Inspired by the art and literature of the 1920s and 30s, this boutique hotel is centered in the theater district, seconds from Union Square, and offers charming accommodations and modern amenities.

Location and proximity to many things.
Water pressure in shower (room 601) was horrific. Barely a trickle. Wife was unable to wash her hair in shower and had to use the sink to rinse shampoo out.
Every thing, Espiecially Diane
Rooms large enough, good location. Nothing special about it
Breakfast = pancakes or eggs the one day, french toast or eggs the other day so nothing special.
Breakfast: a baguette/croissant with preserve would have been more apropos given the French theme.
Great location in San Francisco, excellent public transport including the ubiquitous trolley car a 1 minute walk away. Good size rooms Very friendly staff
The decor was a bit jaded and faded in places and the furniture looked a bit old fashioned (not antique/ classic) No view from the room we had The note about tipping at breakfast irked
The hotel in general was good Liked the breakfast.
The reason i didn't rate the hotel very high was the size of the bed. 4ft is not acceptable for a two people. The room was described as a standard queen. 4ft and covered in plastic is not good.
location friendly staff on site restaurant chef created breakfasts included value for San Francisco
outdated furnishings and decor general cleanliness
The staff were very helpful. My room had sunlight and a view even though I was at the back of the hotel - I had requested a quiet room. It was within easy walking distance of public transport and convenience shops. There were food shops just across the road.
Great Location, boutique style great breakfast
Not modern enough for my tastes but others will like the 'olde worlde' style.
Staffs are good and helpful. The bed is firm, good for sleeping, bathroom towels are clean. Restaurant' s Jeanne d' Arc decoration is delightful. Overall , the hotel' s cleanliness is very good. Bonus point is in the middle of the American big city there is historical French tastefully injected. Truely enjoyment. ;)
It is a bit of uncomfortable when walking back to the front door of the hotel at night due to someone looked suspicous around the area.
Charming and very French. Restaurant is worth the stay and taking photos. Good value and location close to Union Square park
Location, quiet room, breakfast
Very dated, gas like smell in reception area,
Good location and excellent breakfast. Staff very friendly
Rooms a little too small, but expected in major city.
Centrally located French decor and character Wifi access Included cooked breakfast
Location is about 500m up a steep hill from the subway station
great location, wonderful breakfast in a lovely diningroom. friendly staff. would definately stay again.
Excellent location, very friendly staff
Loved the restaurant. Good food and service. Great decor
Would have liked better pillows.
Boutique hotel, Breakfast serve by chinese.
steep uphill walk, difficult for elderly traveller.
handy for reasonable parking and close to union square. reasonable rates.
limited breakfast choices. stale smell indoors.
Very quaint and European feeling. The included breakfast was lovely.
The hotel was filled with character. This is the place for you if you like not living in just another motel room. The paintings and artwork were beautiful. The restaurant in the basement was a work of art. The breakfast was delicious each morning. Staff very friendly.
No fridge in room.
Location was great, the decor was lovely, great breakfast
There was nothing that we didn't like
breakfast is good, location is great
Location, location, location. Good value for money, friendly staff.
Minor details, nothing that really bothered.
A good value in an expensive city. You do get what you pay for plus a bit more.
It's a bit long in the tooth and could use a bit of upgrading. On the other hand this contributes to its charm and I am sure is a factor in the price.
