Welcome feel. Owned and run by French family. The Joan of Arc themed breakfast room is truly one-of-a-kind. Claw-foot tub in bathroom. A great place to stay if you want to save a few dollars, be close to Union Square, and, but especially if you prefer unique & personal lodging to large hoteliers. The hotel didn't appear to have any AC, so I might hesitate to stay there mid-summer.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The room, while rather small, was clean and neat. The bathroom, while very small (I've had larger bathrooms on cruise ships), was also clean, neat and stocked with sufficient towels and basic amenities. Fortunately, the bed was very comfortable. The included breakfast was very good and served in their small restaurant. The staff there was very friendly and cheerful. The room was not air-conditioned, but the ceiling fan was sufficent to keep the room pleasant at night (as long as you kept the window open). During the day, it was a little warm, but I did not spend much time in the room during the day. The room, which was on the second floor, was quiet. The main light fixture hd a burned out bulb and one of the lights in the bathroom did not work - don't know if it was a burned out or missing bulb, or if it just didn't work. Seemed like an unusual miss for an otherwise nice property.

The decor is very special: French theme throughout, Joan of Arc based. Mix between medieval atmosphere and early 20th century French Painters Cleanliness is not their forte: some very dusty spots in the room. Clean looking sheets and towels though

The Cornell Hotel de France is an older hotel. The decor is very french countryside. The room we had was quite small but clean and comfortable. We were in the back so it was very quiet. Breakfast was very good. There's someone that cooks for you. The breakfast room in beautiful. Very old french and medieval looking. Locatio is close to Union Square and all the shopping. It's also on the cable car route. I would stay there again.

The food was FABULOUS. Dinner is truly gourmet. Both breakfast (included), and dinner were served in a lovely dining room, which looked just like a small inn in France.

First time in a 'Boutique Hotel' setting, was amazing, very charming, friendly, convenient to everything, trolley directly outside hotel....restaurants, cafes, shopping, all within walking distance, or hop on trolley. Was very quiet, slept wonderfully. Decor quaint & beautiful. Bed comfy, water pressure great. Bkft included was good & filling. Cannot say enough great things about this adorable hotel. We will definately be back! N/A

The Hotel was convenient and quieter than I expected. The management gave us a back room that was away from Bush street traffic noise. The complimentary American breakfast added value to the stay. The heating in the room was an outdated water heated that woke us up when it turned on because it sounded like a boiling tea kettle,

Location location location. Ideal for short stay in San Francisco. Knowledge of the city by staff very poor. When asked questions about certain restaurants in the neighborhood, staff had no idea of such a simple question. Breakfast was very limited, all you could get were French toast or eggs.If you wanted something simple as yogurt, it was denied.

My wife and I had a very nice week stay. Thanks to the staff who made the difference. They were always there for us and were most helpful and kind from making the rooms to the nice morning breakfast dining and always with a big smile and eagerness. The Manager Jane Zhao was wonderful and gave us very useful advice and assistance to optimize our stay. She is a real gem that would have made anyone's stay in the hotel memorable. Location is perfect in the heart of SFO with restaurants, car rentals, shopping, entertainment and easy access to public transport everywhere. Highly recommended to anyone. Beds were a bit soft. Could do with rooms with hard beds.

Clean, not too hard to get around (centrally-located), cheerful (non- motelly) reception area. The staff accommodated a few requests that we had (early check in, late check-out) which we really appreciated! Didn't think it had very good value for the money, it was kinda cluttered in our room. Not a fan of floral wallpaper but that's their theme - French Country so I think people who enjoy that would not find it bothersome and probably would not think the room was cluttered but might find it tastefully appointed with French Country decor. I kinda dig on modern furnishings but the Cornell was what was available that weekend and they did a good job with our reservation and with doing everything they could to make our stay nice so...you should try it!

It is very friendly hotel. All staff were extremely friendly. Restaurant was very authentic. Service was great. We felt it at home. Location was great. One small hill, which is probably not avoidable in San Francisco, from Union Square. We would definitely recommend it.

Location, nice retro style elevator. Very small rooms with very small and old bathroom with broken door, annoyed staff at breakfast. Really, it looks like regular Paris hotel with all it shortcomings.

The body lotion it provided was good smell. Although cozy room was small and the space was still enough. It was quiet at night. The breakfast was included in price. Most importantly, it was good taste and freshly made after ordered. Besides the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. There were three choices: (1) french toast, (2) scrambled egg with bacon ( a littile bit hard), potato and backed toast, or (3) cereal. They also provided a glass of orange juice or a cup of coffee/hot tea.

It is a clean, basic hotel in a convenient location in downtown San Francisco. For the location and compared to other hotels, Cornell Hotel de France was a good value for the money. Free wi-fi was helpful. I also appreciated that breakfast was included in the room rate. Shower heads, though adequate, could be improved. Also, the wi-fi system should allow you to log-in and stay logged in for entire trip. Currently, even once you've authenticated, you have to re-authenticate every few hours.
