantial, especially since it was summer and the windows needed to be open. It was super that they provided ear plugs as I needed them.
The Copper Whale was a fine B&B. The staff were helpful and the accommodations very nice for a remodeled house. The shared bathroom was spotless, a real plus. It was great they had a refrigerator for guest use and the location could not be better for an Anchorage Alaska sightseer.
parking issues with nearby roadworks
family run convivial breakfast friendly service
What a delightful place to stay after staying in big hotels for the previous month. Kitchen, Dining, Sitting Room Tea and Coffee facilities Fresh Fruit Great location All the staff were courteous and helpful Absolutely fabulous - would totally recommend this place to anyone
Staying in downtown Anchorage ? The Copper Whale can't be beat. A lot better than the chain hotels, at prices that are comparable. Excellent location, with most rooms having a partial view of Cook Inlet. Breakfast is continental, and a bit awkward, in a small communal room. If you want a big breakfast, across the street is a fine cafe.
If you have a room next to the major road, it's too noisy for a good nights sleep.
Next to the coastal trail and some wonderful restaurants. Helpful staff.
Noisy, hard to sleep
Lovely grounds, good breakfast
We stayed in 3 different rooms during our 2 1/2 weeks in Alaska. The rooms were very variable with some being small. Our last room was somewhat noisy with shower and fan noises from other rooms and noise from the dining room upstairs.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was a healthy continental offering yogurt, wonderful fresh fruit and breads, cereals and pastries. The location was very good giving walking access to downtown and the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. The view of Cook Inlet and the mountains beyond was wonderful.
Location right on very busy intersection makes ear plugs a must to get any sleep!
Excellent staff, friendly ambience and great breakfast. Lovely views of the bay and of the Alaskan mountains. Convenient to bay side bike trails.
It was surprisingly quiet despite being in a busy area! Loved the nearby park and the lovely view of the water at the bottom of the hill. Wonderful setting!
The prompt reply to my email enquiries, the homely feel, helpfulness of all staff at all times & breakfast was more than we had expected. It was a really nice place to come home to.
